It's not that I can't afford to pay, nor am I an aspiring Wag after a meal ticket. It's a simple case of economics.

Researchers say women spend £85.38 on average preparing for a date, ie the outfit, make-up and ever more adventurous forms of waxing. What's more, most single girls take 24 frog dates to find their prince - haemorrhaging £2,049.12 on grooming along the way.

I read that and assumed it was a fluff-piece designed to inspire controversy and thereby traffic to the site. I mean both "authors" seemed to intentionally go out of their way to insult and demean anyone would didn't conform to their exacting views on the subject.

I've been on three first dates. The first time he paid (although I tried to pay for mine, he stopped me), the last two I paid for my meal, he paid for his.

Women who want men to always pay for the first date meal must return their "fighting for equality" card.

I've never dated a woman who brought politics into who pays the bill. Sometimes they liked to pay, sometimes they liked to split, sometimes I offered. All it takes is 2 minutes of talking to come to an agreement. Communication wins out again.
