Refuting? No, I wouldn't try refuting, unless they're using actual facts.

Just say something like "No, I'm sorry, but I see this as bad as saying black people are thieves, or Jews are greedy. If you don't cut out this sexist talk, or at least back up what you're saying with facts, then I will unfriend you."

...although I get the feeling it's a bit late now.

Do another one that shows a mother punching the child while she sticks a needle in her arm, then the loving father being nurturing and caring, then a judge giving full custody to the mother, then the mother punching the child again.

It is one thing to say a man is irresponsible with children, but the illustration that meme gives off is incredibly unsettling. You did the right thing defending yourself. Popular extremism allows people to form an invisible shield that makes people like the woman who posted this meme feel as if they are safe. The more and more I understand the theories of masculism the more I realize these agendas and shields need to stop. It hurts me to think there may be someone who would ever even insinuate I would treat a child or innocent being that way. But it's the truth.

You could start with how fatherless homes are more likely to end up with kids who are in trouble with the law, abuse drugs, etc.

You could always ignore them or send a private message with facts and figures. It is not as glamorous as a Facebook throw down, but when people don't look like fools, they often times are more open to new ideas.

You could direct them to below linked HHS report from 2009. It shows females abuse children more than males. There are two factors to consider but they conteract each other. First, women spend more time with children. So, that tends to paint the figures in a more female-friendly light. However, the second factor is that HHS is well known to be guided by leftist and feminist types. So, that tends to counteract the first factor. In any case, it is clear that women don't have room to trash talk men when it comes to abusing or otherwise being irresponsible to children. Here's the link:

We all know women are well known good parents.

Also, women kill their children at a higher rate than men.

Crass and awful things to say.

But hey, it doesn't bother me to stoop to others level.
