I feel like this kind of behaviour is indicative of someone who has very little confidence in himself, so therefore feels the need to put others down to feel superior. It's easy to be so consumed with negativity and judgement when you feel so poorly about yourself. You can tell yourself, "I wish I wasn't the way I am, but at LEAST I'm not XYZ!"

When it comes to feminism, definitely don't take that label as an insult. Yes, there are super radical feminists who legitimately hate men, but that's like saying all Muslims are part of ISIS. Feminism is about making women equal to men by raising up women, not pushing men down. It's about leaving behind antiquated ideas about gender and sexuality in order to form a more equal, empathetic society that does not judge people based on their gender. Think about how much we can achieve when we judge each other by our actual abilities and ideas instead of suppressing brilliant and hardworking people because of what they're "supposed" to be like.

Back to your friend, he seems like he lacks a lot of empathy. It's sad that so many people, like redpillers, see empathy as weakness or stupidity. Empathy helps us all function as a society. I applaud you for sticking up for your beliefs in the face of a friend who puts them down so harshly. I think you're exactly right to take a lot of these issues on an individual basis, because everyone, and every situation, is different.

People like your friend have a hard time empathizing, especially in the case of feminism and gender-based issues, because he has never seen or experienced them himself. And why would he? He's a male! But someone like him needs some serious educating on the cold hard facts about gender inequality. Things like the wage gap (and what that means), #MeToo, the harm that gender roles do to men and women (and everyone in between), and many more issues are absolutely based in reality. If he's a "facts before feelings" guy, showing him the numbers is a good way to get started. If he ignores straight up facts in order to keep his antiquated and small-minded opinions, then, well, fuck him. That's not the kind of person I would want to be friends with, personally. It's up to you to decide when he takes things too far.

The thing is, you don’t have to get married if you don’t want to. You don’t have to date single mothers if you don’t want to. You don’t have to date women with a high n count if you don’t want to. That’s your right and you can date whoever the hell you’d like. But there’s no reason to shame someone else for making that choice if they want to.

You can't change your MGTOW friend's mind overnight or at all if he's not willing. Just keep reminding him that many issues go both ways and both men and women are often responsible for consequences of their actions. It takes two to tango and it's unfair to place ALL the blame on the woman. The world has so many grey areas that I personally rarely take hard stances on anything. I understand trends and averages, but I also understand that most people aren't "average" on everything and that there's so much individual differences between people. I try not to generalize entire groups of people or be prejudiced against them. That also doesn't mean I blind myself to reality with any certainties. It also doesn't mean I don't look for yellow flags or draw certain inferences based on what I know and what I observe. Human psychology and sociology are so much more complex than "AWALT!!!"

Don't do anything or believe anything you don't feel comfortable doing. We are often expected to walk on eggshells and adhere to the echo chambers of conformity or else! This type of extremism and "Us or with the enemy" mentality is unhealthy and allows a limited of ideas to take hold while marginalizing others who double down or become more extreme. It shuts out dialog keeps people living in their tribes while "otherizing" other tribes. Having been on both of the fence yourself affords you with the advantage of completely understanding his perspective and showing him how and why you changed your mindset.
