Did it account for the amount of parenting time spent by both mothers, social mothers and fathers?

It's fairly well established that the greater the amount of parenting time a father has, the greater the benefit to the child. It may be that lesbian parents are more likely to have a more equitable sharing of parenting time then heterosexual couples.

It's also rather suspect that they found no difference between the offspring of separated or intact lesbian families. Were there different custody arrangements for divorced lesbians then their heterosexual counterparts?

Better child outcomes are also correlated with having significant parenting time with both parents post-breakup. If the children of lesbian parents were more likely to maintain their relationships with both parents then this might have affected the results as well.

Wow. This is fascinating. Embedded in a survey of lesbian parenting is a strong endorsement of a rebuttable presumption of joint physical custody for heterosexual couples:

The finding that adolescents whose mothers had separated since T1 fared as well in psychological adjustment as those whose mothers were still together may reflect another protective factor: the shared custody arrangements in a majority of reconstituted NLLFS families. Custody was more likely to be shared in these families when the mothers had previously completed a co-parent (second parent) adoption agreement.25 Studies show that shared childrearing is associated with more favorable outcomes after separation or divorce.49 Moreover, many American children experience a change in family structure, regardless of their parents’ sexual orientation: among heterosexuals, nearly 50% of first marriages in the United States end in divorce, lasting on average 7 to 8 years,50 with 65% of mothers retaining sole physical and legal custody of their children51; in the NLLFS, 56% of couples separated after being together an average of 12 years, with 71.4% sharing custody.

So much of the benefit to having lesbians as parents is that children don't loose contact with a parent upon dissolution of the relationship.

So the real takeaway from your study is that we should stop eviscerating men's relationships with their children upon divorce!

Considering that feminists had no trouble manufacturing "studies" to support all kinds of lies ranging from the "wage gap" to the "1 in 4 women will [insert bad thing here]" or "only men commit domestic violence" etc.. etc.. etc...

Why should we trust a study carried by people with an agenda, financed by lesbian activists, and using a selected sample who was self-reporting the metrics being measured?

The results are more than a little suspicious if you consider that lesbian couples are significantly more likely to experience domestic violence (which is yet another proof, that women are just as violent as men in relationships), and relationship instability. Every sociologist knows that violence and instability have devastating effects on children..

It looks to me like the usual junk science coming from feminists, that is in reality lesbian political advocacy dressed-up as pseudo-science..

I suspect every study that is financed by a special interest group. I'd have the same reservations if I saw a study paid for by Exxon finding that there is no global warming due to burning fossil fuels..

In addition, I am even more suspicious of anything coming from "gender" advocates, because they have a long history of producing some of the most sloppy bunk science found in "academia"..

Finally, I clearly stated what I found wrong with the study: selecting a sample and self-reporting is not a scientific way of finding anything.

This is basically a bunch of lesbian advocacy groups that threw some money to make a study, selected a bunch of their own members, asked them how they feel about their kids and found out that they are the best parents in the world.. :) hmmm ok..

You know what? If you ask my Mom who she feels about me; she'll tell you that I'm awesome :)
