I agree that my participation in my children's abuse is unacceptable. I never said it was right or okay - only that I think I might understand.

No Longer Quivering is not about garnering sympathy for those of us who abused or allowed our children to be abused in the name of Jesus. We're here to expose the teachings and the ideals and hopefully shed some light on what really goes on in Quiverfull/patriarchal (Christian fundamentalist) homes. None of us ex-Quiverfull moms are making excuses - we take responsibility and sharing our stories is a way to turn the heartbreak and suffering of our children into a warning for other moms so that at least we can hopefully prevent other children from going through what our kids suffered.

It seems like this woman got out from a sort of cult called "Quiverfull Movement" or something like that. Looks like a religious fundamentalist group with a strong and sick belief in "the biblical authority of the father" (click on "What Is Quiverfull?").

I mean she's probably affected by her living into that shit, don't be too hard with her.

Personally I don't think spanking a kid with your belt is anything outrageous. The kid doesn't suffer any lasting physical affects past some welts. I think most people born before 1980 would have copped some kind of physical punishment from parents or even teachers. It's just because we live in a society where everyone is a little snowflake and can't handle (or want to pretend they can't) any of the rigours of life people have dealt with through human history.

Personally I think psychological abuse, which mothers excel in is the worst kind of abuse there is. My father might have raged and got out a coat hanger or belt, but it was over quick enough and was done. However my mother's rages and guilt trips would last hours or days at a time to be brought up again when she felt like it.

Corporal punishment in my opinion is fine if not excessive. This video might have been moving towards excessive, but I cop worse punishment playing rugby on the weekend.

What I think is most disgraceful about this incident is that this girl released this because her father wanted his car back. At the same time he was paying for her cell phone. Then she goes with her mother who is having a bitter divorce with her father on tv to further damage him.

Oh, and now her mother is using this as an excuse to not hand over his child for his visitation.

This is what I actually thought of as well. Despite seeing the mother hit Hillary with the belt, I didn't dislike her as a person as much as I did with her father.
