A fantastic example that can be used to tell the other side that strippers aren't exploited. They exploit.

Other than a bachelor party or guys night out or two, return customers to a strip club are there to fill some missing element in their life. A good stripper knows this and plays the part for money.

Now it's free market economics. He's buying pseudo-companionship and she's selling. Some guys think that they are buying real companionship because, possibly, they don't even know how women even work. They aren't vending machines that churn out love and respect when you put a dollar in.

But don't ever feed me the bullshit that strippers are exploited poor girls who would rather work a much harder job for half the pay to get through college and are forced into this.

Even in this example, this woman feels bad about what she did to that guy but hasn't even thought about the idea of returning the money. Part of it is the laptop she is typing that on. That can be returned and a check sent in the mail to the guy, for example.

But why did she feel bad?

Eventually I couldn't stand the look of desperation in his eyes even within the club, and fear of being discovered by management of what I had done made me tell him I did not want to see him again.

Her fear was mostly for her job.

I find it annoying how some people are saying "Oh it's not your fault, it was his." Yes, he was an idiot for doing that (or just in a very poor mental state) but she isn't innocent here. She did something very shitty, and posting on reddit isn't enough to now make her a good person. This isn't a couple hundred, this is 15,000 pounds.

IDK. I'm not saying strippers are untrustworthy, but you go to strip clubs to pay for T&A and fake affection. Why is this any different...at least until the point she met him outside of the club?

I think anyone who is reading this and focusing on the woman is missing the lesson of the story.

Personally I don't think that there is anything unusual about finding a person who would do what this woman did. I think if you gave all the men in the world the same power over other people that she had, there would be some men who would abuse it too.

I think the real moral of the story is that too many men are willing to do so much for the women in their life without getting much of anything in return. If we really want to curb abuse such as this we need to talk about and prevent this self-destructive behavior.
