My male gyno flicked my clit ring and asked if i did anything for me. The femake nurse chaperone looked visibly shocked and appalled.

I was young and too upset to do anything about it.

My male GP regularly sexually assaulted me at age 14. It came out that he had asaulted tonnes of women. It went to court and he got off on the excuse that it was old fashioned examination techniques. Bullshit.

The male Dr that gave me my abortion check up sexually assaulted me. The consultant who checked my breasts tried to massage me. I refuse to see men for anything. They may not all be bad but most of them are and they can fuck off. I was young and naieve then but I would fucking kill the cunts if they tried it now.

I think every woman should decide that for herself. For example my mother said that she prefers going to male gynecologists, because she had bad experiences with female ones and I go to a male psychiatrist, because he is the best for my therapy (I tried several female ones and didn’t feel good)

My last GYN was a guy and he would tell me weird ass shit like “you have a very pretty vagina” and went into a lot of details why and he would always touch me while talking, I was 19, lmao.

Next GYN I go to will be a woman.

I understand this kind of post (thought it's not the sub for it) but I've had several bad experiences with female GPs dismissing pain or being useless in helping what should have been obvious problems, also a bad female surgeon, and two female gynecologists who were assholes. Doctors tend to be on a spectrum of arrogance/obedience/no empathy and that goes for a lot a women in those fields too. Don't go to a male gyno, but don't go to a female one with rose coloured glasses... It's better to have a good surprise than a bad one.

While these stories are insane, I actually prefer my male gynecologist. After a decade of overlooked abnormal Pap smears and a female nurse practitioner in his office blowing off my pain and severe bleeding, he found my cervical cancer and had it cut out and biopsied in less than two months. That man saved my life.

I guess it depends where you live. I am polish and best gyno I met where men . Mpre gentle for example for smallest thing like smear test etc. I had female gyno dimiss my awful period pain as something we all had only with male gyno investigating for endo. On the other hand female GPs are much better.

I would honestly never trust male gyno to know anything about my experience with a vagina. I work in healthcare and though I know some male ob/gyns who are very good people, I would never recommend a woman go to a male one..

Also...maybe this is controversial but if you are a woman of color go to a female POC ob/gyn.. My ob/gyn has an amazing office with all female nurses and such and its very a welcoming place. I love it. Always feel heard and listened to.

My idiot pick me former friend insisted that women were “so jealous” of her that she could not have a woman psychologist. Even when I told her mine had experience in the Exact issues we wanted addressed. Nope, she wanted a man. Idiot.
