Yes it's true. I have been to a club in LA that I knew the promoter and he told me the modeling agency he hired, they delivered 20 girls, and a couple of guys too. I even worked as a promoter briefly and we targeted hot women in clubs where models hung out an put them on the guest list.

Yes they do as long as the revenue justifies it.

Obviously not going on in smaller towns

I've never heard of them referred to as "air models" but yes this happens in major cities all over the world. Typically it is higher end night clubs. The girls do not get paid, but there are many perks. Before being taken to the club they're taken out to very renowned, high class restaurants, and are often invited to vip award shows, concerts, etc. There are even apartments they can live at for no cost as long as they go out a designated amount of times per week. In the club they reside at a roped off table with lots and lots of alcohol and a security guard. I would know as i'm a model in nyc and go out relatively frequently. Modeling Agencies are NOT involved at all. They're extremely against it as they don't want their models constantly looking tired/partying up a storm.
