What a horrible person is this Maran woman. Everything she says or writes drips with a slimy effort to avoid any sort of personal accountability. It was the culture, it was my girlfriend - what a load of bollocks. She wanted to be a victim then, and she wants to be a victim now - because "victims" never have to face the terrifying power of running their own lives.

While I'm certainly aware of the remarkable adaptability of the human mind, and the incredible delusions and fantasies that can result, I can't see anything in Maran's life that would drive such madness beyond the desperate desire to be thought of as special. This woman is a sociopath.

Eventually, she came to realize the truth. She was the person who had done wrong.

I'm hazarding a guess that her father is about to pop his clogs and she's only concerned about the one thing she's always been concerned about.
Herself, and a potential inheritance.
