Women in general oppose anything that drops the demand for sex with a woman...porn, prostitutes and in the future, sexbots. Male sex toys like the fleshlight are thought of as shameful and guys who use them are losers who can't get laid. If a woman can't control a guy through sex then it's as if someone is breaking the rules to a game they invented and where only they get to decide what the rules are.

I have seen this already in the younger men. They have both less drive due to the potential mates being atrocious as well as things being much harder than it was in their father generation which means both the incentive is worse and the goal posts are much further apart. Why kill myself working 60+ hours a week for something that does not properly compensate me for my time and when it does compensate me the thing I would use it for is kind of crap? Things are different and the quality of potential mates go up once the boys get older but by that time it is far to late.

Dilbert is insightful, but wrong. Computer assisted virtual partners will be available long before sexbots become realistic. A man will go to sleep, and immediately wake up in a waking dream state with a partner of his choice. Most of us occasionally experience the remarkable realism of waking dream states, which are not hard to produce medically. A partner in such an "alternate" existence could be a powerful emotional, physical, and spiritual partner to most men.

At first, most men will pick "virtual women" as their virtual partners. In time I think men will be more creative. Judging by the popularity of humanoid (but not human) female characters in Japanese animated pornography, about 80% of men will choose tree spirits, water sprites, or hot druids as their partners.

The surprise will come when the majority of men fall in love with one specific virtual partner. Since they will be interactive, emotive, supportive, needy, etc., men will develop the same feelings for these virtual partners, as we do for real women. In time, most men will live shadow lives by day, yearning for the time when they can ascend into the waking dream state to be with the life partner that they are desperately in love with.

Women will find virtual partners less attractive, since female desire is strongly centered on resource extraction and exploitation. In the end, women will find advanced physical sex bots (who can lift things and do work) more attractive. Ironic, I know.

Giant error in this article:

Feminist groups might oppose sexbots because by reducing the percentage of men in the dating pool, sexbots would increase the dating market power of the men still interested in dating humans, and consequently the sexbots would turn the dating market “terms of trade” against women.

Ignoring for a moment the problematic aspects of seeing dating as a market, which it isn't (or if it is, it's a really poorly run one with awful information asymmetries and a huge system of cultural mores that interfere with what would economically be considered rational behavior), there's a big problem with this. The article assumes that only female sexbots will exist, and that only men will use them. It assumes that women would not also find sexbots appealing, and use them, decreasing the available women in the dating pool. This is a throwback to an inaccurate view that women basically don't want sex and only do it for shiny baubles, an idea that is simply factually inaccurate.
