Write an anonymous letter detailing your problems with the course and her teaching methods in a polite, reasonable tone and drop it off at her inbox.

If that doesn't work, send a similar letter to the dean. Of course, if she has tenure I doubt it would do much.

I'm a man, but when I was in a similar situation I didn't have the choice. It was basically answer the way she wanted or fail the course.

So I really don't know what to tell you there. I have no idea how to even begin to argue against a misandrist professor without suffering the consequences.

If she's as militant and indoctrinated as she sounds, there is little hope for a rational healthy debate with her. And that is a very sad thing to say about a supposed college-level instructor!

Talk to your academic advisor, and try to learn all the channels available to file complaints about this instructor and the material. Find out if you will remain anonymous. If not, find out if action will be taken before or after the class is done. Depending on how vindictive she is, she might decide to be petty and seek revenge by failing you if she finds out early.

As a male, I really appreciate you taking the time to write this and to critically assess your teacher. It takes people on both sides of the gender issues to address extremists (both male and female extremists).

Some things you can do is talk to the department head, and if that is unsatisfactory, talk to an ombudsman. If that doesn't work, write an Opinion article for a newspaper and try to get it published.

It might shed some light on the technical problems with your professor's viewpoint that you are likely able to intuit but find difficult to verbalize.

Well, I think the most important question is what were you hoping to get out of a woman studies class? Self knowledge? History?

Try to get a good handle on what you wanted to get out of the class and see if it is met by the course outline and readings. If its not a match, then switch instructors or drop the class.

It might be possible for you to pursue your interests with an independent study under another instructor, or using a book on the subject that you think best suits your needs.

I appreciate this, and I appreciate hearing some sense coming from the mouth of a white female. Holy Christ, my head is spinning.

Anyway, I find that most people have the hardest time refuting evidence collected by the CDC and other respected government agencies. Although, I would believe you if you told me that femenists would laugh in the face of government statistics.

The CDC reports that most DV is initiated by women and that something like 70% of all child-abuse is caused by women. This, by the way, is not meant as comeuppance against women, it is simply showing that the media would have you believe one thing about men, that simply is not true.

I know that this video does not show violence against women, but it is domestic violence in the media, and a well worded counter argument about how women also abuse men could be an effective strategy against the teacher.

I'm a man, as well as a men's rights activist, here's what I suggest: Write the report she wants, stating the conclusion she wants, and get the course credits you want. However, if you want to take a stand against the obvious sexism you've described, add a preface to your report. In the preface, discuss the difference between starting from evidence, then forming conclusions based on that evidence, and the alternative practice of starting with a conclusion, then selecting evidence to support it.

I would think that looking through many of the sites linked through this reddit may provide you with some good hard facts to hit her where it hurts. If she really wants equality then she should be willing to hear both sides of every one of those predicaments she feels women are always a victim of: Rape; Domestic Violence; Stereotypes; Double Standards.
