When I see women in short shorts my immediate reaction is usually "They look good." not "They want to be seen as objects for my sexual pleasure."

Puh-leaze the only reason you think they're dressed like sex objects is because you objectify the female anatomy. Women are allowed to dress however they want. If your son grows up with it, he'll probably be desensitized to this kind of clothing. Women in the future might have do some crazy shit to be sexual objects. Or he might not even be attracted to the female body.

I think the deeper question is interpretation versus intention. Also, when does fetishization become sexualization? And when does sexualization become objectification?

I too have experienced this, but like most men I have become too fearful of being branded a misogynist if I say something.

However, I have come to a conclusion that despite what feminist might say, there is something deep down in their psyche that wants them to be sexual objects, when it suits them.

It is, as I see it, another way of controlling men.

You forget, women don't choose to dress in short shorts. They are forced to do so by Teh Patriarchy. Women are eternal passive helpless agency-less victims and can never be held responsible for anything they do.
