The OP is way off base with the title. Very few feminists are Solanas worshipping psychopaths; the bulk simply want to irrevocably establish that men have all the power and women are the victims of everything bad. This allows them to write social policy to empower women without worrying about difficult things like true equality.

That said, this is another fine demonstration of why the social "sciences" are held in such low regard. Patriarchy theory has no hard numbers to define it, but these idiots felt that the murder of women would be a good proxy (if male homicides turn up higher, you can be sure it wouldn't be attributed to nasty matriarchal/feminist influences).

The author's intentions even seem to be looking out for men: "men’s higher mortality is a preventable social condition, which could be tackled through global social policy measures." But we know the actual results - policies will be directed to entitle women, and the problems of men will magically fix themselves as a logical result.

That's one way of looking at it. The other way is that oppressive societies oppress both women and men, with negative consequences for all.

Only the raddest rad-fems want men to die. The rest don't care much one way or another. But they don't want to hear about it.

Try talking about men dying - 98% of war deaths, 93% of workplace fatalities, 80% of suicides. Men suffer more premature deaths from 9 of the top 10 diseases, while the government spends many times as much money on women's health than men's health (there are 7 Offices of Women's Health in the U.S. Government, but 0 Offices of Men's Health).

What is the feminist response to a man who raises those issues? Shut Up. Stop whining. Women have it so much worse. Men do these things to themselves. Misogynist. Hate-speech speaker. Hate-group member. You're like the KKK.

Here is an alternate and equally valid title for the article:

Are invisible, multicolored jelly beans the source of men's higher mortality?

There is absolutely zero corroborating evidence for the sexist concept of "patriarchy" in Western countries. These "feminists" should stick to advocating against patriarchy in places that actually have them, such as Sudan or Saudi Arabia. Anything else is transparent, sexist, self serving bullshit.

Considering the official position of power enjoyed by feminism, in Universities, in legislation (VAWA, councils on the status of women), in law enforcement policy (duluth model, primary aggressor policies), it's blatantly dishonest to say that we live in a "patriarchy".
