I wish America would say this to single mothers.

"Don't have a child if you cannot afford it alone."

"Don't have a child if the man does not want to be a father."

"Don't have a child just because you want a baby."

etc

On topic: India's government is almost fully feminized, so this is not surprising to hear from a judge. Castigate the men for their ill advised decisions [but not women for saying yes to the marriage.]

Marriage has never been a partnership between two individuals, despite what the media would want to portray.

It's not like spending $15K on a wedding and ring will suddenly fix any relationship issues, or ensure the other does not cheat, etc...

I'm glad this idea is being more and more legitimized from the top down, maybe then more men will not seek marriage as an "end goal" for a relationship.

That's almost the average yearly income in India. I'm amazed at how men are expected to maintain the lifestyle of other adults simply because they were married at one point. I doubt men will cry over marriage when the concept is dead and buried.

This is actually not bad advice to give men...BEFORE thet get married.

"Don't get married if you can't afford to give her most of everything you earn for decades to come".

I wonder if this ruling may be religiously influenced as it sounds very much like one of the laws of Islam. Islamic marriage laws are actually more female-centric then people realise; A man is not permitted to marry unless he can afford to support his wife even though women ARE permitted to work and in the case of divorce a man must continue to look after the woman in his home fully providing for her and treating her kindly for a cooling off period of atleast 1 month.
