dear ........,

Despite the breakdown of our marriage, it is still in both our interests to cooperate on those matters which bring us together. You do not want to be raising children who are difficult to deal with or who will later resent you for restricting their access to parenting time with their father or who will have learnt antagonistic behaviours from either of us. I do not wish to undergo the disruption caused by your dropping the children of several hours late as occurred on (date).

We are both mature adults and it would be a shame for everybody, you me and the children if we could not resolve our differences in a manner which reflects that maturity. If there is a real difficulty in fulfilling the requirements of our court settlement, I shall be happy to discuss it and help resolve it with you.

I am hoping to, and succeeding in, moving on with my own life and I wish you the best in doing the same. While this is probably not something I will be able to help you with very much, if their are issues between us which are affecting you, let's get together to resolve them as soon as possible so that we can all make the most of an imperfect situation.

Or stuff like that but in your own words. Far more likely to be effective than paying big bucks to a lawyer. Keep it polite and factual. If an approach like that doesn't work then I expect nothing will and at least you will be able to feel good about yourself for having maintained a good standard of behaviour and attitude.
