Don't believe a word of what they say. Had you been more possessive, THAT would have been the pretext. The rationalization is something the brain invents post hoc, and is not necessarily the real reason.

A more likely explanation is, she felt threatened by your apparent lack of jealousy, and decided to preemptively leave the relationship to save face before you "inevitably" left her, a mark of low self-esteem, probably derived from a similar experience in her past, where she was pumped and dumped by a high-value male who displayed a similar ambivalence towards her.

Do whatever you want, but don't give too much credence to anything an ex tells you. If you were jealous, she would have broken up with you for being jealous. In the end, the pretext doesn't matter very much: They either want to be with you or they don't. If they lose interest and don't want to be with you, you could be the best man in the world, handsome, make good money, etc., they'll find some shit to be upset about and break up.

And some of the "reasons" they give you can be a total mindfuck. Women will redefine your whole relationship and history based on their current emotional state. If she feels like you're shit today, then she's very likely to think the whole relationship was shit and that it was all your fault for being shit. So don't listen to that BS.

Be friends with her if you want, but honestly most girls make shitty friends. And don't be a beta orbiter.

You were possibly too alpha and did not provide enough comfort(you failed comfort tests). Personally i think showing jealousy is bad and should never be done however i know some girls require more confort than others usually because theyre more insecure. It means you had frame and hand in the relationship. If you'd acted jealous, she would've been less attracted to you, and things would've been worse. Basically, she's upset that she couldn't wrap you around her finger, and you maintained dignity.

If she thinks you weren't jealous enough, it means she did things to try to make you feel jealous....which is of course a big red flag, and means she could never be trusted, so the 'dodged a bullet' idiom, while overused, applies here.
