This is a major problem. The expectation that men put themselves in harms way for female protection. It is the individuals choice alone what to do with his life, being male does not make me someone's bodyguard.

Doesn't she know? Men who help 12 year old girls are sexual predators. He'd probably end up raping all of them.

Which is it? Intervene or not intervene? It seems either way you're going to catch flak for it [and possibly jail time.]

He didn't have to intervene directly, he could have called the cops. I'd be saying the same thing if it were a group of boys outside ganging up on another boy. It's human decency, not "protecting women."

It doesn't blame him, it lambasts him for not stopping it.

I'm not a fan of people being looked down on for not involving themselves in others' problems, but when it's a group of little girls if you just yelled at them they'd probably stop. I'd prefer there was less focus on him (one mention rather than several throughout the article) but I don't support him for just standing there and watching it. Also 12 year olds != women.
