There are so many errors in this statement you've made I'm not sure where to begin, but having raised my brother for most of my life and all of his allow me to impart some wisdom.

No person no matter what financial, social, psychological condition, no one, is ready to raise a child, the best thing you can hope for is to be able to tell them everyday that everything you do is out of love and devotion and you hope to god you don't fuck them up. So two dads, two moms, 1 of each, only one, whatever you have, it doesn't matter a kid raised in a loving environment will do well.

I think love is love. Unless it's a romantic relationship, the gender of the other person in no way makes the love better, more special or anything else. If you really want kids and you can provide a good, loving home, it shouldn't matter your gender. The stuff about all mothers being somehow special is the stuff of fairy tales.

From the looks of things, everybody is disagreeing. It seems like it's just the op with some messed up views, and /r/gaybros is just fine :) Which is good, because it's one of my favorite subs.

I'm gay and that doesn't qualify me as an expert of LGBT bullshit, but here are my two cents:

/r/gaybros is an odd subreddit.

Most state that they are fine out of the closet but they seem hateful against most of the homo cliches, so it's at least expected that they have some classic sexist ideas.

The replies are interesting, but it's interesting to note that most conservatives think that a child needs a father and a mother. PERIOD. And on top of that, the mother is usually seen as more important to the child's growth and the father is the bread maker. Classic gender stereotypes.

Now, someone please correct me if I'm wrong about whatever up to this point, but I would like to address this part of the statement:

I am a gay man and I personally could never adopt a child for that reason.

That's a really shitty reason to not adopt anyone.

If you think that, in any motherfucking situation, it's better to leave a kid on foster care than adopting, then you have problems.

Specially by a homo affective couple.

I think his argument would be more logical if he felt that a child should have both a paternal and maternal figure in their life purely because it benefits the child, rather than believing:

A paternal figure is important but I don't believe as much as maternal.

I mean, I don't see why believing a child should have both has to imply that one is better than the other.
