Maybe weird advice, but put the phones away. Seriously. Women are getting their dopamine filled by their phones ALL DAY, so at the end of the day, they're fried. Suggest/enforce a rule for the house and especially the both of you that there's no phones after 6pm, or whatever. Also NO phones in the bedroom, EVER. Wake up with a clock alarm, not the phone. Made a difference for us anyway. Second thought, especially if she's initiating (actions speak louder than words)... it could be that she has s…

The thing about lifting vs everything else is that there are gyms everywhere, very often with extended hours, and they are a great deal for the monthly membership. All that = less excuses. Class times don't matter, you make it part of your schedule. Sure you can get a lot done with bodyweight stuff, but you can only go so heavy, often a bar/weights are simply more efficient. And there are few things that feel better than feeling strong.

/u/Moist_Palpitation_33 This is a great answer. There are circles of men who sail/kite sail/restore cars/etc that are also high worth and will help you to personally grow. They'll often have insight into how markets and the like are moving as well, if you want to start jumping into the "investor" class. Also, with money being the one place I need to work on, I will strongly echo the being a great dad part. It's the most natural way to "give back" if you will. Your kids are still quite small, but…

Yeah... there can be some really good stuff here, but sifting through it seems to be a little harder now-a-days. Still, I think it's good that guys are doing enough self-reflecting to try to make positive changes in their lives. But the point that some miss about this whole MRP is that she's on your team. You're not against each other, she's just a litmus test about where you are in your own journey and how on track you are. Yeah, there's plenty of times she's freaking out just because she's fre…

Yeah, you kinda set yourself up on this one. Would you call/text a buddy if you were going to be late? Probably. If you've got everything dialed in, and you text "Going to grab a beer with Jim after work, should be less than an hour." Her response would be "Say hi for me!" or something else. Just ghosting her and telling her not to worry, yeah you're actually testing her. At least give the same courtesy you would others. If she's weird about that, then you can worry about shit/comfort tests.

It's the first mate/captain thing. It's how they are. If you're man enough, most any woman will be whatever you want. Maybe OP doesn't see it, but this other woman is changing many things about herself to be with this "beta" guy. Many of us guys go to great lengths to change ourselves for the better, so there are parallel journeys there. Maybe she figured it's worth the trade.

just go beat off every time she rejects me ... MRP's opinions on fapping is a whole different topic though... Maybe it’s because I’m a bit older now, but to be wonderfully harsh… Do you REALLY have nothing better to do than jerk off… like, seriously? You have nothing better you could do with that fucking energy? If you wanna look at it from a “be attractive” pov, then do you think ANYONE finds a rejected guy masturbating in a corner attractive? Go on as if you never wanted sex in the first place. Don't ignore her, simply go on about your day with no sexual pressure/thoughts at all. You're not punishing her, you're just going about your day, if she's a part of the normal part of that day, fine, if not, fine. Don't have some weird covert contract, but if she isn't going to be a part of your sex life, then you can find someone who will. (NOT to "show her who's boss" or some weird revenge plot, but simply because she doesn't want to be a p…

/u/szymonsta had a great response. For me, funny enough, we were on our way up to their place in an elevator… I wasn’t sure when else we would be alone, so I just did it quickly. He gave some advice about family & finances being important, just general good advice that seemed appropriate. In retrospect I probably cornered him a little, but it’s 17 years later, and the wife jokes that I get along better with her parents than she does. A couple suggestions. For those of us at the start of the journey, it can be tricky to ride the line between STFU, over/under engagement, comfort/shit test, and just “normal” female BS/letting off steam. The first question you should answer is why are you getting angry? Is she right? Are you being a drunken captain? Do you lack focus? Is she mentally stable? Most people (men and women) will get out of the way of a man (or person in general) that is focused and headed in a certain direction . She…

You may need to find some new friends, or you may be surprised when one or two of your current friends are happy to not drink as well and have someone they can still hang with. It’s sometimes surprises me ;)

The social part is, indeed, one of the hardest parts to deal with as far as alcohol. If it helps, you can always explain it to people/frame it to them as “I’m doing a 30-day no drinking challenge.” This helps people to put you in the box of you doing a challenge for yourself, and not judging them. I’ve found it tends to help with the “C’mon, have a drink with us!” kind of thing. Also, once word gets around (the room, or your circle of friends) that you’re doing the challenge, if anyone gives you…

She’s growing a mean mustache and snores really bad. We share a bed but she always puts a pillow between us and says it helps support her back and sleep better. So what are your thoughts??? Jesus.... Did I just really read that? I don’t know whether to laugh or slap you both. She takes her cues from you. You’ve let yourself go, and so has she. Two things you need to do, both of equal importance. lift stop jerking off Both of these things will help you along the path of desiring your wife more. Good on you for having the family thing dialed in, I think a lot of guys here go Rambo mode and forget that's important. Just realize that she does want to FEEL from time to time. As a TL;DR edit/addendum to my comment... Brutally honest truth? If you were a higher value man, she’d be bragging that you two were together now and that she’s dumping her boyfriend just because there’s a chance with you. Let that sink in.

At best, the "shut the fuck up" that's found on this sub is meant to be a call to examine your true motives about what you're doing. Many posts talk about what the wife wants/how she's reacting instead of what the poster wants. It's a shorthand way of saying, "You don't have your stuff figured out yet, so step back until you have a thought that's your own, that you can stand up and own." They are, quite literally, shit tests. If you can take some strangers on the internet giving you shit, then (…

This is a legit answer. FWIW to the original OP I fucking hate this game of looking for how men are victims. It’s like watching a movie looking for things to be offended about. There are real fucking crazy women out there that use the system to fuck men out of being able to see their kids. Often, they are helped by other men to do this. It should change. But I’m not into walking around all day looking for the places where I’m a victim... I’m to busy getting shit done.

As someone who is 10 years ahead of you, money is a HUGE stress to take off the table. If you’re serious about retiring at 35, and you will, indeed, be very well financially set, than you will easily be 40 years AHEAD of 99% of the population. At that time, you can have your pick of women. IMO it will be VERY easy for you to find a girl in her mid-late 20’s (or many of them) who are not only hot as hell, but won’t have the typical drama of women in their early 20’s. If you’re really bent out of …

Oral sex and vaginal sex aren’t the same in many people’s minds. Some women don’t consider it in their “count” and many men in LTR’s don’t consider it cheating. You have to figure out if it more important that she’s truthful with you, or that she’s better at lying. I’d rather have the former. If I were you, I’d take the opportunity to get the deed done in as many places as possible, outdoors, concerts, on the road, at least you’ll have some stories to tell. Also, if she’s that sexually “ravenous…

Non-neediness doesn’t have to do with women. It has to do with being on point with the bigger mission of your life, whatever you’ve determined that to be. Being the best snowboarder, programmer, stock trader, dancer, whatever, means that you are headed someplace with purpose, and chances are, you don’t need sexual attention from women to get there. Non-neediness doesn’t come from a monologue in your head, it comes from having better shit to do, like lifting and moving your life forward.

You sound like tons of fun. On the flip side, you could've thought. It's called a "covert contract." You made a deal/test without telling them. It's actually something that women do all the time. They DON'T do something to see if you'll notice and when you don't they get all butt-hurt, but you had no idea that you were being fucking "tested." It would be more honest, mature, and clear of you to say to your friends. "Hey, I'm doing a social media detox for the next month or so, but I want to be sure I stay connected to my closest friends. Regardless of my age (mid 40’s now) I’ve always thought the 27-31 age range to be the most attractive. For me, 18-25 might be kinda fun, but the ladies aren’t fully present/in their bodies. Also, to counter a point you’re “18 year old looking up at you” comment above. To me, that’s like a kid being impressed with an obvious magic trick. Impressing an 18 year old is easy mode. Surprisingly, it's not so much about the "RP" of things as it is lying/hiding it, or flaunting it. If you're up front, there are plenty of people who lived how they please, but are up front, honest, but NOT assholes about it. George Clooney (married now), or Leonardo DeCaprio come to mind. People don't like liars or people that brag. So, if you're a gentleman about it, I see no reason that any particular philosophy (like RP) would by itself disqualify you from office, or the public eye. Of cours…

I think “old fashioned”/classic Playboy, which is basically just natural and naked girls, not sexual acts, may skirt the edges a bit. That’s a personal opinion. I’d much rather my son look at that than anything he’s going to find on the internet.

Quick story. Years ago a new guy got hired to replace someone at a job. We were a super tight group, constantly giving each other shit, no one took anything to seriously/personally and we worked as a great team. I started giving this new guy shit right off the bat, not any different than anyone else, I just jumped right in since he seemed to give off a cool vibe. There’s a difference between someone doing something “for you” vs doing it because it needs to get done. Generally, don’t shit where you eat. You can use that an “excuse” if you’d like as well. “I don’t date people from work.” You just have to stick to it if suddenly a 10 gets hired. White lies are fine if it’s about saving face and you can establish a boundary line. But in the vast majority of cases you can find a way to tell the truth gently, so people aren’t under false pretenses, and they save face as well. In general, don’t lie.

While this could be a subject for an entire book, I think /u/W_O_M_B_A_T has it pretty close. ALL people are victims when they first show up, you are dependent on others for all of your needs, and have to literally scream and cry to get your needs met. A combination of good parenting, life experience, and opportunity to fail hopefully get us to the point where we realize that we have responsibility for our own lives. It’s about saving face. It works both ways. She can also turn you down by saying she’s not into a movie night, instead of telling you she has a yeast infection or your junk stinks. Yes, it would be easier if we were all up front about everything, but that assumes that we are all mature adults capable of not taking things personally. Let the girl put your penis in side her vagina. As in, you're both naked, about to fuck, you stop and let her grab your penis and put it inside her. While generally talking about politics isn’t necessarily a good idea, if you can make the discussion more about asking questions then statements, you’ll have a better time. Wow. Assuming you’re not here for the usual “spin as many plates as possible”... The thing you are most worried about Ina life partner, is whether she slept with another guy. Not if you two can hold a conversation for the next 60 years, not if you have life goals that overlap, not if you agree on how family should run, not who’s inlaws house you’ll be at for the holidays, not if/how many kids you two want, not ANY OTHER LIFE DETAIL. You are obsessed with if she’s slept with another guy. Wow. Wor…

to let his kid throwing a fit dictate what is going to happen in the house... Children are a great tool in situations like this, they learn much quicker then an adult women. I'll give you both of these. Also there is a more productive/easier path for some things than others. What I was bad at trying to communicate is that I see a lot of guys on here wondering why their drunk captain bulldozing leaves the family in chaos where there's a better way to do things. You should be able to run the house without her. That’s when you know you’re leading. Also, communication. If there 3 year old is freaking out about a bath, and you think it’s just not worth the effort, communicate that. “Honey, she’s throwing a fit about the bath, and I’m just not in the mood tonight, so we’re skipping it, I’ll bribe her for one tomorrow.” This verbally lets you (and your wife) know that a decision was made about bath time, and a solution has been reached. It's not an insult. The fact that she wants to go out again is a good sign, and believe it or not, some girls like a guy with a modicum of self control. That and she may be a little paranoid about the whole corona thing and not keen on trading germs with anyone. It sounds like your lady likes a little drama, if you can captain properly, and get ahead of it, AND eventually get her laughing about her own craziness.... THEN you are actually her “rock/oak” or whatever. To push the metaphor, of an oak doesn’t bend a bit in the wind, then it’ll snap. It’s not about being a hardass ALL the time. We are speaking volumes through our actions, but not really saying anything. Admittedly, scanned and read highlights... but this should be noted. Our behavior (action) reflects our beliefs, and therefore how we construct the world around us. Far more than our words do. Action is the proof of the theory. When you speak, you want your lady to think “Of course that’s what he thinks, look at how he acts.”

Agreed. I meant “fawning all over her” as shifting your mission too far towards her, instead of continuing to build your own life. What you focus on/spend energy on grows, so yes, if you want a really good LTR, then you do indeed have to dedicate time to that as well. The one thing women hate more than anything is getting rejected. It fucks with their ENTIRE world view/social hierarchy & power structure. Giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are, indeed, the most attractive guy in your group, you’re raising the SMV of all the guys in your group. If your buddy is 3/10, he’s chilling with you, an 8/10, so that bumps him up to 4, or maybe even 5 in a girls mind. Some good stuff here, mostly for asking what your priorities are. Another take. If you go ahead with her exploring, take the lead. Thanks for this... leading up to this, it does seem like that my journey into the MRP of things has allowed her to open up more. I sear that even being more assertive during sex has allowed her to make more breakthroughs. She may not even be aware of it, but the more I take charge, the more she relaxes and can deal with the deeper shit. Thanks for your response. I really think I'm headed the way you suggest.

Don’t lie. Just don’t. Agree and amplify can work, while allowing you to keep frame. “What did she say? Did she leave out the part where we rented a limo and drove around the city standing on the roof naked wearing nothing but a cape blowing in the wind? The cape was on my penis, by the way.” If something doesn’t align with your vision of yourself enough that you have to lie about it, then you either have to change your vision of yourself/your goals, or check your actions and get on track.

Keto fucking works for weight loss. It’s NOT a performance approach to nutrition (as in you’re not going to win any 5K’s). But I know more than a few people personally who’ve dropped 40+ pounds using it. Wait... what’s up with those PSsss ... did you already figure this out?

/u/jay_jay_man has a good call with the jiujitsu. Basically, the best way to build confidence is to get really good at something, usually something outside of career, though that’s not required. Pick up a hobby, anything really, and get really good at it. Once you feel like you’re in the top 10% of the general population in something, you’ll probably be more confidant. Learn to be more concise. “Eat meat & vegetables, nuts & seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. My armchair advice? Still lift. I wouldn’t do 1 rep maxes or anything, but I suspect the taking time off lifting will have more of an effect on muscle atrophy than the not eating. Still doing minimal lifting would help to keep the muscle on. You could also just do amino acids for the time your not eating, giving yourself essentially no calories, but the building blood blocks to maintain muscle repair. If you’re really worried about it... go 3 days (72 hrs)first, then, a few months from now, go 4…

PS. Careful with “haters” Those are perceived if A- You’re not taking full responsibility for your life and are placing blame somewhere else, or (usually people are FAR too obsessed with themselves to spend energy hating you) B- you’re not being honest in your relationships, both male and femal. It’s not so much about behavior as about mission. You can behave according to societal norms while in groups and the like, but if it’s clear that you have a destination in life, and are heading towards it, and prioritizing it, that’s where people will notice the leadership behavior.

Your response to my comment is all about women. Your original post asked the questions essentially “Is this it? What’s the end goal?” You need to change your mind set. The end goal has very little to do with women, and much more to do with your positive affect on your community, and possibly the world. What you’ll find is that you will attract a different kind of woman, since their are far fewer who see the bigger picture. While, indeed, there is an element of AWALT with everything you’ve experi…

One of the biggest take-aways for me is that a woman is most attracted to you when you A - Have all your shit together, and by extension B - Don't need a woman. It sounds like you've figured out that neediness isn't attractive, which is good. For those of us fighting the nice-guy tendencies, that can be a constant battle. The involuntary crying thing might require some Jedi mind tricks. Can you make the transfer of kids quicker (less time to get emotionally overwhelmed)? Can you make getting the…

Here’s a different way to think about it. What if the best thing for your kids was to see you happy & thriving in life (with or without your ex). The biggest assumption you’re making (I, and many others have done/do the same) is that you can see the best path from where you are/have been. If you’re really honest with yourself (it ain’t easy) you’ll realize that whatever rules/thoughts you’ve living by got you here. If you want a different life, you at least have to be willing to entertain and at…

It may/may not be about opinion. From the looks, it’s up to you. Wear protection (you should be anyways) since you’ll be in contact with blood. For most women it’s more of an “ew” factor. Some women find it painful/very uncomfortable to have sex while on their period. If that’s the case, then like another poster said, blow jobs are on the menu.

One of the things that I realized about my wife, is that she has decision fatigue. Your lady, being quite successful, could suffer from the same. She'll feel the most swept away if you lead (make the decisions, take the captain's chair) in the relationship. I dont know your lady beyond what you've describe, but it could be she doesn't care so much about your professional life, as much as she wants to be able to relax and not think and go with the flow when she's around you. Basically... LEAD. Pl…

One of the best things I like about JP is that asks deep questions, and is okay not having an answer, or even leading to another question. A lot of his talks are hedged with phrases like “as far as I can tell,” or other phrases indicating his ideas are evolving. For me, he helped to re-focus my Christian upbringing into something less dogmatic & at the same time, deeper and more thoughtful. He acknowledges that a lot of life is painful, but that doesn’t mean you stop. I also like his basic tenan…

In that chapter about petting a cat, he is essentially saying to grasp moments of beauty when they present themselves. With all the shit we have to deal with in life, he posits that there is, indeed, value in stopping to smell the roses. Also, the first 2 or so pages of that chapter are an exercise in satire about how you can pet a dog too, and he didn’t want t offend anyone by putting just cats in the title...it’s a pretty funny diatribe

Jesus Christ... how old are you? you STARTED squatting at 410? I'm in my 40's and am happy to still be repping 225. I've only ever squatted 275 in my life. I'm built leaner, so I'll use that as an excuse. Ballooning quads sounds nice... Maybe I'll do the same thing with curls. ;) To save my ego, I've been on the CrossFit train for a while now, so I could probably beat you at burpees at least. :) Well done.

Busted up our partially cement/tiled back yard last year, and had to carry the demo debris in five-gallon buckets up 5 flights of stairs to the construction/yard dumpster. Picking away at it, about 3 weeks, 3 dumpsters and about 15 tons later, the job was done. I saw a buddy of mine & he asked, “Dude, what’s up with your shoulders?!” Picking up & carrying heavy shit... so simple & so effective. I now do 10 sets once a week for maintenance... good (awful) stuff. ;)

You'll get it. And don't confuse being serious with being focused. If you're focused on something, you can still have fun with it. Funny enough, it was my mother that taught me that there's humor in everything, even death, if the timing and the delivery is right. Basically, NONE of it is as big a deal as you think. As you progress, you'll see that things that used to eat at you for hours (like this) just roll off of you because they truly aren't a big deal.

Some guys here shit on it, but I've found CrossFit to be great for my goals... I'm both quite strong for my size & age (42yrs, 6', 180-185lbs), as well as pretty fast. I have a weird hip injury from high school that effects my lifts and speed, but I still get it done. I can deadlift 2x body weight (365lbs), but can still crank out 100 burpees on less than 5 minutes (4:54). My mile time is between 7-7:30, and just today I hit a back squat at 255 (my hip gives me shit if I got 275 or more). While …

Also, recording yourself may help you realize that you have little ticks or ums or some other time filling vocalization that you don't even realize you're doing. I did it once and thought, "Do I really 'um' that much? Shit." Just like when my cousin saw himself on video at his kid's soccer game & thought, "Holy shit, I'm the fat guy." And used the net year to lose about 60lbs. It's just data, you being a data guy, some things will be obvious (like the um thing) while if you want to go deeper, yo…

My follow up would be - Why do you want to know? While he may be one example of SOME things that TRP tries to teach/practice, there are many, many more robust examples. If you are looking for someone to emulate, you may want to decide who you want to be first (perhaps, at the very least, someone with a modicum of integrety), then find someone who aligns with that.

Women talk in absolutes, but their emotions are a reflection of how they feel right now. Remember this... It's key. This is why a woman can scream, "I hate you, you're an asshole!" And 5 minutes later be naked with you giving you the best sex you've had in months. Once again... You may love a woman, but a woman doesn't love you, she loves the way you make her feel (and that's a constantly moving target).

I think the really tricky part here is if all other things are equal, is being diverse an asset? If two candidates are identical in ability and employee output, I may think it may be advantageous to have a person with a different background (not nec race/gender, though that seems to be what many consider "background"). That person may have ideas/solutions or insight into issues that a homogenous mix wouldn't. All else being the same, I could see this as an asset. I'm not saying I have studies to…

I would take one of those 31-33 year olds for a night over a 22 year for a week any day. Something about that age where women just seem hotter to me. They can't just depend on their youth anymore, and actively putt more effort into their lives. You lucky bastard ;)

Wow... Someone talking sense? Flashing a nipple ring to a group of gay guys? Is that really a big deal to you? Is she flashing her tits to her coworkers? That's a little different. It has to do with context. Most every guy here, whether he admits it or not, wants his girl to be a "whore" only just for themselves & no one else. If it was my girl, I would've made it a joke all night "Anything else you wanna flash?" And had fun with it, then fucked her into submission. But hey, that's me.

This. It's surprising to me how many of the posts in TRP mention this "she disrespects me" thing. I have never seen a woman do this with a man that respects himself & has busted his ass through life to have an appropriate gauge of his self-worth. Not, "respect me because DEER," which is how it seems many times, but rather, "I've got a list of shit to do, and it's important to me and how I want to grow as a man." EDIT - If you're doing your work, then you'll feel respected. If you're looking to h…

It was actually thru some marriage coaching (therapy, whatever) that I realized that my wife wanted to be a sex toy, but was waiting for my lead. Most guys won't believe it, but chances are that "innocent mother of your children" has a lot more dirty thoughts than you give her credit for. She's just waiting on her husband.

THIS... Some guys have it after their first kid, where now they view their wives as mothers and not the sex toy anymore. The surprising thing is that she is, indeed, becoming a wife and (from the sounds) a mom, but she still WANTS to be be a sex toy. Trust me. 95% of the new "kinky" shit we've done have been post children and once I figured out she wanted to be spanked from time to time. Things only got better from there. Check yourself. These helped me ;) Also, time of day seems to make a difference for me. Morning/daytime sex I seem to have better control than after the kids are in bed. I will also sometimes make sure she gets a big O in through my (or her) manual or oral style before I go in for my piece. Also, turns out the wife legitimate likes me to finish on her chest/boobage... So there's that. Also, about 2 shots of tequila seem to have a "lasting effect." I'll have to try the butt clenching too ;)

Similar to gentlemen who are deeply trapped in BP practices, it's easier to see the world as the problem, instead of doing the often hard & relentless work of self improvement. Guys do a similar thing where they think if they're "nice" than girls will fawn over them. Turns out taking care of yourself & having some legitimate vanity about how you look in the mirror, as well as having a drive and direction in life will pull people (including ladies) toward you. Just imagine if you had to pull a true 1-rep deadlift today, then your wife wanted you to do it again tomorrow... A woman will do things like this because she either feels you're too busy and is helping, or she assumes you don't have it handled, so she handles it. Either one can be fixed (assuming you do, indeed, have it handled) with good communication. At this point, with this particular issue, perhaps something like: "Sorry, I should have told you this sooner, but I already made a reservation for your parents at the hotel." "But I told them they'd sleep here." "I know, I'll call them & let them know ther…

Suffice to say. Icing directly after a workout blunts the "good inflammation" that helps build muscle. Waiting an hour post workout to ice seems to help with DOMS & not affect the acute inflammation that leads to muscle growth. But more studies are n…

She's not afraid of conflict, at ALL. It's almost a point of pride. Part of the trick, for me, is that I'm a slow processor, and she's quick. This is the big reason I've found STFU to be such an effective tool for me. Where I wold've tried to engage, I now don't, and give myself time to think, and it always turns out better. This.... thanks for the reminder, and the really good link... It seems we had a better vision on this subject (and a few others now that I think about it) a while ago, and on some things we've been going with the flow a little too much. This is exactly what I needed, thanks.

Not a bad idea.... I've tried in the past being as nonchalant as I can be about it. There's a set of stairs near us that I go do every Sunday, not hardcore, but just to get sweaty. Any time I casually invite her, there's HUGE resistance. I've even offered to pay for pilates or ballet class or whatever she's into. She seems to just see it all as judgement (which I suppose it is a bit). She went for a run a few weeks back and did squats before getting in the shower a bit ago. Do I pat her head and…

Yeah... once the game is strong, other women want to play, and it only takes a little suggestion to get a woman primed. I was literally with all three of my kids a while ago, saw a lady, and figured, what the hell, I'll flirt a little. Within minutes, she was imploring me to meet her later for a drink... KNOWING I had a wife (who happened to not be present), and kids. (I didn't meet her, but she would've, no doubt) Catch and release. After which, as /u/addictedtoyourface suggests, fuck the shit …

Haven't had a chance to read all the comments yet, so sorry if already suggested. But if you wanna "patch it up," do so with the step-dad. Take him out for a beer (if you and he can keep it together), and see if you can laugh about it. If it was me, I'd start with something along the lines of, "Hey, I know you like to set me up with people, you got any connections with Angelina Jolie (or whoever HIS favorite star is=common ground)?" Once you two are laughing, then feel free to through out an apo…

This...so this. How many times have we heard, "He just gets me." As the reason a woman "falls" for someone. What they mean is; he doesn't need to be told, or hinted, about what to do, how to act, or how to treat me...he just knows. For me, that isn't something that happens automatically, it something that is a constant & conscious series of choices. It's becoming more second nature as I embrace this philosophy, but at this point it's still work. STFU has been key.

Building on the rest of the comments, realize that, as a man, the times in your life where you feel complete, whole, and pain-free (both physically & mentally) will be fleeting. For most of us, there is at least constant nagging of dissatisfaction with our lives, or even a feeling of emptiness, that drives us to improve. It isn't that life gets easier, you have to get stronger. We all have demons, some days, they chill in the shadows and leave you alone, other days, they're in your face. That's …

That nagging "stop being a fuckin pussy" in the back of your mind was right the whole time. Before all this MRP stuff, I remember a particular time that I "accidentally alpha-ed" my wife when we were at my parents place one summer. I don't remember all the details, I just remember my wife coming into the kitchen and complaining about something inconsequential with the kids that she wanted me to "fix." Of course, the key is to separate manipulation (tears, nagging, yelling etc) from action (divorce, leaving, jumping on new cock). I will say a lot of guys are way too worried about the former, and way to unobservant to watch for the latter This....this is good shit right here.

it's the reaction we get from those around us, including our wives I think this is truly MRP at it's best, and perhaps where David Deida's stuff truly applies. If you're on your A game all the time and the wife is responding accordingly, she'll be the first indicator that something is off. If she's used to being relaxed, knowing that her man is the rock (that metaphor is getting old, but it works), than she's a nice breeze and an easy sail. The second she sees you're not on the tiller, or aren't…

A woman will forgive anything, but being a weak man. I find the parallel to this is a man who lies. I recently had a friend who I saw as an Alpha, as in big guy, ex college athlete, friendly, but still a DGAF attitude. Turns out he'd been lying about an affair for quite some time. His wife was WAY more pissed about the lying than the cheating. Through the MRP lense, I saw that he was way fucking beta in his relationship, like that weird scared of his wife thing. Agree, that it's not the cheating…

Agree with almost everything here. But as a side note... Get her hormones checked. Sometimes it's literally chemistry. My wife started taking a supplement at the recommendation of her chiropractor, and over the course of three days, went from always bitchy and tired, to hugging me when I returned home after a day of work. I was doing my MRP thing, but hadn't changed anything major over those 3 days. It was literally chemistry. That may or may not be the case for you. Judging from your story, you…

The easy thing about the food combining is you can start today. You don't have to change what you're eating overall, just when & with what else you eat.

Get some digestive enzymes, a broad one that includes lipase and protease, two of the big ones for digesting fat and protein, respectively. Also, you can work with Food Combining, some people think it's a little pseudo-science type stuff, but I have a few personal friends who have seen major changes in their digestive symptoms by addressing the combinations of food they eat.

You want to make these things so small that to do them takes almost no effort. Once you've got the habit going for a couple weeks, move onto the next thing. As far as a b…

Well played. I too both appreciate that it's in the little things that sometimes feel like the biggest victories, and it hasn't truly been until the past year or so that I consider being called an asshole by my wife as a sort of victory. It lets me know that I'm on track.

Ah...good to know...yet intriguing she can change from man to man...I guess that's what a lot of this is for, to be the one she's gonna be HD with before she even shows up.

For sure will grab these... In the mean time, is there talk of shifting women from on type to another...i.e. LD to HD, or (from this books perspective) are these things kind of "set" & they give tools of how to deal with them?

Fist bump dude... this is common sense". It really fucking wasn't. That's my big thing....some people this just comes naturally, others of us have to consciously work at shit (until, hopefully it becomes habit). If you've got a natural gift for gab, then all the small talk stuff is "Duh" to you, while others have to consciously think about how to keep the conversation going in a friendly way. Some of us need a LOT of help with many aspects of our life to figure out why the shit we're doing isn't…

This... or because she was a bitch earlier and hurt your feelings. This is the little piece that I always needs to catch myself on. I still have some of that tit-for-tat mentality where if she's being total ignoring and bitchy, then later wants to play, I kinda feel like I'm reading her in a way. I get that there's the "doesn't matter had sex" attitude, but I'm trying to figure out if sometimes she's using sex in order to maintain some kind of weird control over the situation, i.e. "He can't res…

Well played... I caught myself the other night doing a mini DEER and caught myself in the middle and did my best to STFU...not a huge deal since it was a small thing, but realized that I could've handled it better, always learning. Question for the crew, Do any of you ever just NOT do the sex thing, even if she's in the mood for it. I know that Athol's position is essentially to never refuse sex from the wife (with, I think, the implication, that too many of those will lead her to look elsewhere…

A heartfelt thank you, my good man. I feel like you've spoken to where I've been falling short. The wife (claims to) LOVE having a system in place for everything, yet can't seem to follow her own routines. And, of course, when things go off routine, things get crazy. She started a new job this year, and I think it's taking way more of a toll than she or I anticipated. I'd much ra…

There's me not giving a fuck about her, but still giving a fuck about the experience the kids are having. Her, I can do, and would say that because of slip ups & old habits, and 80% there...it's when her actions affect the kids that I feel I may be off. My frame is stronger by the day. I suspect that some of this fit-type behavior is her subconsciously realizing that she's losing control.

I feel like I did this a good bit last night after I got home (around 7). Basically took care of everything, like I wanted to, to have a smooth evening. As I almost drifted off snuggling, I heard the shower. For the record, most of the best sex I've ever had has bed with women in the 30-33 range...give me one of those over a 22 yr old drama queen any day. To each their own, you can have the younger ones (and I'll concur on your point on childbearing at a younger age, you're one the money there), but I'll take that 30 yr old that actually knows her body's& how to actually walk in heels any day ;)

Being a great dad and connected with your kids is the one of the best ways to get your wife to relax. I know so many couples who's wife wouldn't DARE leave the kids with the husband for the weekend. The problem lies when they guide you, take control, and become the only reason you act or think. I get the point of your post, and I, infant, agree with quite a bit of it, but I'm going to challenge your perspective on it. All of this traditional religion could also be seen as "pre-alpha-conditioning." It's the same argument we'll see someone post on /r/deadbedrooms about doing everything "right" for their wife, but not getting any sex. It sounds like you're lifting so that all the ladies will get out their little notepads & turn to the page for criteria on "Getting in my Pants" then go down the list and saying "O…

Upvote. Especially for acknowledging the fact that your wife isn't (necessarily) your fucking adversary. A ship runs a lot smoother with a first mate, even if that first mate has to test the captain's chops every so often.

Yes...yes it is. Forever I assumed that doing what I thought other people wanted would make them & me happier. Turns out focusing on your own shit is what makes other people want to be around you, & naturally attracts others, including women, to you.

Truth here. Just noticed this today. Been focused on myself & being more consistently on my A-Game personally & professionally. Haven't even really been thinking about sex or wife except to be cordial. I start noticing that there's a lot more "Love yous" from her as well as lady initiated kino. While it's nice and all, I could give a shit, cuz I have shit to do. Women want a fucking leader, once you own your shit and get your life in order, your world (& by extension her legs) naturally open up.

Honestly, we just use the stuff from Costco, since we use it for cooking & other stuff besides lube. We keep a little stash in a glass jar in another cupboard so we don't cross pollinate. But you can go super organic if you want, since it's kinda internal/external use. And you're not using much, so just get a little to start, a full jar will last a long time, even if you're horndogs. ;)

ah...so it's almost more about other, higher value women flirting with ME (or at least the impression that they're interested), that is the bringer of dread. My flirting has a little less to do with it, it about the ladies' ranking each other. Of course, I assume it doesn't hurt that us as guys are open to the flirting, and don't shut it down, that is, without being as ass hat. Thanks for the clarification, it totally helps.

Luckily, I'm a little flirty, so I think my religious upbringing has been whittled away. I was trying to ask about integrity, as in, having made a promise, but I guess as others said above, I kind of already broke that, so integrity is out the window. The ladies may not readily admit to wanting us to make all the calls, but they'll agree that they're tired & worn out at the end of the day. When I used the term, she looked at me with surprise & said essentially, "Yes, that's exactly what it is!" For me, it's no big deal to look into the cupboard, see what we have, & make dinner. Good stuff on here, but realize something, at 17, 18, 19, and up to about 22-23 years of age, you have a hormonal profile going that bodybuilders fucking PAY for. If you get in the gym, aren't a fucking pussy, and pick up heavy shit on a regular basis (read - squat, deadlift, & bench), you can lose weight just cuz you're literally primed to do so. I'm about to drop knowledge from the old guard...observe. Women's truth happens in the moment, while men's truth tends to be more consistent/long lasting. In the middle of an argument, I woman will say "I hate you." She will completely mean it, and it will be true for her in that moment. This....with kids showing up, it's easy to hand over control of one thing, then another, and before you know it, you're not seen as the leader anymore. Some of this is necessary (she's got the boobs for breastfeeding, after all), but after some time, in order to stay happily married, you've kind of gotta treat your wife like a girlfriend again, and not the mom with all the power. :)

I may be a bit more cautious than other guys here, but if she turns, kinda backs into you a little, and looks/glances over her shoulder at you while she does it, that's a solid invitation. If she turns her back and does NOT glance/look back at you, she's boxing you out...prolly move on. Edit - wording

This guy is solid... Matt Stefanina - Dancing at the Club 1 Dancing at the Club 2 This one from Tweet Boogie is solid as well, even though it's about approaching the ladies. Specifically, what she says at about the 2:30 mark. If she knows she's going to look good dancing with you, she'l stick with you. At the very least she doesn't want to look worse ;) The trick that I've found with ladies on the dance floor, is that you gotta kinda feel them out and see how they dance, then find a way to compl…

We've had a great couple of years of vacations like this, the first one was me wanting to take the kids for 3 weeks in the summer to my parents place on a lake, she didn't want to go. I was all, "that's fine, we're still going." It was the best triple 2 reasons, 1 - I didn't have her looking over my shoulder every second, and got to spend lots of Dad time with the kids & 2- she got 3 weeks by herself... She actually got to switch of mom mode & get her own shit straightened out, no kids, no distr…

Been married for 10 years, but just getting a hold of this RP stuff, here's my $02. No attention is fine, for "punishment," if you will. (I feel weird calling it that, but it's pretty accurate). But if you're constantly punishing her, then like anyone, she's going to give up. I did the same thing for a while with my wife, then I saw a lot of the comments here and read Athol Kay's stuff, and I realized that I wasn't doing much to "prime her pump" throughout the day. I started incorporating in my …

solid stuff here /u/bogeyd6, and those posts by /u/strategos_autokrator have some really really solid stuff as well. The one about leading a wife that doesn't let you hit home for me. I have this weird pint system in my head, where sometimes, I'll actually postpone a job around the house I want to do, and wait until she's around, just so she'll actually see what the fuck I'm doing. Not for recognition per se, but if she actively sees me doing shit, that hamster wheel sure the fuck slows down. It…

For me, it doesn't make her wet, per se, but it gets her relaxed. Relaxed is much easier to work toward tingles at the end of the day than the usual stressed-out-with-the-kids-all-day-mama. So yeah, the stuff of lasting relationships. :)

This is solid right here. Taking care of the kids can be a totally alpha thing to do, as in, I want to take my kids out to the movies, so I do it. But in her mind, can be seen as "good beta," as in, he was so great that he gave me two hours to myself whout the kids around. Dumb example, but I love going to the movies, and love bringing the kids now that they're old enough. I get to go out and have fun, I get to make the call about where and when, and she brags to all her friends that I'm such a …

Seriously. I remember being in the middle of a couples therapy session with the wife, when she admitted to being crazy, and was just so matter of fact about it. I was fucking stunned. Like, deer in the headlights, WTF? stunned. Now that I've learned that me controlling myself gives her fuel to control herself, it makes more sense, as well as makes it easier to not give into shit tests. I still fuck 'em up every so often, but it's night and day from a few years ago.

This...totally this...I've had conversations with women & even my wife, who have openly admitted that they're crazy & WANT us to call them on their shit & are very puzzled when we don't. As in, "can't you see I'm being crazy? Stop me before I crash this relationship!" They also acknowledged that even if they KNOW they're crazy in the moment, they're pretty much powerless to stop it. Hence the need for a man to help them keep their shit straight.

So much good stuff here, but here's what I've done in the past. Option 1 - answer her preemptively with a nonsensical answer. "...lets talk later." "the answer is 42." This does a couple things; it playfully lets her know that whatever it is, it isn't a big deal and your not stressed about it, and not giving it any thought. It also shows her that if she's being ridiculous, two can play, and you'll win. If it gets a laugh even better. Option 2 - give an answer that could mean something, but it wa…

You've kinda got 2 options 1 - dial the fuckin' food in 2 - run about 20 minutes, in the morning, fasted, 3 or more days a week. The first just gets it all sorted, the second will put you in enough of a deficit that if you're a little off on the diet side, it won't fuck with your results. However, the running is INSURANCE for the diet, not a permission slip to do whatever the fuck you want when you drive by a burger joint. The other way to do IF is to not eat for a 24 hours period. Just Googled the PHAT thing. assuming your lifting heavy shit as well (working out like you mean it, not just checking the box), shift your macros so you favor protein and fat. Be relatively low carb, depending on your weight, you want to be below 150-200 g of carbs a day. Mind you this is NOT a performance approach, you're not going to have a helluva lot of gas. For your average guy working out, you should be fine, but if your into endurance sports, or even serious body building, you'll feel gassed pretty quickly. That's o…

I'm gonna say that the income thing makes me feel hella alpha. My income tracks up and down from time to time & when there's money in the back, I find it MUCH easier to have that Alpha feeling, when it's tight, then I'm generally more uptight, and little things that usually wouldn't affect my frame end up bothering me way more than they should. So I'd say that a certain amount of money makes it easier for you to maintain frame and not be bothered by shit, since that stressor isn't a huge impact …

A couple weeks later, she's doing it..without having to be coerced or asked. Sometimes, I just don't have the patience for the change that I want to see. You know? I feel like it's taking too long. On a side note, since you're hardco…

I have a totally dumb, beginner, noob follow-up question. Are there times when you deny sex? Generally, if she's down, so am I. It's been very, very rare that I've denied sex. Is this a tool in the arsenal? I thought I remember from Atoll's book that generally, if she's good to go for sexy time, then jump in, since that's kind of the point. Are sex & "training" tied together in that way, or are they kinda separate?

Um...not sure about this one... It was a comment on how, in pretty much any relationship I've ever heard of, it's really, really hard to take advice from the other person. Generally speaking (maybe not in red pill land), husbands & wives find it really difficult to take advice from each other. Being stuck in that loop means that I'm trying to get the fuck out of it, and it's a work in progress, some days are better than other. So...umm....maybe I'm still new to this or the terminology, but not r…

That's the tricky part...if her choice leads to her being not the best her that she could be... Ah well, if we could only control other people's behavior...time to man up the A game, and see what I can stir up on my own. :)

Awesome sauce dude! This has been the trick for a LONG time for me. We're a little stuck in the "don't tell me what to do" loop that a lot of couples get into, where you can't take advice from your spouse. It took a LOONG time for her to realize that I'm a pretty damn good coach, and that I was treating her the same if not a little better than the rest of my clients (as opposed to singling her out and/or "picking on her") She's getting back into it, but it ain't an "us" thing yet. We've JUST got…

That speech is the SHIT. He finishes, and their all just, "I think you just got your funding." That guy had a quiet power that few could deny, talk about alpha on a whole nother level...seriously....bad...ass

Heh...for not being very descriptive, you hit is pretty much right on. It's exactly that future part that I'm concerned with. If she was in the gym pushing it hard a few, or even a couple days a week, I probably wouldn't think much about how she looks, and perhaps I'm using how she looks as a sideways we of being a little worried about her work ethic in this arena. As of this point, I don't see her ...putting enough stress on her body to keep her bones dense, her joints and muscle flexible, and …

It's a little weird, it seems like the more I ignore her the nicer she is, so maybe along those lines. This whole alpha thing, for me, should really be called the "A-Game." In that, it's really easy for me to fall back into beta territory and not be on point. Bringing my A Game to every moment takes more effort than I anticipate, and while the habit is growing it's still constant effort. I just want her to be happier in general. With her body, with the house, with everything in general. The A-Ga…

The CrossFit thing was just a nod that my fitness game is on point. Also, that access to fitness is very, very available. Part of it for me is that the days that she DOES workout, she's happier, nicer, and hornier. Yet she doesn't nec make time for it (fitness/dance class, whatevs). I guess we have different priorities on it. Honestly, I kind of go back and forth on it. Some days I'm really good and grateful that I have a cute, sexy wife who doesn't have to really work that hard for it, then oth…

but it only works if she gives a shit about what you want I think that's part of it. She likes her body a "certain way" and that's kind of it. Do I address this with mild dread? Thanks for the short list, btw :)

The thing is, a lot of them don't even consciously know they're doing it. They're constantly shit testing, but it's just what they do, like we turn our heads when a 10/10 walks by. It's just in our/their blood. It's fuckin crazy.

No prob dude...its literally what I do for a living, if you want more pointers, or even want to send a vid, so I can help check form happy to do so... Edit - it helps to have the box juuust at the point that the form breaks down, that way you're pushing yourself, but not so much as to enforce bad habits by taking on too much. At 23, you've got time, learn to do it right, and you'll never have to stop because of injury ;)

Law of Inertia...Newton's First Law. Though he was referring to the motion (or lack thereof) of physical bodies, it totally applies to fitness, or anything else. :)

echoing /u/BrunoOh Just get in there and do something. Honestly, while there are better programs, and worse ones, ANYTHING is better than not going. Just get your ass in there, then you'll have more motivation to do the research, and you'll have some context. You don't need a site to tell you to squat, bench, & curl until you start to get shaky. Just get in there, and make it a habit, you're going to constantly be tweaking things anyway :)

Start with touching her if she says something funny. I've found that touching the arm, right as I start laughing provides a "sharing" of the laugh without being creepy....just $.02. ;)

How old are you? If you're young (less than 30), you will be pleasantly surprised at the power of naturally surging testosterone...those weights will go up. As far as bar on your back squats being difficult, I'll echo /u/ManliestDwarf , check your form. you should back squat in this order after getting the weight out of the rack, and taking a proper stance.... 1 - hips slightly back to make you lean forward a little, and put the weight toward the heel 2 - push/drive your knees OUT as your hips d…

Please forgive /u/rpswinger, but I am very interested in this part.. It took me about 6 months into our relationship to get her to be comfortable with the idea. She went from a very innocent girl who was just one year out of a 15 year relationship (her hubby had an affair and dumped her via text message)... to banging me on the third date... to doing whatever I wanted in bed.. dirty talk.. talk about fantasies... her at first saying she didn't like my fantasy of a threesome... me not caring one …

Pressfield's companion book to The War of Art is "Do the Work." A great compact book to have in the shitter for quick reminders, I've given a copy to at least a dozen people. Great list, btw ;) PS. You could add: Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe Becoming a Supple Leopard by Kelly Starett anything by [Dan John](www.danjohn.net) The Body Building Encyclopedia by Arnold Swartzeneggar (this one is just for old school awesomeness) Those are just off the top of my head, but a good fitness section on…

Yoga can be both abstract, or very literal, depending on the class & teacher. In a "good" yoga practice, it's almost like you're using the discomfort of the poses (positions? postures?) to help you focus. You're so focused on trying to get things to open & release, that you're not thinking about the rest of the horse shit that's an average day. It takes you out of your life, but into your body. There are some classes that can get a little too flowery/chakra-ee for me, but I've always left feelin…

Your username makes me want to up my alpha immediately... Also, I've realized recently that often "putting her in her place" means doing absolutely NOTHING and going about my day as if I don't care, because that's what an alpha mother-fucker would do.

I admit that I'm probably guilty of overtalking instead of just being my alpha-self, and letting her figure it out. I can see that by NOT voicing stuff it adds mystery, drama (from her perspective), and shows confidence. I'm naturally totally beta, so this journey has been very conscious, constent work, it totally doesn't come natural. Her attitude seems to really be affected by her cycle as well...honestly, sometimes I feel sorry for them. ;)

I've started doing this in small ways, playfully saying things to the effect of, "If you don't want to go on date night, that's cool, I can find someone else." I'll try the silent treatment first, and see if I need to up that dread a little more in the process.

Silence can be the best communication ever. I do find that the more I'm silent and "distant" the nicer she is to me. Funny how that works. :) It's not even a LOT about her body, I mean she's honestly in the 8.5 -9 category, especially for the 40+ crowd. It's as much about the fact that she's a nicer frikkin' person, less stressed, and feels sexier when she works out. But she (for SOME reason) doesn't see making that time everyday (even 10 minutes) a priority. I'm kind of talking around the point…

I'm literally the fittest 40 year old I know. Just did 100 burpees yesterday in 4:47. Also did thrusters yesterday & worked up to 195lbs for a double. I wondering how much more example I can get?!?!!!!!! Maybe I should refresh the "Dread game" .. it's mentioned more than once here.

This is pretty good, though maybe a little tricky, since all the people that train are coached by me, and it could be read by her (the wife) as a client/coach breach of professionalism. Though I can also see that I could admire the work & body change of the ladies that I work with, "So and so is REALLY looking great these days, she's working hard and getting hotter!" .. stuff like that could work...hmmm... /u/whodat6922 - It's funny, through pics on Instagram, I like a bit of fitness junk in the…
