Thank you for your comment! I’ve had in the past issues with boyfriends that just don’t stick to the agreement I lay out that he should behave like I do with the opposite sex. The last guy kept his female friend a total secret and I knew nothing about her even though we lived together for 6 months (together 2 years). It was so shady and the texts were very suggestive. So much for her ‘being like a sister’. Anyway the backlash from that was the girl in question was a bit of a stuck up snob when i…

They never care about what went wrong either. They knew what they were doing and didn’t care about the consequences. Can you think of many men giving a woman time for a discussion or having a single thing to say if he finds her cheating? No they just leave. They don’t even talk about it. We need to level up

Thanks for your reply! You’re right about male-male friendships they seem to be so strong with very little effort. The only reason I can see a man needing to be ‘friends’ with a woman that’s not his gf is to be a potential shag if things with gf went wrong. Or just general extra affection, adoration and ego boost. It’s so common these days and I’m sick to death of meeting guys that seem to be incapable of being faithful to one woman. I’m definitely suspicious of a man if he’s my bf but texting g…

Thank you for taking the time to reach out and leave such a positive and kind message. I’m so grateful for this group, I used to think I was the only one going through these things. I will never understand men that enjoy abusing or undermining women. Especially women who were just happy, content and wholesome when they met. Maybe they like to feel powerful breaking someone down. That experience really hurt me deep. Thanks again lovely lady, you have made my day 💛

I saw a recommended video related to this one about Haile Berry and what she learned from being cheated on. Can not believe a woman that beautiful and goddess-like got cheated on. I mean I know that doesn’t protect you from men treating you like crap but damn. What do men want!? Why can’t we just be happy with monogamous relationships ???

This is great timing, I was very sad these past few days. I kept thinking, if only I were prettier, smarter, with the looks and confidence of Megan Fox, I’d be ok. My ex made me feel like I’m ugly ( he said I only look pretty when I first wake up) and dumb (he expected me to never forget anything, always be perfect). Cried myself to sleep last night thinking about these things and how the hell did I mess up so bad to attract arseholes into my life. I feel less alone seeing other ladies commentin…

I would be so upset if I received a birthday letter like yours also! I think I’d be more pissed that he used my lip liner .. makeup is expensive !! Honestly how little effort is it to go to the shop and buy a card ? If I ever have a son, I will give him lessons on how to give gifts and cards 😒😒

My ex bought me an anniversary card once and left it on his table. He didn’t write in it or give it to me. He kept it for a year after that (I stayed with him like an arse). I even asked him to just write in it and give it to me. He wouldn’t do it. One day I found it on his desk (this is after moving house and he took it with him!!!) with a pen next to it. It stayed there for 3 days then I ripped it up and put it in the bin.

I had a guy do this to me subtly from the 1st date. So I’d busy myself with something and he’d be all put out because I’m busy. Weirdly he’d get all jealous of something as simple as me reading a book. He’d want to interrupt me and get my attention. Same if i worked on my laptop or even engrossed in writing a Reddit comment on here lol. He’d try to see what I was so busy with. But when I put everything down, want to talk or spend time together he’s not interested. Strange little man.

Girl, my guy could not stop talking with friends, neighbours, shop owners, anyone who looked at him he was desperate to chat. Once he started he wouldn’t shut up. Meanwhile we’ve just spent the whole day and night in silence because I’m not good enough to talk to. And let’s not forget the very polite and charming attention also given to female shop assistants, waitresses and girls from ‘around’. I agree. If he’s proven himself to be a secretive, cheating, lying little rat, then it’s not selfish for you to now keep your cards close to your chest. Do what’s best for you. I agree with playing nice until lockdown restrictions aren’t as bad, then bust a move out of there. Stay calm, and start to plan your future without that muppet. My ex did the same thing behind my back with coworkers and he never changed. His apologies were empty. Cut your losses but plan carefully. Just shut down emotion…

At this point in my life I would really appreciate being called hot. My last boyfriend had nothing NOTHING nice to say about me and I spent two years without any compliments. Now if a random man passing on the street calls me pretty or smiles at me, I feel great for the rest of the day. Not saying I need men to say things to make me feel good about myself but Right now I just appreciate it. Obviously genuine compliments are the best.

I met a girl that pretended to really really like football (soccer) just to seem cool to guys. She would go to the matches with her guy friends as a way to meet men and flirt. She would get invited to guys houses to watch matches with them on tv. God it was so cringe and desperate but some of these men were so dumb they really thought she loved football when it was so obvious she was looking for D

The replies to his post are brilliant, I was so worried to read other creeps egging him on. The first comment was perfect. “There’s nothing admirable about paying for a lot of sex. You are paying money to destroy your soul” well said and so true. I feel awful for the long term girlfriend.

Girl you did the right thing. Make sure you erase him from your memory and pretend you never met the guy. I dated a guy just like Gru and I’m still in the process of healing. He wore my self esteem down so hard. I am trying really hard to love myself again but it’s very difficult. I feel ugly. I am petite 48kg but I don’t like my body because he said I’m not curvy enough. The most revolting thing that happened to me which was utter disrespect, was taking a shit with the bathroom door open. It just so happened that the bathroom led on from the living room. It was disgusting. He just started doing it and I didn’t know why. My ex hated it. He was convinced men are mostly the victim of false rape and that women are malicious people that do this because ‘people believe them more than men’. He argues that there are so many men in prison because of false rape. He also had a bee in his bonnet about women taking custody of kids and not letting men see their kids just to be evil. A young couple we both knew got married and shortly after the girl got pregnant. My ex was absolutely livid and said the girl ‘fucking ruined he…

This is very well written and I agree with everything. I’m not sure the likelihood that I’ll meet a man like this. A man that is a gentleman and focused only on one woman. If I were to be cynical I would say 90% of men have safety net women. I hope I meet a special one that doesn’t. Also it terrifies me the number of men that don’t believe in the idea of love anymore (just my experience) .. it’s very saddening

It’s so weird I’ve had two guys do this to me as well. One guy tried to get me to cross the road when a bus was coming. We made it across fine but I was annoyed and said that he nearly killed me. His response was “nobody would care if you died”. The next one would cross the road without me ALL THE TIME. And pretend I’m not there. All my life I’ve never been able to keep eye contact with guys in public. I’m so shy I just don’t look at people in the face if I’m walking around/ at the gym etc. It sounds so stupid but I’ve got used to it. I know this sounds stupid, but he is Spanish and here I feel like there are some factors which muddy the water. I've noticed that people stay friends with those they have known since kids. Girls and boys. They stay in these groups all their lives. I said: - it’s not fair to keep secrets - what is the point of the relationship if my valid concerns aren’t important to you - 1:1 activities with opposite sex are not appropriate, and reserved for your couple, regardless on how long you were friends - Girls like his friend only want attention and skating is just an excuse to spend time together - she should spend time with her own boyfriend - the texts were sexy so clearly the relationship isn’t platonic “brother/sister” as he claimed - he make…

If we women try to do the same, the men we flirt with think that we want something romantically or just sexually. I just don’t even entertain guys when I am in a relationship but it’s surprising the number of guys I’ve been involved with that have this stupid harem system

Yeh I tried to sort of do what he did to me to see if I could use it as a coping mechanism but 1) I didn’t feel good about it... an eye for an eye wasn’t my style.. I just wanted a normal 2 people relationship 2) I actually got scared to admit to him I was (sort of) doing the same thing because I knew he’d get very angry with me Whenever I got upset about a female friend, he would apologise to appease me but Carry on if not worse behind my back. Yep it’s shocking and unfortunately these men are able to gaslight some women into believing it’s ok.. me included. Just look at the main dating threads on reddit. Funny you mention that because he would do shitty things like always make me carry the heavy shopping basket in the supermarket. When we walk into the shop he’d just saunter past the baskets, and fuck off wiThout me. Then put shopping in my basket. Then wander off again trying to lose me, pretending I’m not even there, leaving me to drag the shopping around. When I told him about this he just said, “I like having a slave”. It didn’t even sound like a joke he was just being an arrogant prick And …

“Love is when you know the differences you have with the other person and you accept them.” Exactly sis, well said

No he was with his ex almost 5 years but i never understood why they broke up (shes very beautiful and I don’t believe he couldn’t fall in love with her). She left him but I can only imagine it’s because of his lack of effort and being selfish. I met him and our relationship half a year after his breakup and i could really feel he was heartbroken. Even until one year ago he was still talking about his ex with his friends in ear shot of me. So for him to say he’s never felt love is really weird. …

I’m so happy you have discovered the truth- that you are valuable as you are, and you don’t need male validation to see yourself as worthy. Your post is very interesting as I just dated a Spanish man for 2 years. I’m still here in Spain. My boyfriend demoralised me and would not stop chasing other women while we were together. Nothing i did was good enough for him and he emotionally and psychologically abused me. Even if I was in tears from his behaviour, he would leave me in the bedroom crying,…

Yes the first two years I feel you can see if he passes or fails. I was happy to see my boyfriend was very clean in the house, always cooked for us, excellent at saving (although a total cheap skate with me), and was totally uninterested in gaming or computers. I Thought i’d found a man. Sadly that’s where the pros ended. He told me two weeks before our 2 year anniversary (Valentines Day) that he didn’t love me. He wasn’t going to tell me but I had asked him. Oddly he also didn’t want to lose me…

This is literally spot on with LVM. With my last LVM boyfriend I was clutching at straws trying to keep the relationship alive after HE made awful mistakes that weren’t my fault. During a conversation following ‘his apology’ to me about his behaviour with other women, (he wanted to have this conversation) I asked him, “where do you see this relationship going? What do you want to do to continue?” His reply was a list of things I needed to fix! LOL. Including: - Be more happy because it’s contagi…

This is sadly how you get trapped with a crappy boyfriend with very high risk of you getting extremely hurt in the long run. Either intentionally or unintentionally by him. Guys can take care of themselves so don’t feel sorry for him. It’s very difficult but you need to do it for yourself. A man like This hardly changes and if anything becomes more of an arse as time goes on .... trust your instincts at the beginning sis, you did right

I’ve had a lot of trouble with Spanish men. They seem to be more open in relationships, flirting with women besides their girlfriend, extremely domineering over women (who they mostly view as inferior) and basically acting like a rat. It has severely destroyed my faith in dating a Mediterranean man. They do however have beautiful brown skin and look after their appearance. Such a shame.

I can’t take it anymore. He won’t even answer the phone if I rarely call him. I asked him over and over to please start verbally and physically showing me affection, and he said ok but never followed through. There is nothing left that this man gives me. I gave him everything and he still criticised me to say I am not doing enough. “I should be happier because it will make him happy”. In what way was your ex abusive ?

I can’t believe you have perfectly described the man I have been dating. I have all the exact same problems, especially with him stonewalling the hell out of me. He will often ignore me when I speak, even if it’s not an argument. During arguments he will gaslight me (even if I have evidence) and start criticising my character. His meagre sorry at the beginning of the apology quickly turns into him telling me all my flaws which seem to be never ending. He focuses greatly on my failures rather tha…

He is emotionally abusive, entitled and unable to show empathy so that totally makes sense. The funny part is that now I’m ignoring him, after he completely demolished me in our last conversation, he keeps texting me bullshit. A video of him roller skating today. A picture of my favourite food at his house. Sweet child, you ripped me up and now you want my attention about literally nothing?

That’s what I told him. First time was like 1 month into the relationship and I didn’t say it back. I feel like when he realised I wasn’t perfect after 1 month he just stopped feeling lovey. He’s capable of telling other girl “friends” of his, that they are beautiful and they looked gorgeous after a night out... (WEIRD .. I think he loves to flirt and see what he can get) but he’s stubborn to say these things to me. He knows I would like it so he with holds it like a punishment/ goal for me that…

he already flirts with women when I am not around. He can be quite charming and likes looking at/talking to women. He likes the validation. When I dumped his ass he was ‘very sorry’ and wanted to drive to me to talk to me about everything. he said he wants to be with me yet he isn’t changing his tune about his idea on love. I don’t understand this man. I’ve set boundaries before yet he crosses them

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
