29 months? Excuse me? If the genders were reversed, the sentence would be excruciatingly longer.

Not to mention half the comments all poke fun at the victim. Just gross.

This man received 6 years for rape. That said, I believe that the court made the right decision and his excuse is ridiculous. I am not supporting him, nor his actions or his defense. I am simply comparing the length of the sentences and trying to assert my point that if the victim is a male minor, the sentence is drastically different.

I really hate the if he is hard he is consenting. You can't control how your body reacts. Women being raped can get an orgasm. Doesn't mean they will enjoy getting an orgasm while they are being raped... If you were to get raped in the ass, you're going to get a hard on even if it's your first time being plunged in the butt...

At the bottom of the article where you can look through other student sex scandals some 90% of the perpetrators featured are women... I didn't expect that. Either theres a complete lack of male predators or the huffington post choose to selectively choose women to feature.

I am astonished at all of the comments that use the argument that the boy "liked it" or that it will "give him experience". This is an example of how males in our society are taught to just tough things out and not feel anything.

This woman is an ADULT that MANIPULATED a young person; some one else's CHILD. She violated her role as an adult, a teacher, a mentor, and pseudo-guardian. I don't care what they do in Europe...she violated the trust of so many people in the worst way, repeatedly.

McCallum, 29, was... convicted of raping the boy up to 300 times over a 21-month period. She pleaded guilty to 12 counts of child rape, one count of drugging a person for sex and one count of providing alcohol to a minor....

This didn't make sense based on what I know of the US justice system (you don't take a plea bargain and then also get convicted of the crime), so I did a bit more searching. It turns out the boy accused her of raping him about 300 times. Obviously this is an important distinction. I also found disagreements among new sources regarding what exactly McCallum's plea bargain entailed. For instance, from "My Fox Boston:"

[McCallum] pleaded guilty to 12 counts of child rape and providing alcohol to a minor.... sentenced to five years, to serve only three years in prison.... 10 years probation with a number of conditions, including registering as a sex offender, and staying away from children under 16, excluding her own children.

It'd be best to see the actual documents related to the case, since the news isn't consistent. I just wanted to point out that this light sentence is not for 300 counts of rape.
