Limited info, not sure whats going on with your aunt though you gave more info in comments. Was super confused by comments saying he would not be seen with you, I may have missed that somewhere. From what I gather he decided to wait until after your ceremony to give you gifts, which isnt super unusual in my experience. The only time Ive been given a gift during any kind of awards or special events ceremony is if its part of the ceremony itself. Barring that, usually theres lunch or dinner afterw…

Yup, all that is social signaling. I hesitate to get behind acting classes, cause the point isnt to act out and pretend youre something youre not, its to assert yourself and be able to project and make it clear who you already are. Cause it really doesnt sound like youre in a situation where you need to fake it til you make it, you've already got it. I did a quick search in my city for body language and assertiveness in corporate situations, and found quite a few coaches that teach these types o…

Its an interesting topic, something I think about every so often when my daughter and I complain about stuff like this, but for very different reasons. Im not shy at all, not afraid to speak up so on so forth but I give off some sort of vibe where, I can be very serious, speaking on something important, yet struggle with people taking me seriously or not realizing the importance of what Im saying. My daughter on the other hand, is incredibly quiet, but she could say anything at all and people ar…

I can make this even easier and more generalized..the moment a guy starts talking trash about his ex, for any reason, dip. Either: 1) Hes not over her / over whatever situation he had / has with her and looking for free therapy. 2) Hes trying to get you on his side, feel sympathetic to him. He NEEDS that cause everyone else in his life knows whats really going on and that he doesnt deserve any sympathy. Cause on the real, if a guy is on the up and up, he wont have any need or desire to put down …

No. You dont find him attractive, you didnt feel good around him, thats enough to say no. He moved pretty quick with the pda, like holding hands is something you do with someone youre comfortable with and want to feel more closeness to, not something you do walking into your first date. Hes already getting started with the love bombing, cause theres no way he feels so deeply for you the moment you meet, and the more you meet the more hes going to push towards how strong your physical / emotional…

It very cute, for sure. And also, lets not lose track of it that learning and performing basic life skills is not an indication of being HV. Its bare minimum survival skills. All the same, I can appreciate this is one snapshot into someones life, and take it as him being a good example and not the defining factor this man is HV.

Stating the obvious: he talks about it. Asks you to "try something new" and the whole set up is obv a scence from a porn movie ie "Okay so, I was thinking if you lay on the couch, flip your legs over your head onto the floor with your ankles crossed behind your head....oh wait, we might need a second guy for this one, can I call a friend right quick?" Im exaggerating lol (but only a little) you get the jist though. Asks what your fav type of porn is, tries to act like theres no way you dont watc…

I have a few friends that have given themselves title of auntie to my daughter. Just find a kid you like and boom lol For real though, friends like that are the best...and for my daughter, a really great experience to grow up understanding the concept of "the family we choose" and be able to see other strong women as a positive influence in her life.

Im in my 40's, have never had a desire to own a house and being in a relationship is a..if it happens fine but it better not mess with my plans so he needs to be able to fit within my life goals sort of thing. Some of mine if it helps get your gears going, I have a bucket list of places I'd like to travel to, some fun skills/hobbies Id like to learn, like scuba diving and golfing, my ultimate is to buy an RV, gut and completely remodel it by myself then hit the road for several months at a time.…

Yeah, thats his ego, being ashamed to let on he doesnt know everything *gasp the horror!* And hands down, would be the type of guy who if you know something he doesnt, would die on the hill you must be wrong cause hes never heard of it. Or downplay your intelligence and try to pick away at you to the point youre constantly second guessing yourself. Those types are insufferable.

Please do, cause this wont help the next woman who crosses his path, now that youve taught him to cover his tracks. Once had a guy who turns out had just gotten out of prison 3 months prior due to financial crime, scamming people out of money. he says the only way he will leave is if she calls the police Then call the po po. Okay...I'll admit, that was my first reaction, so I'll leave it, but then I read more rational ladies here who suggested the eviction process, which makes a lot more sense. Yeah, if you're going to bring up / entertain a conversation around sex on the third date, youre sending out a signal of what youre interested in. Men are already sex driven, thats not exactly a mystery worth trying to figure out early on. Meanwhile, guys are trying to figure out where your head is at, because with women its not a given if shes dtf, and if early on youre like..SEX! then yeah, hes going to take that and run with it feeling confident which side youre on. Exactly to all of this. I know Im not knowledgeable, and often joke, I dont know whats good...but I know what I like! Ive dated a sommelier and a wine dealer, very small case study lol but both told me...theres literally no difference in quality between a $500 bottle of wine and a $12 bottle of wine. The key difference is rarity, be it of the grapes, how good or bad the season was, the prestige of the vineyard, etc. But at the core of it, the only thing that matters is do you like it or not. And…

That story is so heartbreaking, I came across it awhile ago and just seeing it come up as a story in my true crime listening, I get sad/angry just being reminded of it. And its a good reminder too, no matter who you think is your friend, even family, dont go around telling people your personal business especially if it involves money! Yeah, when a relationship has developed to the point where he knows, a HVM will know how to use his words to discuss establishing what he wants, and same for HVW, so that both are on track and know what the other is thinking and where things stand. Once its established that both are committed to focusing on each other, then of course they are expected to behave accordingly. I just take issue with it that all this is supposed to occur within the first few dates. If a guy moved that fast Id think …

I actually woudlnt consider a guy HV if he decided after one or two dates that Im "The One." Id think a HV man would be just as vigilant about vetting his prospective partner, and want to take the time to actually get to know someone before coming to that conclusion. And I would absolutely dip out if a guy after 1 or 2 dates decided he was ready to fully commit to me, a complete stranger, and expected me to jump to it and pick him too based on...what exactly? 100% The time you stay in something thats not right for you, is time you are stealing from yourself to do better. Whether its no longer being available to yourself for self growth, no longer being available for when someone who could be right for you comes into your life, whatever. You've only known him for a month, so you still barely know him. Dating is the time of seeing whether or not you share the same goals and are compatible, you dont share the same goals and not compatible. Doesnt matter that he follows it up with "its not set in stone" Several years from now he can and will remind you that he told you he told you what he wanted as soon as you met, and you made the choice to move forward with the relationship anyway.

Yeah, Im not saying a guy shouldnt need to put in any effort before being told to. Im saying if something comes up I will speak up about it and from there decide if hes someone I want to see again or not based on our interaction. Just wanted to add...dont think Im coming from a right or wrong perspective. In the grand scheme of things, being no tolerance is way better than just letting whatever happen, happen. Im pretty low tolerance, just that Im not no tolerance. So no, I dont consider a guy LVM and dump him if he doesnt do everything exactly the way I want before knowing what I want, but I do expect him to respect my boundaries and understand I have standards hes going to have to put effort into moving forward.

Perhaps, but I have no issue sending the message I do expect to be treated a certain way by making my expectations clear. I have standards, and boundaries. Im not even sure how to hide this in the hopes he will figure it out for himself what my standards and boundaries are. Maybe to some thats doing the work for him, but I really dont have time for games. If its just performative action, he's not going to be able to keep it up forever. And in fact, a huge amount of people use performative action…

Ill be the odd one out... I believe I let a guy know how to treat me and enforce my boundaries by how I react and pay attention to how they respond to that. If a guy invites me to his place for a drink, I say no. If he drops it, great, if he keeps trying to convince me, nope. If a guy offers coffee / walk date / whatever I say no, if he comes up with an actual date great, if not, thats the end of that. This might come off as cold but... I have my hands full managing my own life. I cant be managing my friends lives and telling them what to do based on what I think is good for them. I'll be transparent about what I think, but ultimately how they live is their choice to make, and sometimes life lessons actually need to be experienced to learn from them. My gears are turning, wondering how that first date went. She said she always offers to pay for what she ordered, so I do wonder if she offered / insisted on paying for her own coffee or just splitting the coffee tab on the first date, and his mind went...we've got a live one boys! and was so confident to speak up for her on this date, assuming she would be a-okay with it. Fair enough if you feel that due to the circumstances women become single mothers, its flippant to say a single father can be HV. I still personally dont believe that being a single parent is in itself an indicator of being HV or LV. Regardless of the circumstances a person becomes a single parent, what type of parent they are is what I consider the main indicator.

Of course...single moms can be HVW afterall. And quite frankly, people can end up as single parents for reasons out of their control. The mother may have passed away, or is an unfit parent so he has full custody, or any other number of reasons. That he is taking on full responsibility to raise his kids is not a LVM trait... This is where I think it actually comes down to something far more simple. Take someone for who they are now, not for what their potential. Dating is the process of finding out if you share the same values, goals and lifestyle...if those things dont match, then you are not right for each other.

Whelp, now you know one. And unfortunately, I know many others. The military is a strongly male dominated field...having a desk job doesnt really mean you are around other women or face any kind of protection from the guys around you than women in other roles. As a matter of fact, you come off as weaker and more vulnerable...a woman who is for example a tank mechanic just comes off as more hardcore than the one working in a supply office. The difference is being aware of what are the negative behaviors to be able to actively avoid them, and not realizing you are in a pattern and continuing in that pattern hoping this time will be different. Dont compare yourself to your friends. Unlike them, you are actively educating yourself and putting yourself in a position to learn and grow from your experiences.

Firstly, I am very sorry to hear this happened too you. He did not just push your boundaries, he assaulted you. He is not concerned about SA against women, he himself is a rapist. I'm glad to hear you're in therapy, I myself am in therapy working through all the stuff that comes with having been assaulted, and then ending up in situations that had me feeling like "why do things like this keep happening." On a completely logical, rational level I know the correct response after telling a guy no i…

The point of multi-dating is not to date as many guys as possible, it's to not lock yourself down to the first guy that comes along . You're single until you're not, so it makes no sense to take yourself off the market and devote all your focus on a guy when you have no idea who the guy is or if you're actually interested in him. How many guys are pursuing you or how many you're interested in has nothing to do with it. Multi-dating is the mindset that you are open to continue dating until you ar…

Im having a hard time with this question, even on a philosophical level, because to me its not a super productive question. Okay...lemme explain =) On a personal, internal level, we can recognize things about ourselves and set goals that are wholly within our control and a personal responsibility to reach. Our personal journey is a priority and absolutely something to think about and focus on. However, when it comes to the external level, be it family friends or a man, we have no control, its no…

This is the point where you make it clear you have standards...if hes willing to keep it up, good, if hes not, also good now you know you're not compatible and its time to move on. Its super common for a guy to do all the nice things in the beginning, then decide he doesnt need to "impress" you anymore. Some of it may be game playing "Im going to take her on crappy dates to see if shes just a gold digger" or it can be what hes used to....other women he dated settled for less after awhile so hes …

You've got this. And dont let what family and friends think sway you either...they arent the ones considering spending the rest of their life with this guy. This is your choice to make. Another thing, super wise words a friend said to me...being friends with someone is a lot different than being in an intimate relationship with them. I was seeing a guy who we had a lot of mutual friends, theyd all known him way longer than I had, and were positively *screaming* with excitement when we started da…

Yeah no...the crux of her argument hinges on dating multiple people = hookup. NOT AT ALL! Just cause you go on a date with a guy or several guys, doesnt mean you are hooking up with all of them, on the contrary, shouldnt be hooking up with any of them. A date is literally just going out with someone to decide if you even want to see them again. I see no reason, and absolutely refuse to commit to a guy after a date based on this pOTEenTial and take myself off the market and act like Im not still …

Things that come to mind are..just cause a guy is HVM, doesnt mean hes the perfect for for everyone, and not necessarily the right guy for you. There's absolutely no reason to settle and resign yourself to be with someone because they look good on paper, rather than be with someone who compliments you and you feel good about making them a part of your life. You deserve that. Also, while it may feel good that this guy is so devoted to being with you even though you keep pushing him away......that…

Dont respond. And block him from your fb. You're not responsible for his finances. If he couldn't afford the date he shouldn't have overextended himself. You didn't ask for busted up flowers, that he even brought it up as if he's being generous for not including the cost is douchebaggery. This guy doesn't deserve any more of your time, effort and definitely not your money. Move on from this one and don't look back.

Okay so... I had been in a relationship where he moved me to his city, he didnt have friends locally and we pretty much just did everything together, we even worked together, plus my daughter was a toddler, so I was pretty busy with relationship/work/being a mom and didnt make any friends. It took me almost 20 years of going to therapy on and off before I finally found what works for me. Not saying it will take 20yrs, just saying, the two people you saw are not a representation of what all therapists are like. The norm is whatever makes you comfortable. If anyone is making you feel like you should want it more or less than you do, they are the ones being weird. If you, yourself not including what anyone else thinks, are concerned because what you want now is unusual for you personally, then thats something to explore. But how often other people prefer to have sex says literally nothing about you or whats normal for you.

The thing that shoots out at me are that all your reasons for wanting it are external..fears of how you'll be perceived by a man, fear of disappointing a man, fear of a partner leaving you, fear of your worth...in your partners eyes. Oh simple, what were supposed to do is know our place, to be as polite and kind as possible to every man, and understand we owe them our full trust and respect the moment we meet them. It hurt a lot more when I was younger, but nowadays after so much exposure to this behavior, its not a huge shocker anymore, and Im now able to next him and move on without giving him my mental energy. Still, every once in a blue moon someone slips through and it still hurts. Something e…

Had a guy tell me not to look at him like that during sex...did him a favor and never had sex with him again. That was the end of that. I can't say I've chosen to have sex with a guy who I think has a digsusting body, but for sure if someone is going to try and insult me and make fun of me just to try and embarrass me, I would not keep seeing him.

At least with text messages or any sort of thing where they wont know whether or not they have been blocked, I never block them. I may say Im blocking, I definitely will not respond, but I do not block. For a very specific reason. Almost 10 years ago, went one date with a guy, who was being super aggressive when I wanted to go home and he wanted me to go home with him. I have a generic email account, and would give that to guys to contact me cause my personal email would bring up my entire life …

Yeah, something I heard eons ago and tried to keep in mind while raising my daughter is your kids wont cherish and have memories of how perfectly clean the house was, they will cherish and have memories of the time you spent with them. There were times when I felt like I have to get this done and that done, but had to keep my priorities in order, time with my kid is far more important to me than making sure theres no dishes in the sink. And this quote is a great reminder that we, ourselves are m…

Only thing here I take issue with is calling a woman who chooses to be a stay at home mom a bangmaid. Taking care of the household and raising kids is a job, a tough one, a non-paid one at that. The whole thing of being disrespectful to women who are homemakers, and consider her as having no value because shes doing literally everything to manage the house and family except make money is how a lot of men emotionally abuse women. Back when I got married, I was a homemaker for about 6 months befor…

Yeah, I think the spirit of what she was saying was a bit lost with her wording. Its not that this specific man will stop, but that when shes coming from a place of strength, men will stop treating her this way. Men like him prey on weak and vulnerable women who they can break down and keep where he wants her. He will keep on his behavior with another woman when he loses his grip on this one. I just love it when real feminist tells me what I should want out of life, how I should behave and point out if the way I want to be treated is not what it means to be a real woman. Can't help but feel like this is reminds me of some huge moment in womens history...something about an end to putting women in their place..gosh, the name is on the tip of my tongue. Anyway, Its so freeing to not have to think for myself and let someone else do that for me. Especially men, male feminists are the best…

Thats why its bs, and Ive fallen for it myself, to stay with a guy who is a terrible partner, because you remember what it used to be like, and hope he'll go back to being that guy again. He was never that guy. That guy doesnt exist. Alll that matters is who he is now, not who he pretended to be way back when.

From my observations, Im seeing the total opposite... Like, generationally speaking, the expectations on people and what they want to do with their lives have changed dramatically. For example: My grandmothers generation it was just expected around 18 a woman would move out when she found a man to marry, start a family and be a housewife. In my moms generation same except the whole novel idea of women working, some would want to do that too. In my big sisters generation (boomer) going to college…

Yup same... My dog plays with his toys by destroying them, so that's all over the floor, and though the dishwasher gets loaded at night, plates and cups accumulate during the day, mail on the dining table, stuff like that. Why would I whine I trusted a guy, when I dont believe in 1000% trusting a guy in the first place? Im not talking about wearing your heart on your sleeve and throwing up everything there is to know about yourself on a first date, Im talking about over the course of a relationship be i…

The unfortunate truth is there is no way to be 1000% sure. People have been married 20-30-40+ years only to find out the guy has a second life, been cheating, not honest about how they make their money and end up in prison, you can think you know a person only to find out you dont know them at all. If mental health is used to ruin a relationship, then I would consider, if your friends/families/loved ones turn their back on you because some bf told you you have mental health struggles, then are t…

I get that, but then do you never share mental illness or any other thing that could possibly be used as a weapon just in case the relationship doesnt work out and be in fear of a breakup? Thats a kind of fear I do not want to live in, and the best way to combat that is to not allow someone to think they hold any kind of power over you because they know something about you. Theres a risk of being gaslit, manipulated, used, cheated on and whatever other plethora of things women face in relationsh…

...and do what with that information? Try to blackmail you? I'll tell people you have a health condition or else? Being scared to break up with someone because you're worried about who they really are and believe they might be manipulative is not a reason to stay and walk on eggshells. Its a reason to cut him out fast and for good and throw him in the trash. Never be afraid to break up with someone who isnt good for you.

Ive been sexualized while wearing oversized sweatpants, a hoodie, hadnt washed my hair in, god knows who long and was in a deep depression trying to make myself look as gross as possible after Id been assaulted. Speaking of, when I was assaulted, I was wearing jeans, a sweater, boots and a winter coat. If youre confused where you stand in the relationship, its on purpose. If a man is serious about you, he will make sure you know what value you hold in his life. "what are we? You dont treat me well enough to understand whether or not we're in a relationship, but can I call you my boyfriend?" What? All he did is agree to a title, it means nothing. if shes wants to be committed to a guy who shes confused about because hes not putting in the effort to be part of a secure relationship, then she'll …

That's... Weird. No, I don't see the takeaway from this as never do anything for a man. I see it as don't get involved with a man who thinks women have nothing to offer and feels his manhood is being threatened if a woman is capable of doing things he can't. I can't with the idea my role is to just sit there and look pretty while he does all the things, and keep my mouth shut even if I could help, just to avoid bruising his little ego. I put about as much weight on love languages as I do in astrological compatibly. It's fun to look into but hardly a guideline. That being said, I can see value in it. Love language isn't about how you treat someone else, but how you like to be treated. For example, if a guy says his love language isn't gift giving, that means he doesn't care about getting gifts, has nothing to do with giving them. Like with the words of affirmation, I hate being gushed over. It sets my warning bells off when a g…

I got you and do agree, it's not unreasonable to expect the average guy in his 20s to be able to lift 125lbs. No matter how strong a 30,40,50+yo guy is, generally speaking they won't be able to do everything they could while in the prime of their youth. Even if they take care of themselves and work out, knee and back pain is a MF! Believe me, in another 20yrs when you're looking at it from another perspective, not only will you not expect the average guy your age to be able to lift you, you'd be…

I was responding to your original post saying being able to lift a woman is the norm for a man. The norm is, theres a 40% obesity rate in America (wont assume what country your in, so can only talk about my perspective) of those who arent overweight, some percentage of those are lanky and underweight, and of those within normal weight ranges, not all of them hit the gym or can open a jar of pickles. Actually, it makes a ton of sense to me. Theres already the pressure to perform like a porn star, then the pressure that if you dont orgasm youre not doing something right. But the really big one for me is that a big part of it is mental. Talking to me like I'm some kid and asking me what Im majoring in (incidentally, both cities I've lived in recently are within a few blocks of a major University) I'm in my early 40s, and when I tell them I'm not in school and closer to their age, many have said something along the lines of ohh well that makes this less weird then. No, you're still a weird perv for hitting on me because you thought I was in my…

He then sends a close up and he's missing both his front teeth. I was like holy crap that happened at the gym this morning? What happened?! Cause I'm thinking damn, what bad luck right before a first date. Nope.. He was like, actually that happened around 6mths ago and that hed rather not say how it happened…

FDS isn't about finding a man, it's about maintaining your dignity and respect when dating and in a relationship, and that includes marriage. Getting married doesn't mean you have no use for FDS. On the contrary, that's when you need out the most. It's too easy to decide well, were married, so much has been invested, there's kids, a house, etc to put up with disrespect as time goes on. It's harder when there's so many good excuses to stay that one doesn't have when they're just dating and can ju…

My experience, had been seeing a guy for a few months, we got to talking about things we like and I'd said while I do like it tender, I also like when a guy is a little aggressive. Later that night, he launched full on into stuff that had me equally pissed off and terrified like wtf are you trying to do to me?! And he says, but you said this is what you like, I've seen videos about this. Sooooo... Because I'm black, when I said a little aggressive that means ghetto gag me. Obviously. Pretty sure…

I think that's the point. It's obvious this is a shit post, but he wants people to believe he passed the HVM bar and was on a date with someone from FDS. He's stroking his ego.

My experience exactly. Red flag if a guy says he's a feminist. I've yet to meet a guy who says he's one that isn't obnoxious and disrespectful, Right up there with guys who say they love independent women. Usually means, they love that they don't have to do anything or put any effort in. Equal to them means they won't do anything because you can do everything yourself. Basic courtesy goes out the window... Like the guy who let a door slam in my face and said he's a feminist and wouldn't offend m…

She did tell him. She said she didn't want anything. Had he stuck to that, it would've been far less offensive than buying her a vacuum cleaner. I get the feeling this isn't the first time he got her a crappy gift and she was over it. And then this was the final straw that still pisses her off. Also, personally, I think it really sucks the idea that a man who married and should know his wife is excused for having no clue what she likes and should be told what would make her happy. Meanwhile, I c…

That's not love. That's infatuation/control/ownership... I can say I love my sneakers...best kicks ever. I take good care of them.. For the most part, but theyre there for my benefit... Better they touch the mud puddle than my feet...whatever. No one else can have anything to do with my sneakers cause they're my property. It's manipulation. By being so adamant he's only looking for a friend, yeah there are women who will go oh he's being so honest and genuine, poor thing stuck with such a horrible woman. He's really just looking for a friend and he seems so nice. Now your guard is down because you've thrown, "he's not trying to sleep with me" off your radar. And that's the plan. True story... My mom had been seeing a guy for awhile. To put things into perspective, my father died in the 70s. They were only married 3yrs and she was devestated by it. In the late 90s, she invited a guy to our family Christmas dinner and specifically asked me and my sister to fly in from out of state to be there and meet him. To this day, that's the only time in my lifetime I've known my mom to have a man in her life. A few months after us all meeting him she was diagnosed with cancer. She w…

Marry for money =/= forced to rely on a man. You can make your own money and want a man to have money as well. Just because you have your own money in the bank doesn't mean you should expect less or nothing at all of the men you seek.

It's not you, it's a numbers game. These guys are trying it with everyone. The key is to not wait for them to show their true colors... I guarantee there were red flags that you rationalized away and made excuses for certain behaviors. Reflect on these guys and be really honest with yourself about what sort of things you let slide in the beginning and as things progressed. Little things that seem like nothing add up to the end goal/true colors. Keep those things in mind and be on alert...the sec…

I'm kind of a jerk, but I'd still pass on this guy. I read this as... Here's all the things that I think make you an incredible woman, let's do this lame ass excuse for a date... Oh you wanna negotiate? Okay we'll do that instead. I don't much like the way he compliments her for expecting the decent date he should've came up with in the first place either. I'd rather a guy who actually knows how to treat a woman and will do so, not treat me like I deserve less unless otherwise specified. If that…

Yeah, no problem as an activity, but that's not a date. It's treating you like one of the guys, except he also gets to bang one out with you. Even if that's something you like doing together, any decent guy will think you deserve more than to be just treated like a buddy and want to put effort into an actual date.

When someone is in the middle of a depressive episode so bad they cannot function to the point they aren't able to tend to personal hygiene, they aren't dating. They're not leaving their home. Theyre not even getting out of bed. Finding love should not be the priority... Taking care of their health and getting treatment so they can function again is the only thing a person in that state should be focused on. Regardless, that's not who this thread is about.

So these guys don't know how to make women orgasm and disagree with the view a guy should learn how... The point of sex is to give and receive pleasure. Only way this would be considered a successful move is if after her vacation and he said he no longer wants the divorce, she said well that sucks for you, cause I'm done here. Number 4 in pick me is, drives me nuts. I don't get it. Dating several guys is a good thing, but keeping deadweight in rotation is counter productive. I don't care how great a guy is in bed, there's nothing HV about being dick whipped and making room in your life for someone who isn't worth your time. A lot of these points are about settling. It's actually no different. At every stage of dating, relationship, marriage you should know your worth, be treated with respect, and be prepared to walk if he doesn't appreciate and treat you well. When you barely know a guy and things are new, it's far easier to let him go because there's no emotional attachment. The longer you're with someone, the more prone one is to rationalize how much has been invested in the relationship, and esp with marriage, the hassle of leaving. But that's when it's…

There is truth to this. At least with guys 6'3 and up. They're so used to being glorified for their height that they are used to not having to put in any effort, and know that he just has to stand there to get any woman's attention. I'm quite tall myself, so I tend to get the interest of very tall men who aren't used to dating someone my height. But after my experiences, I'm pretty cautious.

The bad news is it seems younger guys actually think that's a compliment. The good news is as you and the guys you see get older, theyve realized how obnoxious that is and you'll eventually stop h…

If he's apologizing, I take it you're asking him about why he's not in contact more? I'd stop doing that. It's only been a few weeks, you're busy taking care of your mom and hopefully you haven't stopped dating and spending time with friends so that he's not your only source of socializing. Just step away and see what he does on his own. If he misses you he'll contact you, if he doesn't he won't. The best way to get a guy thinking about you is to have him wonder what you're up to. Right now, he …

What is a filler date and what is the benefit to going on them? I've given guys a chance as in gone on a second date even if I wasn't feeling the first... I have a tendency to be super picky and realized I was always noping out after first dates over minor stuff. Now unless a guy does something offensive or we're clearly incompatible, I'll give it another chance. But as soon as I see a red flag I'm done. I don't think that's what this is saying though?

I swear they keep moving the age up to antagonize me!!! First it was only available to children and teens so I was too old, then they moved it up to 20-something so I was too old, now it's up to 40 and I'm too old. FML!! Lol Actually I'm still pretty close to 40, had no idea they raised it so I'll bring it up with my Dr to see if this is something I can get even if I'm a few years off. Thanks for the info!!!

I think maybe you meant this as a reply to someone else? But hey, I'll give it a go! :) It's true, a guy will get comfortable once they see you're not going to leave them. Which is why you never let them think that. Read in a book a million years ago so I don't remember the title, but the essence was even now that she's married, her husband knows he doesn't have her on lockdown no questions asked. If he starts to treat her in a way she doesn't deserve, she will leave. At no point will she let hi…

Yeah absolutely! Dating is for getting to know someone, right now you just have an idea of what you think he is, but he is still a stranger to you. The pitfall to someone who is insecure is when someone shows them attention they're not going to push that away. It's already bad enough when a guy is unattractive and someone finally looks at them, but if a guy is attractive, the greater the odds more women will pursue him. Not saying he's the type to do anything, but he did invite you to his place …

It wasn't really about the $100 amount, but that my expenses compared to the expense of owning a car is so much less than owning a car. Between car payment, insurance, fuel, maintenance, tolls and parking, it is reasonable to Uber or even rent a car sometimes instead of put it all on someone else's shoulders to drive everytime. I budget $100 since it's what I spend in an average month, not cause it's all I can afford... I throw the rest into savings is all. Anyone who is going carless because th…

I'm straight up about it that I'm dating until I reach the point with someone where we decide to be exclusive and focus only on each other. No way do I want to give a guy the impression I'm committing myself to see only him by lying about seeing other people... It takes a lot more than a couple dates to put me on lockdown. I need to actually get to know someone first. What I do with my time is my business... He doesn't get to know what I'm doing, with who or where so there's nothing to lie about…

Not to be one track minded, but a girls gotta eat :) Yeah absolutely avoid going to a guys place or a secluded hike for a first date. You got lucky with a guy who seems to be okay, but for personal safety, very pubic spaces with lots of people around is the way to go for the first few dates. To expound on what others said, where you are now doesn't matter as long as you have goals and ambition. Guys love the idea of being able to help you reach those goals too. That'll make the difference between being the one he'd date and have fun with, and the last he'd be in a relationship with. Having been on one side and now the other... Alright so I'm going to say... When I had a car, I expected a guy to at least have that too. I moved to a city with great transportation and chose my home in an area where theres grocery store, shopping, and restaurants in walking distance specifically to go car free. I was going to say... There's no way that guy is only a few years older than me. Men in their 40s do not look like this...... Very gross that he's targeting women in their 20s. Me too... Well, I thought I liked older men, then as I got older I realized Im just attracted to guys in a certain age group. Now that I'm in my 40s the guys I date are around my age. If I'm still single in my 50s or beyond, pretty sure I'll still be scoping out guys in their 40s. I just prefer someone who is established in their career and has experienced life.

That's because they are... Guys have a really warped perception of themselves, will think they look way younger and lower their age in their profile to attract women "on their level" Meanwhile, I'm looking at a guy who says he's 45, talking about how he's youthful, hits the gym everyday and looking for someone who can keep up, but he has a beer belly looks like he's pushing 60. Seriously thinking a woman 15+ years younger than them won't notice.

That's the purpose behind dating... not the first date in particular. There's not even a way to find out every single thing about a person within the first few dates to weed out all incompatiblies and be sure this guy is the one. He's offering you the standard rate escorts charge, yet says nothing compares to you? If that were the case, he's think your were far more valuable, not the same price. Whoops okay... Well, big question then, why are you hesitant? Something is throwing off signals that are keeping you from wanting to be with him. I'm also still wary about the breakup not being amicable. How things ended can have a big impact on whether or not to give things another go. It also stands out that you two rarely argued, conflict resolution (or avoiding conflict and being agreeable) and being able to communicate seems to be an issue, even now.

Let's stay friends is a way of gently letting you down. It's one thing if you speak in abstract terms that you're looking for a serious relationship, then ask him what he's looking for. But if the guy is saying let's stay friends, sounds like a response to you saying you want a serious relationship with him. Just put it out there what you want, not directed at him. I took that stuff to heart and felt like I hit gold to have found and married a guy who loved both of us. After our divorce I was so anxious and freaked out... Turns out, while there are guys like the one my "friend" mentioned, the grand majority of guys dont think that way at all. What did freak guys out was my ability to take care of everything. Being a mom …

Yeah, I mostly wear black when "I cant even" lol but colors and matching to clothes really make a difference, not even just talking in the bedroom, just in general even if no one else sees it, it feels really nice. I gravitate towards certain colors anyway, so I mostly have jewel tones (like burgundy, dark blue, dark purple). If Im wearing all black, then I'll wear something totally different like red underwear, which indeed does pop and makes a noticeable difference when the clothes come off :)…

...and guys wonder why we're so cautious. Cause I dont know you and Im trying not to die. A long, long time ago I read about a guy who would meet women online, get them back to his place, tie them up in the basement and made recordings of them begging for their lives, making them apologize to their kids before killing her. That chilled me to the bone. I googled online date killed mother and the results were depressing. Did not find the specific story Im thinking of, but there are hundreds more l…

I can tell you, while I do love my lingerie, when I could not afford it, I at a minimum made sure my bras and panties matched. I still have no idea if thats just not a thing women do but over the past 20 years, guys have been completely impressed and remarked on how unusual and sexy that is. So yeah, Id get myself pretty lace bras from Ross, get a pack of cheap lace panties on Amazon to match the color, and I make sure that my underwear matches my clothes too. Always. This is so true....when a guy goes out of his way to prove hes such a great guy, he usually isnt. Dated a guy like this, he turned out to be such a selfish jerk. We had a lot of mutual friends in common many who knew him way longer than I did and when talking with a close friend about what this guy did to me to cause our breakup he said if it wasnt coming from me he wouldnt believe any of it because that dude is "such a nice guy and I cant imagine him saying anything like that!" Yeah, not a good litmus test. There are many, many guys who would love that and enjoy being humiliated, teased, roughed up etc, its their kink and fetish. Its not about whether a guy would let you do those things to him, its about whether you want those things done to you and if not, then its off the table. If you enjoy getting oral or whatever and hes not about that life then you wont get your needs met. When youre not sexually compatible then its time to move on. Full stop.

Dont be so sure... if a guy has the means to, he absolutely will. I was with a guy who turned out to be no good. He had no issues dropping $xxx on dinners, going on trips, paying rent, put downpayment on cars etc. He had a play money budget and knew exactly how women perceived him doing all these things and will give themselves up to him..when in fact that money to him was chump change. He thought it was pretty fun/funny how women would go gaga (his words) over over "the smallest things" that we…

Just know, there are guys who will keep sleeping around with other women...hes not necessarily waiting on sex, just waiting on when that woman will have sex with him. Its not a huge secret that women will hold off on sex, so to that type of guy it kind of becomes a game and challenge of what he'll need to do to get a woman into bed. Ive seen it plenty of times where a guy seemed great, wined and dined, she making him wait, him figuring thats what she was doing and just pulling out all the stops …

I stopped reading after the dumped him three times bit. So she knew the first three times she dumped him that he was no good. Sorry but by continuing to take him back, she's letting him know he can do whatever and she'll still let him stay around. She knew what he was about and decided to keep him in her life anyway. At this point, it's her own fault they're having this conversation.

Yeah the whole, I'm going to give him a piece of my mind thing never works. Any response validates to him that you care enough to waste your time responding. And it is in fact a waste of time to respond. You'll either sound hurt, angry because you're hurting, trying to hurt him because you're hurting... No matter what, any emotion at all is an emotion towards him that he will spin in his mind as you being hurt and he'll be thinking yeah she still wants me. Silence on the other hand will have him…

Guys who are not an equal match in looks are the worst. That's actually not a thing for me, I mean I have my preferences, a certain type that catches my eye from across the room, but when I'm getting to know someone, I've fallen for guys that weren't at all good looking. Problem with the idea that dating ugly guys thinking they'll feel lucky to be with you is that... Interestingly, I've had the opposite reaction! Guys my height and taller tend to be so self conscious about being with someone their height. They're so used to being the taller one that "it just feels weird." It's like, when I see a profile that says, I'm 6' so ladies you can wear your heels! They don't mean me, they expect and want a woman who is still shorter, at most their same height in heels. Came across a lot of short guys who are like, whatever, everyone is taller than me. Nah it's just not my vibe to be completely dependent on a man. I've already lived the life where he bought the house I wanted, in cash. We didn't even have a kitchen for me to clean or cook in for two years, it wasn't a priority over the rest of the changes we wanted to make since we dined out every night, didn't need to clean or do laundry either since we had a maid 2x a week, plus the pool guy and the landscaper to redesign and decorate the lawn and garden. I don't consider it science. It's just a belief that the world is bigger than they are and just striving to do their part to to be a good person, just like it's a belief that some have that the world revolves around them and they only care about themselves. I absolutely agree that karma can be viewed as a higher power. As for miracles, at least in Christianity, there's a lot of focus on miracles in the Bible. Personally, if a guy doesn't want to take the step to make me his wife, I take that as he's not sure of me. It takes a huge level of trust to vow in front of family and friends (and god if one is of faith) to devote your life to that person the rest of your life. To be legally bound as one, to trust sharing your home and finances, to know they will be the one in charge if faced with the decision to pull the plug, to be the one planning your funeral if you die first. A spouse has more rights than…

She didn't say anything unkind. Lying that you love a guy because you're afraid you might damage him is self sabatoge. Not feeling everything at the same pace he is isn't rejection. A month into a relationship a guy told me he loved me. I thanked him for letting me know and said I wasn't sure how I felt yet. I don't like what feminism has evolved into. The whole point was to recognize that women are as capable and can do whatever it is they choose instead of being expected to stay within the confines of a gender role. Whether a woman wants to be a stay at home mom, or get her PhD and practice medicine, that's fine. Whether she likes it when a man opens the car door or prefers to do it herself that's fine. Whether a woman feels safer when her man is home or is a black belt with gun permit and fears n…

Be the type of woman he wants to pay for dates, ask out and chase. I mean, I'm seriously oversimplifying it, but the moment it starts to be an issue of keeping score, then someone is making the other person feel like they are the only person putting in any effort. For most guys, just knowing you appreciate them, enjoy being with and around them and they leave looking forward to the next time they see you is enough. Then as I matured, realized I was just being agreeable, putting my needs last (if it was even on the list at all) and going whatever just to be accepted. Also, I noticed no matter how much guys complained about how difficult and high maintenance and bitchy women were, those were the women they were attracted to and kept dating and would be so torn up about when the relationship was over. You're assuming that DIY and mechanical work is a man's job. Any time I've had a flat tire I've fixed it myself. It's faster than sitting at the side of the road waiting for AAA. My sister did the remodel of her kitchen, and whenever anything breaks it's she, not her husband who fixes it. So if someone is in a threatening situation with a guy and needs to find a way to independently find a way to leave, the key thing you want to put out there is Uber drivers are not background checked? Yeah it happens more than imaginable. I've read a couple AITA posts of either leaving someone by the side of the road or being left after and argument. One girl, her bf did it to her during a roadtrip in another country. It sucks to think someone you really know and trust would do something like that. Thankfully in this day as age Uber is a thing. But it's not everywhere, and there are times you will just have to trust. But you can't ever put your guard down with a relative stranger.

Not saying he's right, but pro tip, don't ever go to a man's house to be alone with him unless you are considering something intimate with him. I replied to her but there is definitely something going on with her. This kind of intensity so early in the relationship it's a huge red flag... Whether a woman does it or a man does it. This isn't being kind and generous, it's bombing you with any and everything you want or need in the hopes it'll buy your affection and attention so you'll stay with them. Exactly. Generally speaking, open-minded is a good thing. But in dating apps it's usually a sexual code word. I anyway avoid guys who mention sex in their bio, and this is included. I fell for it too many times at first, with the guys assuming we'd just meet for drinks then go back to thier place, or talking about threesomes and other sexual adventures... On a first date! Then saying I'm not open minded when I wasn't down for all that.

The point is to encourage women not to be taken advantage of by men. I've yet to see anyone talk about being with guys just to use them. It's always about finding someone to be in a relationship with that will treat you with respect. If a guy feels threatened by that and doesn't want women to feel like she should be with a man who treats her well, he's likely the guy everyone here is trying to avoid.

I just had a vision of an evil snow white using the power to talk to animala to start a bird attack lol No spiritual people don't believe they have powers. They just believe everything is connected and because of that they try to be mindful of their actions. If someone tries to do something against someone else and theyre truly spiritual, then they're doing it knowing that negativity they put into the world will eventually come back around to them. Karma works both ways and can be a bitch.

Spiritual just means one believes the world and universe is bigger than they are and it's all connected in ways they don't fully understand. So the point to is practice mindfulness, be kind to themselves and others because your actions affect your connection to everything around you. This is where stuff like karma comes into play, that the thoughts and actions you put out into the universe will eventually come back around, because of that connection. In contrast, religion is more of a belief in …
