First time going to an EDM concert/thing... need some info.

It doesn't really matter what you wear, just be yourself. A lot of people are going to be wearing bright clothing if you want an idea.

If this is your first time going to an EDM show and have never rolled, I'd highly recommend it (as long as you're not taking any anti-depressants). It's an entirely new experience. You'll be able to meet people a lot more easily and relate to them on that level. Just make sure you know what you're taking, get them tested, etc.

You can approach women just by going up and sparking up a conversation about the show (who are you most excited to see? how's your night going? tell them "it's my first rave/first time rolling," offer to trade kandi, that kind of stuff). However, from my experience, girls don't go to these shows to hook up with random guys, they just go to have fun. I've never been to these shows in hopes of hooking up with chicks, only to meet some cool people and have a good time.

I wouldn't attempt to grind at EDM shows, it creeps a lot of girls out. Just jump to the beat and pump your fist in the air. Sometimes i'll have a friend jumping next to me and we'll hold hands while jumping up in unison so you can try that out if you want.

I gotta be honest here. Don't try to meet women. I've gone to a lot of these shows and I never try to find a woman, but they find me. In order to have the most fun you can and increase your chances at hooking up with a fine lady, I suggest giving no fucks about women, having fun, dancing, and be loose - anything can happen and lots of shit will if you just go with it.

Please don't go to these scenes to approach women. This should not be your mindset going in (you shouldn't ever let it be your mindset in general). Go to have fun and enjoy yourself. Dress comfortably, because you'll be dancing for hours (especially if you're rolling). Everyone's going to be too busy having fun that they won't care how you look. Ravers are some of the chillest and nicest people you could ever hang out with anyway, so do the same and try not to ruin the scene. As long as you're focusing on having fun (and enjoying your roll if you are), everyone will start flocking to you.

Above all else, practice PLUR!

Unless it is something like DayGlow, don't be that guy that is constantly hitting on girls; it is a good way to get your ass kicked. However, events like DayGlow are a whole different ballgame that shit was like a giant orgy I have never seen anything like it. But, it seems like it is a younger crowd, so be careful with that as well.

I usually dress in comfy light clothes e.g. jeans, tee shirt. Wear comfortable shoes you're gonna be on your feet all night.

Note, they most likely aren't going to let you bring any thing in e.g. bags etc so unless your car is there or something you're not going to be able to change your shirt or put on deodorant after etc... keep this in mind.

Honestly, if you are looking to hookup at an EDM show you have a better chance smoking a cig and talking to girls outside. It will be entirely too loud to have any real conversation on the floor. I would personally go have fun try and casually meet people in line for water or out side for a cig, then find where the after party is... that is where you will have a better shot.

Normally a lurker but Jesus Christ what kind of scenes do you people have going on? anything EDM = Rave for you? Some of the advice I'm reading just boggles my mind. some really awful awful stuff here.

First, framing my experience: 10 years as a DJ and patron in both nightclub and rave environments. If it goes ummtissummtiiss, I've been there and got the t-shirt.

Now first things first. Is this a rave or is this a club event? HUGE DIFFERENCE. just because you have EDM playing doesn't mean you're walking into a ecstasy fueled, rave-goo wonderland. EDM scenes have largely matured internationally and generally moved way past "PLUR", "Rave families" (are you fucking kidding me?) and ninjaturtle outfits.

Considering you're going to see Aoki and Mord Fustang, you're going to have a slightly younger, hipsterish crowd from the Dubstep/Electro thing Aoki's got going on. In general though, EDM events are quite the melting pot of styles so there will be a huge variety. This means you can dress comfortably and not worry to much about "fitting in". Wear something that makes you look and feel natural.

Don't feel compelled to do drugs just because there will be dance music. Again, if this is more of a club thing then a rave, most people will be drinking (or club drugs like coke). If you've never done E, be careful. This will not be the place to lose your shit at. If you can handle your drugs though, then it's entirely up to you. Drugs will lead you to option B for pick-up, described later.

If there's one thing my fellow commentators have right, it's that women at these events do not want to be grinded on. They're there to have fun. This leads to pick-up method A

Method A - Women are there to have fun, so you need to show them that you're fun and that being around you will equal having a fun time. This starts with having fun yourself and not going in with the intention or mindset to pick up. Make this about you and your buddy having a great time. Women will begin to notice your smile and your genuine enjoyment of the night. From here you can approach sets around you on the dance floor. Comment on how awesome the night is, tell them its your first time at an event like this, show them you know how to have a great time and it'll all flow naturally. Kino-escalation is super easy on the dancefloor btw if you're all having fun ;)

Method B - This one involves drugs. Ecstasy makes everyone your friend and vice versa if they're on it to. Talk to anyone who's also on drugs and avoid those who aren't (if they're not also high, you'll probably come across as a gurning idiot). Find a rolling crew and you'll consider yourself 3-4 steps into the game automatically. KINO is HUGE since senses are heightened and just rubbing someone's back can make them feel like they're getting off.

In general though, your goal should just be to go and have fun. Be yourself, be natural, don't feel pressured to do anything and just let everything flow. Aoki is an absolutely blast, you'll have a great time even if you don't talk to a single girl. Enjoy the night!

What to wear?

Just wear whatever is comfortable, don't try to wear a specific style. It's going to be hot and sweaty in the club but it might be cold outside after. I usually wear a t-shirt or tank top/jersey and some jeans so I don't get too hot. If it's cold outside I'll even bring a jacket, maybe a scarf and some mitts, I ain't trying to impress anyone and they almost always have a coat check for a couple bucks.

Should I be on drugs?

Don't ever feel the need to be on drugs for something. These shows are incredible on their own. However as mentioned before, party drugs like MDMA (E) enhance the experience greatly. Lots of people drink/smoke pot too and occasionally, depending on the scene, you can find everything from cocaine to LSD. Rolling if by far the most fun however.

Spot to approach women? What to expect?

These shows are usually pretty good if you want to meet girls as everyone is usually on something and incredibly friendly and eager to talk. They are also usually wearing next to nothing and covered in paint or glowsticks or fur or something which is awesome. Every show I've been to has been great and I don't think I've been to anything with a negative vibe yet,always good times.

Edit: Since I see you're going to the Dead Meat Tour, which is Dim Maks (electrohouse) tour, I would definitely do MDMA (you will need the energy) and wear VERY LIGHT clothes because it will be hot. But oh shit, that will be a fucking amazing time!

I go to raves quite often. You don't have to be on drugs but it's nice. Just be safe. Wear what you want and just enjoy yourself.

I have a friend who's able to grind with girls quite often (but I personally think it's kinda stupid to do in such a setting) and he even hooks up with them pretty regularly.

Raves are the EASIEST place to pick up girls, MDMA gets the sensory nervous system to go nuts and touch is overstimulated in a pleasure able way, lights as well, it also lowers inhibitions and everyone is more sociable so approach is easy. My recommendations, buy a pack of cigarettes since its amazing while rolling, use it to meet girls and sit down and get a light show with one. Just work relatively fast because girls find their guy for the night relatively early and stick with them all night

From my experience - the dance floor at an EDM event (vs a nightclub for example) aren't the best place to pickup IMO. People often come there specifically to dance. As mentioned more work is done outside smoking :P. later in the night is better once everyone is properly on it tho.
- you should definitely approach women here! Everyone will be extremely open to be spoken to for the most part (thanks drugs!) - drugs will make it a lot more fun. Plus if u do pickup sex on Molly is pretty awesome. But I'm pro-drugs so take that with a grain of salt. - I wear jeans and a tshirts/shirt and "dress" trainers ie not nikes or rebooks.
