If she thinks that's offensive she should check out any jewelry ad, where a man's worth is determined by his female companion from the amount of money he's willing and able to spend on compressed carbon.

Did anyone check the statistics as to how many men want to receive baking books and animal calendars as presents? And especially romance books?

Maybe Amazon is not interested in stereotyping women, but simple in recommending what sells best. They just want to make money.

But opposing feminists is bad for business, so they just axed it. After all, who would boycott Amazon for obeying feminists?

But, feminists are not interested in realities of life. They live in a theoretical ivory tower of total equality of genders who are all socially constructed out of blanks slate babies.

I wonder if other companies will follow, nearly every large shop does similar things, baking/gardening things for women and tools/novelty gadgets for men

Do people really have nothing better to do than to complain about "For him / For her" lists? Do feminists really not see how pointless they are when all they can do is nitpick over 'his and hers' lists, or 'men at work' signs...

Well, I don't know about romance novels, which are usually very specifically geared to women anyway, but I have a lot of guy friends who would like an animal calender and I personally would prefer cookbooks to political biographies.

Haha, well, if you need a "for her" list to find a christmas present for your partner, you're not in a great relationship. But:

The male section was all about science fiction, political biographies and business books

Saying it is sexist not to have items like these in the "for her" section and proposing to put science fiction, political biographies and business books in the "for her" section could be interpreted as an attempt to strain happy relationships.

Really I had some great longterm relationships with intelligent women, but none of these items would have made a good present.

Of course there might be women who would love those, but then her partner would know it and never look at that list.

Funny story: One of my ex-girlfriends often chose birthday and christmas presents which she thought "would be good for me". Books and movies that I would have never bought voluntarily. Romantic movies for example. I never wanted those AND then had to read/watch those.

So I bought her "Conan the destroyer" for Valentine's Day. Afer that, she chose presents that she knew "made me happy" rather than presents that would "be good for me".
