An inequality I've hated since Elementary school.

Apparently, at one time men were expected to remove their hats when in the presence of a woman in a public building, and not walking.

For women, it was inappropriate to wear a hat in church, or with an evening gown.

However, most diplomatic experts and manners..."specialists," I suppose...agree that social conventions have changed.

I never have heard of this issue - no one was allowed to wear hats when I was in school (K-12).

I felt the same way when I was in grade school. I get cold really easily, and I couldn't even wear a beanie to cover my ears. As weird as it sounds, I had to resort to wearing a scarf and using that to cover my ears because the school would give me crap if I ever committed the heinous crime of wearing a hat indoors.

At my school, we have to pay a dollar each on the one hat day we have in the year.

I've had a similar instance in elementary school. For some reason, a bunch of kids (mostly guys however there were several girls present) put their lunch bags on their head and started talking in silly voices. In comes the principle and gives all the guys detention (some of us were being quiet and eating our lunch) and all the girls got off without a hitch (even the ones who were wearing lunch bags on their heads... We had to stay inside the ENTIRE lunch. Never was I so pissed of in elementary school than I was on that day

Same rule in my elementary school. Boys can't wear hats because we're all violent and might be in a gang, girls can because they like fashion more and it might complete their outfit. Wut?
