I love political dissent as much as the next guy, but it'd be nice if as many people cared about say, fathers rights, as about Pussy Riot.

People are confused because they think they have the same laws in Russia as they do in America, they disrespected Putin and in a country that hasn't got the same freedoms as America it is a big no-no, but stories like this will be soon forgotten (Kony 2012 as an example) however people will still remember and think about father's rights long after

If you walk into a church and start playing pussy riot girl, what do you expect? Show some damned common sense and respect. If you walk into a church, synagogue or mosque and start jumping about like stripper lunatics, expect to get locked up for the morons you are. If you walked into my house and tried pulling that crap, first I'd kick your ass, then I'd have you locked up.

There are numerous politically persecuted artists & musicians worldwide. Many of them get a great deal of exposure. Ai Weiwei, a Chinese artist, in fact had a major documentary about him that has been well-received. Burma alone has something like 2,000 political prisoners. Ganzeer has been arrested in Egypt, and Samantha Lo in Singapore.

Then, of course, there are prisoners that aren't exactly "political" and certainly not artists/musicians, but who nonetheless garner a large amount of support from celebrities and younger radical-type folk, such as Mumia Abu-Jumal and the WM3.

Honestly, caring about things isn't really a finite resource. You don't have to just go one way with it. Even if no one gave a shit about Pussy Riot's imprisonment, what good would that do men's rights?
