You will have to carry insurance but the bills should be 50/50

I'm good. I inherited my childhood home and a good amount of money. Inheritance is not marital property in Ohio, so I'm set ! I guess I'm one of the lucky few.

Sorry guy. I know it's hard. But sounds like she is a hosebag. The sooner the better she is gone. As for drinking, I stopped when I left.

Your responsibility for her ended when the papers were signed. Being a " good guy " does nothing but cost you money.

I'm 60 and can't even think of dating again. I own my own home, am going to retire in two years and plan to spend the rest of my life immersed in my grandchildren and hobbies. I plan to enjoy what I can and die alone in my home.

Sorry dude but my advice is go for thr jugular.

Hey been there. You need to do that now. Women will wear down which in her case seems to be working.

Start small. Put some cash aside. Let it grow. Whatever you drive make sure it is in your name. Do research on a place to live.

Ha ha. My next " relationship " will be me, my hobbies and not much else. Getting out of a 18 year marriage and retire in 2 years. I inherited my parents house so she can't touch.

It never ceases to amaze me. Most people fall in love and get married in less than a year. Then they act surprised when years later no love is left.

I inherited my parents home and in Ohio inheritance is not marital property.

No I'm talking about selling the house. Split paying off the mortgage and split the equity then whatever profits there are split that.

My situation. My stbx is the major bread winner. We have/ will had a nice expensive house, deck, pool and on. Anyway I will definitely come out ahead on a 50/50 split. M

My stbx makes twice what I make. My attorney says if she refuses to deal we can go for spousal support. Because of our income difference the court already shot down me paying child support.

My stbx let her daughter curse me out about a year ago. That was the start of the downward slide. We had a nice house that I intend to sell. Big price for disrespect.

I planned, like 4 or 6 years out. I inherited my parents home. In Ohio inheritance is not marital property. Step two, I " sold " it to my adult son. Step three, slowly move my prized possessions out so as not to be noticeable. Step four, about three years ago I opened my own back account. Took about two years in planning but I have a nice rent free home, my possessions are safe and oh the children are at an age they can decide what to do. They both drive and I live 7 minutes away. As a bonus our…

Damn I'm lucky. I inherited my parents house which she can touch in Ohio. Also she makes twice my income so no child support was order. Married 17 years and have a 350.000 house which according to Ohio law has to be sold and split. I stand to come out with at least 100 grand. Not a bad trade for a woman who spends most her time on her phone !

I'm good thanks. I am living with my son and grandson. I retire in two years. I'm spending my golden years enjoying my hobbies and taking my grandson to sports. It's kinda nice to have so few responsibilities. Just going to enjoy one day at a time.
/r/Divorce_Men28/05/24 08:56 PM

I'm 60 and on my third divorce. I am perfectly happy to spend my golden years alone.

My wife went all in on renovating the house. She pulled up carpet in the basement and painted it pink ? I fully intend to sell the house or let her buy me out, which she can't. I call it denial plus !!!
/r/Divorce_Men16/05/24 09:38 PM

I have not spoken to my stbx in six months. She insists on talking thru our 17 year old daughter. Kinda funny since we still live in the same house ! Anyway, my attorney says that just proves how petty she is. I recently had to file a contempt charge on her because she stripped out the carpet in the basement and painted it pink ! Point is, give an idiot a piece of rope and sonner or later thay will hang themselves...

Consultant another lawyer. The hundreds you spend today could save you thousands.
/r/Divorce_Men06/05/24 03:21 AM

Oh yea. We are an older couple and we share custody of my 11 years old grandson. Notice I said my grandson. He is the son of my daughter from a previous marriage. No way am I leaving him here ! I'm staying till it's sold ! I have an advantage that my son lives about 7 minutes from me and I spend most my off time abd days off there.
/r/Divorce_Men29/04/24 06:02 PM

Update. My attorney is going to file a contempt charge for violating the mutual protection order that states no major changes are to be made. At least it will be a matter of court record.
/r/Divorce_Men29/04/24 05:58 PM

She says she is keeping it. I'm supposed to just walk away and give it to her. I'm serious that's what she thinks.
/r/Divorce_Men29/04/24 05:54 PM

I'm going to see if my attorney can file something to make her stop. I am also going to ask the court that she returns the basement to its original condition. Fortunately I was smart enough to take video records of the entire house before she started this.

59 here. My options are widows and women who has been married three times. I found that I can't compare with a dead husband and the divorced women, well there is a reason they were divorced three times ! I will do the occasional dinner or ballgame but thats about it. I value my privacy and my way of living. I have three kids and three grandchildren for company. I actually enjoy eating frozen pizza in my underwear watching what I want on tv.

Buddy I am there. Been married 20 years. I'm 59 and going to move in with my son. I feel the last 20 years have been a complete waste.

I'm 59. I came to the conclusion that is is better to be alone and have self respect than to be with someone who has no respect for you
/r/Divorce_Men22/04/24 02:37 PM

Yea I'm 6 months in after filling and refuse to leave because of the children. She said me being there makes her uncomfortable. I said fuck you then move but if you take the children I'm putting kidnapping charges on you ass. I was always the weak one and the appeaser. She just pushed till I pushed back, hard !

My wife makes twice ny income. I hope that helps. All I want is my half of the house.

If your at the point of divorce who cares ? She will find someone else soon anyway. All women do because men will hit anything ! Lol. Anyway take the high road. If your done your done. At a certain point a divorce is just a business transaction. Get as much as you can.

Funny you mentioned your mother. One of the reasons my wife and I drifted apart is because I spent three years making sure I kept my mother in her home. She died after 6 months in a nursing home. By that time we had drifted so far apart it was useless. I have my 11 year old grandson to take care of so that is my future.
/r/Divorce_Men15/03/24 06:49 PM

Thanks for the pep talk but honestly I think I am way better off giving my grandson the best start I can. And for myself I don't think I have enough time left to get over this and move on. I'm fine raising my grandson and spending time with my hobbies.

I'm almost divorced, 59 years old and retire when I hit 62. My plan is to move to Bozeman Montana. I can buy a small 75 to 100 grand house outright so I'll just have to pay for the basics.
/r/Divorce_Men14/03/24 02:09 AM

I moved in with my son and grandson. I also have made up my mind that a close relationship with anyone in the future is out. Of course I am 59 and getting close to the end of my life so that makes things easier. You don't need someone to be happy.

Well my name is on the morgage too . Can I petition the court for a quick sale ?

The civil part is easy. We don't even talk. My big concern is that we share custody of my 11 year old grandson. I am the paternal grandfather. I just hope that carries some weight when I do leave as he wants to be with me.

All I want is custody of my grandson ( mine not hers ) the house sold ( worth 350 grand ) and split. Shared parenting of our 17 year old daughter we have together. She makes twice what I make. If she don't stop I'll go for spousal support and probably get some. She can have the cars ( always wanted to buy an Aston Martin anyway, good excuse lol ) I think I'm being reasonable. Tell me if I'm not. Besides it's not like she is going to make out big. Most of my wealth is inheritance, which is untouc…

I'm 59 going into my 3rd divorce. Uea, yea I know but it's kinda like eating Lays potato chips, you can't eat just one ! Anyway just ride out the bad times and the good times will come again. Remember it's not about the destination but about the journey.

I'm 59 going thru my 3rd divorce. I have an 11 year old grandson to raise and I'm moving in with my son. I'm going from a 400 grand house to a small back bedroom so it's not easy. The plus ? No house payment ( i own the house outright ) so I'm retiring as 62 for sure. Stay positive.

Yea she thinks she's keeping the house, the cars, half my retirement, full custody of the kids. I have 3 years to retire she has 10. Also she makes 106 to my 55 a year. Think I got a shot ?

Lol I'm 59. I retire in 3 years. I plan to finish out on the porch.
/r/Divorce_Men15/01/24 07:05 PM

LOL would love to do that but she won't have it. So.. my solution is to sell the house and let the next owners deal with it. LMAO
/r/Divorce_Men15/01/24 06:40 PM

No her solution was to ask for a divorce. I have considerable inheritance that she can't touch so I'm good financially. It's a case of being careful what you ask for, you may get it !

Tried all those things. Everytime I brought up the subject things got worse. It's like I'm not allowed to have an opinion.
/r/Divorce_Men15/01/24 06:00 PM

Yes her son. We bought the house together so the only issue there will be sell it or her buy me out. I fully expect someone to value blood over marrage but to this extent ? Maybe thats why I'm her third husband.
/r/Divorce_Men15/01/24 05:57 PM

Yes but a different situation. My divorce was initiated by me because her deadbeat son is living with us and moved his girlfriend in who has a child endangerment conviction. To be honest like a midget at a urinal, I'll be on my toes when she is ordered out.

Yea the past two months I have gotten the silent treatment but I'm ok with it.
/r/Divorce_Men10/01/24 02:57 AM

Depending on the situation. My STBX are still living in the same house with the kids. I'm not leaving till it's settled. Best not to get into endless pissing matchs. Hard enough to stay under one roof.
/r/Divorce_Men10/01/24 01:53 AM

None really. Just to be a jerk I guess but no I will give her a heads up. Be the better person.
/r/Divorce_Men10/01/24 01:30 AM

My state " ohio " you can. In fact if you move out it could be seen as abandonment
/r/Divorce_Men09/01/24 10:49 PM

Yea it might but honestly making a deal is not off the table. Better that than have the court split everything. Trying to keep things civil if just for the kids
/r/Divorce_Men09/01/24 10:38 PM

Yea I'm gonna tell her. Makes me look a lot less petty anyway

Yes I have an attorney. I have filed and she should get served this week. I kinda did some attorney shopping to be honest. I ended up with a fairly new female attorney but she works for a very established firm in my area. I quess I just like to think out loud so to speak.
/r/Divorce_Men07/01/24 09:11 PM

I fully intend too.
/r/Divorce_Men07/01/24 08:18 PM

Give the kids some credit. They know more than you think. My tipping point was my grandsons birthday. ( I have custody ) anyway he asked for us not to fight on his birthday. Enough said.
/r/Divorce_Men07/01/24 12:55 AM

Sounds like she is still a child A lot of women show you who they really are when they have a kid to hold over you.
/r/Divorce_Men05/01/24 12:30 AM
3

I'm on my third divorce. This one started because my STBX let her deadbeat son move his girlfriend in with us. Turns out she lost custody of her own child do to a child endangerment conviction. Basically this, if your getting divorced it is because you don't get along. Her pretending to get along is just that. Go for the jugular !!!
/r/Divorce_Men03/01/24 04:34 AM
4

I'm staying too. My reason is one of the reasons I filed was because her aduld son moved his girlfriend in. She lost custody of her kid due a child endangerment conviction. My big premise is to stay to protect my children
/r/Divorce_Men03/01/24 12:38 AM
2

Yes it does. My STBX went out with her friends on new years eve. It will get worse before it gets better. Such is life.
/r/Divorce_Men01/01/24 09:27 PM

No it's typical for her. Her biological kids can do no wrong no matter how wrong they are.
/r/Divorce_Men01/01/24 06:17 PM
2

Get this one. My STBX thinks she is going to get full custody of our kids because I like to drink. BUT, just on days that I can and never around the children. Also I have never gone to bars, got a DUI or been in any trouble alcohol related. In fact I have been going to counseling to cut back. Probably after the divorce quit. Anyway at the same time she allows her adult son and his girlfriend to live in the house. The girlfriend was convicted of child endangerment and lost custody of her own chil…

I filed. She has allowed her sdult son to live in the house for over a year and he won't work. He moved his girlfriend in. Last straw
/r/Divorce_Men27/12/23 11:58 PM

Well I'm ashamed to say I'm starting my third divorce. Pro tip, have her take a pic of her meds to send you instead of boobs. Anyway, my favorite saying to myself is that no, I'm not ok. But, I will be !

Dude, 59 here. I went to Bob Evans today by myself for Christmas dinner. I even got invited to join another family for dinner ( I declined ). I think people think of us older men more as widows or tragic cases than creepy.

17 years here. I admittedly was not the best husband or stepfather but she was not the best wife or stepmother. I am one of the lucky few. I inherited my parents house and sold it to my son with the understanding that I would be living there. This is both of ours third marrage so I guess it was both of us. I'm never marrying again I'll just toolbox. ( nut and bolt ) LMAO !!!

It's nice to be appreciated. With my ex I always felt when I did something for her I was just trying to catch up.
/r/Divorce_Men24/12/23 12:47 AM

Don't fall for it. The biggest reason for my divorce was because my ex allowed her son to move in over a year ago to " get on his feet "

Yes in ohio its a guardian at liden. Also her 26 year old son is living in the basement with his girlfriend. She just happens to have been convicted of child endangerment and lost custody of her own daughter. So no way I leave an 11 year old around gutter trash like that.
/r/Divorce_Men20/12/23 05:26 PM

Well we both share custody. I have no issue her seeing him as much as he wants too because I know her interest will fade in time. By golly gee he is my blood !

You never get over your ex. She was a big part of your life. It just fades.

Yea I know. Plus I buy and trade a lot as a hobby. It will sink into a he says / she says and only the attorneys will make money. Bank accounts, savings, investments, things like that with a paper trail is what the court is intrested in. Besides, I had a terrible boating accident lol

Be careful what you look for. You may find it !

My opinion. Men who are a bit older seem to define themselves by the relationship they are in. In all my married years I went to more things alone than wirh her. She was just window dressing.

Sorry dude. Really. I just had to come to terms with the fact that fair is a place to ride the merry go round, eat cotton candy and step in pig shit.

My ex is trying to say I have a huge gun collection. I have one but not to the extent she thinks. My attorney simply asked her attorney to produce photos with serial numbers then check with the ATF. Oh yea, the ATF won't get involved in a civil case.

Yes it sucks. My STBXW gave me paperwork to end our marriage " easy " In short she wanted everything. I took the plunge and filed first. Sometimes you just have to maintain an even strength and suck it up.

It's normal. Hate is really not a normal human condition. That said, I did everything I could to break my ex and yes, it felt good !!!

My ex allowed her 26 year old deadbeat son to move his girlfriend in. We had 2 under 18 children. The girlfriend had a conviction on her record for child endangerment. It was worth the money to file first to listen to her to try to explain to a judge why she thought that was a good idea.

You have to get mean. Down and dirty mean. Don't think about what she did to help you in the past. Think about how she let some other dude slobber all over her !

Yes you can. Dig deep and find your innermost strength. You can do it. If a weak fuck like me could do it I know you can.

Nothing left. Save you daughter by dumping the whore.

Don't recommend but unfortunately I have been hitting the bottle, hard. After work every day and all weekend.

My situation except her deadbeat son is 26 and his girlfriend lives in my basement with him. Fortunately in Ohio it's a 50/50 state so I'm selling the house out from under all their asses !!!

Something to think about. Perhaps out of all those years together this was the FIRST time you caught her.

Not what I meant and sorry you took it wrong. I just assumed you left. A lot of men do that when a divorce is inevitable. As awkward as it is I made the decision to stay in my house with my STBX until the house is sold. That way I can remove my belongings at my convenience. Fortunately I have a another house ( inheritance so she can't touch it ) to move to.

Thats why you never let the woman kick you out.

At the end of the day a judge is obligated to go by the law. To think a judge has it in for anybody is somewhat foolish. They see about 40 cases a week.

Well I plan to have my attorney to ask the judge if the court will take responsibility if something happens. Hope it works.

When my wife allowed my step daughter to cuss me out and said nothing. However, about a year later I inherited a house and quite a bit of money. Fortunately inheritance in Ohio is not marital property. I have an escape plan that is in motion as I write this.

Because she " lives in the moment " her mother died with a savings account. Never got a chance to spend it all lol

No. All my inheritance went into my own account with only my name on it. Our joint account has never seen a penny of my inheritance.

Well she backed off some. Shared custody on the daughter and no alomony. She also said no child support but I think that is set by the state ( ohio ) i also have a um collection of things I want to keep
/r/Divorce_Men15/11/23 05:20 PM

Update. She dropped her demands for full custody, alomony and child support. She is holding firm on the rest. She hinted that she could dip into my inheritance but I live in Ohio and inheritance is not considered marital property. I inherited a house but sold it to my son so I don't think she can get that. Also she still wants half my retirement but yet she cashed in ans spent her 401 a few years ago. I know a bit of of it is personal. She wants me out so her kids that don't work can move in. Ha…

I'm on the other side of the fence. My wife let's her son and his girlfriend live for free in the basement. They both smoke pot and the girlfriend lost custody of her own kid because of being convicted of child endangerment. She thinks we have " agreed " on everything. Little does she know that a reckoning is upon her !

Get your own attorney. Someone you PAY to be on your side. A lot of the questions that were asked would not have been asked with legal counsel present.

My story. Married 18 years and have a 16 year old girl. She had three k8ds from a previous marrage. I never got along much with her kids cause she always made me the villain. Anyway she says she wants to get a disillusion. She asked for full custody of out daughter, the house. The cars, chilt and spousal support. Talked to an attorney and he said bull. I can sell the house and we split it as it's worth 380,000, keep a car and. She pays me because she makes twice what I do. To the point. Talk to …
