I haven't posted in r/mensrights before, but this abortion is a "womans" right is starting to piss me off. Doesn't that father get any say about his child to be?

No. Its not the father's body. Discussion between the potential mother and father should be encouraged but at no point should men get a veto or even an official 'say' on abortion. No one should want to force women to have an unwanted child.

Both men and women should instead be provided with adequate and effective birth control methods to avoid unwanted pregnancies, that way both parties consent, not just one.

Political ideology is going to dictate people's opinions on this, but neither side of the abortion debate would likely place the right to that decision with men.

Those who do not consider abortion an immoral choice will mostly consider it a woman's right, not something a man should be able to either force or prevent. If abortion is not wrong because the unborn baby is not a living human organism, then it would be the strict right of its carrier, the mother, to choose whether to carry to term or not, because her body would be the only one immediately subjected to the result of that decision (either pregnancy, or surgery.) This is why making that choice should be considered a decision to accept full responsibility for raising the child, meaning that in the case of unwed parents, any support from the father should be optional, not required by law. Responsibility for the result of a decision should be on the one making that decision.

Those who do consider it an immoral choice will mostly consider it something to prevent regardless of the desires of either parent. If abortion is wrong because the unborn baby is a living human organism, then it would be the strict right of the baby to be protected from such harm, regardless of the opinions of the parents.

Personally, it's not the "abortion is a woman's right" argument that bothers me, but the "abortion is a women's issue" argument, which I see as a cop-out designed to cut off debate rather than address the reasoning behind anti-abortion arguments. The factors on which those arguments are based are largely genderless, and can therefore be held by both sexes. The fact that only one sex gets pregnant doesn't alter the questions involved; if the argument is that we're dealing with a living human organism, it doesn't matter whether that argument is being made by the organism's carrier or an outsider, whether it's made by someone who can carry a baby or by someone who can't. Whether the argument is correct or false, it is so regardless of the sex of it's speaker. Regardless of which side your opinion falls on, that debate (whether or not the nature of the unborn baby makes abortion an immoral choice) belongs equally to both sexes.

It's not a woman's rights issue OR a men's rights issue. It's a moral and scientific dialog asking the question, "When does a human being become a human being" I'm tired of both the right and the left misconstruing this debate.

Since I'm a nihilist, I'm neither pro-choice nor pro-life. I believe I can answer this most fairly:

In the case where the woman wants an abortion but the man considers it a human being, I would say... no, the man should not have a legal option to force childbirth. To put it simply, while it can be highly upsetting for the man in this situation, it would also be too open to abuse - any disgruntled ex could use the power to cripple (to varying extents) the woman's life...

Or, at least, that's what I thought. But literally as I was typing this out, I realised that it's a flawed argument - if the man did this, then the man would also be forced to take sole responsibility for the child too. A disgruntled ex wouldn't do that.

Hm.

I'm going to have to think this one out again.

OH! Also, I completely agree: abortion should absolutely not be anything but a purely philosophical issue. People who try make it purely a women's issue tend to do so because they don't want to debate philosophy. ...which, I've also found is nearly everyone, since the only philosophy that actually defines when life begins is Deontology (aka: religion), and usually not very well - and that's not a good basis for a nation-wide system.
