Last night I met up with two guys from BostonSeddit to go sarging. I'm not going to name them without permission, so I'll just call them S and J. They can chime in in the comments if they like. This was my first time sarging with other people.

We met right after a basketball game got out at a huge bar near the arena. The place was full of people who had been at the game (or were in the neighborhood wearing jerseys, at least). It seemed like a lot of couples. After scoping out the place, they suggested another bar that would be less basketbally and with a larger dance floor.

At the next bar, we had a good time dancing, but we mostly didn't approach. I have a list of excuses for myself:

  • The ratio was bad.
  • Having the other guys there made me nervous.
  • Very few of the girls were sufficiently attractive.
  • People were pretty unfriendly in response to approaches.

I tried to dance with several girls, but usually they'd acknowledge me briefly and then look away, and a few refused to make any kind of eye contact at all. J did better: he's a pretty good dancer (despite what he says) and he got several girls to dance with him. He said that his difficulty was transitioning from dancing to talking. S danced his butt off, but I didn't see him approach anyone.

I left the dance floor at one point and approached an HB4 who was sitting on a couch. She smiled skeptically and pretty effectively shut me down. After that I felt ready to approach more, but just couldn't lock on any targets.

I don't want to analyze this too much. I'm pretty sure we all had a good time, but sarging it was not.
