I am glad you asked about this. I've been working on something over the past month and a half to combat this and I finally have the opportunity to share it somewhere where it will make a difference. I call it the "Wildfire Method".

Imagine that you are a spark that jumped from a fire pit. The more people you interact with and the more you work the room, the more the fire spreads. Soon, you'll burn the whole joint to the ground with conversation.

Walk in fully prepared and find a seat at the bar where there are people. Order a drink and start making small talk with the people to your left and your right. This is your "Anchor Set". This way you're not the lone wolf in the bar and your social proof doesn't fall into the shitter. Your anchor set typically doesn't have a target, so you can talk and warm up your social game before you go out for the hunt.
You'll begin to notice others approaching the bar to order drinks. Open them and get to know them. I call these people keys.
Once you see a key go back to a table with a desired target, that person will serve as your key into the set. Approach will be much easier because you already know one person in the group. If you fail and get blown out, you can return to your anchor set and collect your thoughts.
Repeat as many times as possible until you damn near know everyone in the room. This way you can begin using more advanced techniques like incorporating pivots and bouncing between sets.

Also, never underestimate the power of direct approach. If you have a solid opener that you can use congruently, open by taking the path of least resistance. Do not approach your target directly. You can go in guns blazing and approach the AMOG or alpha woman, or you can sneak right under the radar and approach the person with the lowest social value. It's situationally dependent.

The Wildfire Method is only intended to get you to the door. It's up to your game to get through the door and into the bedroom.

So don't go out to pick up women. Go out to enjoy a good beer (or a good snack, maybe you don't need to drink when you go out), a good atmosphere, or to be social with strangers. Now you've killed three birds with one stone.

There is no pretense. You're out to do exactly what you're already doing and there's nothing that you'd feel shameful about telling someone else. Your best friend is spending time with his family, your buddy had to work, whatever, so you decided to go out stag tonight.
You've solved outcome dependency. By going to your venue and getting a pint of that beer you wanted (or whatever it was), you have successfully met your goal for the evening. It doesn't matter if you got a girl's number or chatted with that HB or whatever else you thought you had to do to win. You're already there, AND it didn't depend one bit on someone else playing along.
You just jumped three levels in inner game. Seriously. Like half of inner game is learning how to be confident and do what you want because it's what you want to do for yourself - if you meet a great woman, that's great, but if you don't meet one, you still have a good time doing exactly what you set out to do. But now you're going out and doing what you want to do by definition.

Look, obviously this isn't for every person, every night. If you have a problem with AA and need to exercise your way out of it, this may not help much. But if you've been struggling with feeling confident or you don't get that "natural" click, this might be what you're missing.

And yeah, it's field tested. I GOT PICKED UP twice early week. My friends had other stuff to do, I wanted to go out, I felt like testing this, so I did. I was just hanging out at a local bar enjoying the fire and crowd. And it was pretty damned enjoyable. Then the cute girls approached me and it got even better.

I'd like to know this too... Starting January I intend to do the 30 nights out thing and some of my friends are flakes
