I'm thinking of mostly in the workplace, but can apply to any social systems. I am introverted so it is natural for me to limit my social interaction with people in general, but I often notice that guys and girls seem to inject themselves into social drama and gossip and have fun doing so. I'm not usually dragged into it by others, so if I want to get into it, I feel like I have to push myself in there a bit which feels awkward, even though it does give me more to talk about with other people and increases my social interaction.

However, I'm concerned that getting involved in social drama/gossip just for the sake of conversation and interaction makes me less attractive, since nothing good ever really comes of it, and it's possible it just leads to me saying unnecessary and unattractive things. Should you always just ignore it and not give a fuck about it unless someone comes to you with a specific thing going on that you have good reason to say something about?
