Life after DivorceAll of the above 😂 but on the up and up my friend | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/03/26 11:09 PM
Stay away from alcohol💯 | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/03/26 02:28 AM
Solo surgeryThere’s plenty of nurses on the apps but for good reason | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/01/26 08:43 PM
Men who got divorced, did you lose a lot of friends?Yeah I initially kept them but two years on feel like all the friendships have basically run their course. Friends trying to stay in shitty marriages don’t want to confront that they’re choosing to stay unhappy and you’re a living testament of that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/01/26 08:20 PM
Anyone attribute COVIDs lock down to the down fall of the marriage?I’d say Covid was a catalyst but the lockdowns were actually a reprieve. My ex lost 3 grandparents in 2020 to Covid and it set her into an emotional spiral that led to family drama (a BIL living with 2 of the grandparents was a jackass and brought it home) and alcohol abuse. But working from home took away one of the major frustrations I had with living near her family but away from where I worked so when the commute came back, so did a lot of the stress and frustrations of not living close to w… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/01/25 05:17 PM
Ok to go through life as a single dad?I had to explain this to a woman the other day. My marriage was such shit and I didn’t get divorced lightly and I did so to give my children peace so I am not going to risk wrecking that peace casually. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/09/24 08:58 PM
After school💯. She knows I really enjoy living in the area I do with my kids now and wants to force me back to where she is so then she can laugh and say the divorce was all for nothing. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/08/24 09:31 PM
After schoolThere’s 3 different schools given their ages so they all get out at different times. I may try to arrange my work schedule to block out an hour earlier so I can get them asap. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/08/24 08:55 PM
After schoolYeah it’s baffling to me honestly. I’d love to be in her position where even on the days I don’t have them I get some time with them, especially in those joyful moments you mentioned. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/08/24 08:54 PM
After schoolSo much so. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/08/24 05:05 AM
DiscussionAbsolutely. The expectations for the lifestyle of the average person is way higher than what that average is and it placed insane pressure on me, a smarter and harder working than average guy, to provide a lifestyle I just could not in today’s economy on my salary alone. Much harder for women to be content with a good man. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/04/24 03:01 PM
The lack of accountability becomes laughableOh mine was trying to guilt trip me for other men buying her groceries and in my head I was just like “you have money, you just waste it all on alcohol and fast food so I don’t feel bad at all that you’re irresponsible” | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/04/24 02:31 PM
The lack of accountability becomes laughableGeez dude, why did you make her drink so much? /s | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/04/24 03:11 AM
The lack of accountability becomes laughableNo joke, that’s verbatim the conversation we had last night. I was the reason she had a drinking problem. I worked too much. Well I’m sorry, somebody had to pay the bills for the life of luxury you felt entitled to. Good riddance. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/04/24 11:51 PM
I’m hurtingSome days are great, other days and weeks really hurt brother. My stbx was incredibly fun and we had a lot of good times together, I really love(d) her. But that didn’t mean she was a good partner so eventually I had to call it. But yeah when I think of our last family vacation this time last year, shit really hurts. You just gotta hold out for better days. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/04/24 06:55 PM
Did anybody have very bad fights before divorce? The bad fights in front of the kids for years lead me to finally make the call that she never would. This week a neighbor told me that their daughter across the street and up a hill could hear our fights. I hated who we both had become and therapy did little to change her behavior and the fights became physically violent on her part. Once that happened, I had to call it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/04/24 06:25 PM
How do you cope with the anger and frustration that your spouse triggers in you?Time up in the woods | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/03/24 07:52 PM
Double standardIt’s the Amber Heard argument, “even if I hit you, I can’t really hurt you because look at me I’m so small in comparison” | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/03/24 03:22 PM
Where to liveOh man I’m sorry bro, that is even worse in a way because I could at least feasibly rent a place here whereas your hand is basically being forced. I don’t want to be an every other weekend dad but I don’t know what else is really feasible if I don’t live up this way which I really, really do not want to do for any other reason than my kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/01/24 05:53 AM
Where to liveI hear you there. I don’t know if I can afford to do the commute regularly from both financial and time perspectives. The cost was a wedge in the marriage. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/01/24 03:12 AM
Someone talk some sense into me.My dude…show yourself some respect and her the door. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/12/23 01:36 AM
Dying alone... We shouldn't be scared of that.I’d rather die alone than feel like I’m living alone with somebody. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/12/23 08:20 PM
Calm before the storm? This really resonates with me. Thanks for chiming in and helping me process this. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/12/23 06:54 AM
Calm before the storm?Stay with us brother.* Edit: realized terrible wording | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/12/23 06:53 AM
I’m just so mad at herThanks man and I’m really sorry it came to that for you. I had a similar realization, that the entire relationship was just on this continuum of abuse that had escalated from verbal and emotional abuse to physical. It was where I realized there was no more question, I couldn’t accept this and normalize it for my children. I’d never advise them to stay in a relationship where their spouse got drunk and even attempted to physically hurt them. And then stupidly I tried to forgive her and it lasted … | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/11/23 06:35 AM
I’m just so mad at herI wish I could honestly say it was. The fight that preceded “the fight” was alcohol induced, but “the fight” wasn’t. Sadly, some of the same insecurities and demons that plagued our entire marriage. Thanks for your support and I feel for you as well man. This all really fucking sucks. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/11/23 06:53 AM
