Female Teacher, Male Student, Female Prosecutor

Commonwealth’s Attorney Michelle Snodgrass had recommended an 18-month sentence. She then told Stine details of the crime that hadn’t become public since Conners pleaded guilty to avoid trial.

Snodgrass said people advocating a lenient sentence were practicing what amounts to reverse sexism.

“My victim has had not just the mental and emotional problems from this incident, but he is also having physical problems,” Snodgrass said. “He has been hospitalized four times since this all came about, mainly related to issues of his anxiety and stress.”

She said the victim blames himself for what happened. “He shouldn’t feel guilty,” Snodgrass said. “He is a child, but that is the effect this crime has.”
