It's a saying to get the husband to supplicate to the wife.

She won't be happy, but people believe she'll be appeased if the husband does whatever she asks. She's trying to get the point of cheating on you and having you be okay with it, all while having you continue to provide for her.

You don't have to be married to be happy, but if you ARE married, you definitely won't be happy if your wife is unhappy. If your wife is happy you are probably going to be happy too, because what makes a wife happy is the absence of problems.

i thought of it less literally than: "because what makes a wife happy is the absence of problems." but thats very true too! its symbiotic, where both parties want to be pleased and want the other to be happy

Any woman of character will always be happy with a real man assuming she is sexually attracted to him. In my opinion.

The problem with the saying is that it implies the woman is in control of the man. To me the person who says this has given up, and I am not to judge them for it, but I do not believe they are living like real men. To me, assuming responsibility is a large part of the overall concept.

I guess maybe I find the saying more coincidental than revealing?

yeah its like the guy just took off the pants of the relationship and handed them to her, the easy way to say that i cant be arsed being in charge
