No. Laws should always be 100% gender neutral. The law should not try to make people equal it should treat them equally. The later is well known to actually cause more equality than the former btw.

By the same logic, blacks should retire earlier than whites, short people should retire earlier than tall ones.

If that sounds absurd to you, it should. If you really believe the state should make things "equal" for one party relative to another, why only look at gender?

I'm a titwielder and this sounds okie-dokie to me, especially seeing as how women get maternity leave and yet paternity leave is something US employers still don't generally offer. Seems fair to let them off the hook early if, statistically, they have fewer retirement years to enjoy.

edit: I also agree with betaprime. Short black dudes would make out like bandits.

The same holds true for pretty much every country in the world, by the way - not just the United States.

In the United Kingdom, the retirement age is 60 for a woman and 65 for a man. This is very sexist against men. It should be the other way around!

i agree.... after all.. femminist see nothing wrong with women getting special treatment when they have a problem due to there biologcial nature.... im sure femminists being so big on eqaulity would not mind one bit if women paid higher taxes to suport men getting social secuirty more early and for longer.

Lets take 5 women and 5 men.

Of the women, the ages and cause of death are as follows:

76 yrs, cancer / natural
74 yrs, cancer / natural
82 yrs, cancer / natural
80 yrs, cancer / natural 54 yrs, suicide
= 73 yrs avg

Now of the men, whom have higher suicide rates and admission rates to the army:

34 yrs, suicide
81 yrs, cancer / natural
77 yrs, cancer / natural
24 yrs, in service. 88 yrs, cancer / natural
= 60.8 yrs avg.
