You know what, I'll criticize him. The fucker lost his baby and ran away instead of trying to find him. He should be ashamed of himself, but not because he didn't stay with his girlfriend.

One of the things I never understood about feminism and special interest groups in general is why they need to defend every member in their group. Nobody should stand up for this guy just because he's a man. Say what you will about him leaving his girlfriend, she's an adult and should be able to fend for herself. However, this guy left a 4 year old and a 4 month old in the theater with a shooter to save his own life. That's cowardly and despicable in my mind. Nobody should be standing up for this guy. Its guys like this that help justify the mindset that women should be custody of kids over men.

No.. Just no.. I don't care that he left her in there, I can almost ignore him leaving his kids in there.. He DROVE away from the scene! Who does that? He drove away not knowing where his kids and girlfriend were. The poor parenting shown by both of them in choosing to take the kids in the first place is incredible! Surely the first instinct of a good parent is to protect your child?

I'm certainly not going to criticize someone for reacting the way they did in that situation because there's absolutely no way that I can ever put myself in their shoes and say how I would react. That being said, this sentence right here is what I would attack about his reaction to the situation if I could. And I'm sure that sounds like I'm criticizing him despite what I just said but I don't exactly know how to explain it better right now. I guess I can just understand why people are criticizing him for his reaction without having the capacity to do so myself.

I don't think this is as much about him leaving his girlfriend as it is about him leaving his child. If it were me and my girlfriend, I might wish her good luck before I bolted out the door, but my kid, thats a different story.

Commenters on these sites are always terrible. Have you checked out the regular comments on CNN, Fox, or MSNBC for any given story? They are all sexist, racist, homophobic or just filled with religious zealots. The story itself gives the guy a fair view, makes him seem like he was just reacting to a high stress situation (though I don't agree with what he did). All this judging by comments is really stupid. Most sites don't have an up vote (and more importantly) downvote system like reddit has, so we get to see whatever any ignorant jackass puts up there, completely unfiltered. If you fight a comments section on a news site, you're gonna have a bad time.
