i say it everytime, no one's bothering to ask the really important question...how much is enough? how much money is the bare minimum to raise a child? to what level of luxury or lifestyle should child support contribute to raising a child? does child support need to put a silver spoon in the kids mouth or just ensure there's mac & cheese on the table?

stop this rdiculousness where child support is a percentage of whatever the court thinks the parent's income is and find out how much, flat rate for everyone, is enough to cover costs.

This is why child support is fucked. Some women (and men) don't get enough to buy food for their kid. Others get thousands a month.

I still don't understand why child support is paid to the mother. Anyone care to explain? I don't mean sarcastically, ie because mama needs new shoes, I mean how is this explained in the court?

My opinion is that 30k a month would actually be fair. That's $360k a year to cover private school, security, and miscellaneous costs. When it comes to comedian Kevin Hart, this amount is an outrage. When it comes to the billionaire CEO of PPR, this is chump change.

Ehh... I don't think this is the worst thing in the world. I think it's appropriate for the child support amount to be relative to the income of the father. It should be enough the the child can be raised in the type of environment he would have been raised in pre-divorce, there should not be a drop in the child's quality of life... even in strange situations like this.

Still, there should maybe be an upper limit. Over half a million per year? There's simply no way all of that is going towards the child.
