This argument fails.

The concentration of wealth, regardless of the gender of the persons holding it, guarantees a like concentration of power.

forget gender.

It's easy to imagine that

Less than 10% of the population who are rich enough to be considered members of the super-rich - i.e. those who would most likely control societal organization, assuming that were even possible.

reflect interests other than your own.

To me "The Patriarchy" seems to serve the same purpose as "The Elders of Zion"; a conveniently elusive "strawman" (made up enemy) used to demonize a group of the population

I can't follow your logic here at all. Even if I accepted your oddly demographic definition of "the patriarchy" (which I do not), how does showing that it makes up less than 10% of the population prove that it is "bullshit?"

I have a question! What do y'all think of the term kyriarchy? I've seen it used in feminist blogs about the place, and I like it. The part about intersecting structures of domination... hell yes. 'Patriarchy' was never supposed to refer to an actual group of men, but rather to gender roles and social structures. The problem, obviously, is that it implies that men are always the oppressors. Kyriarchy is, to me, a much more interesting term, since it acknowledges intersections like race, gender, sexuality and class as things that can take or give privilege, depending on the situation.

You don't need to have a certain level of education to be considered part of the patriarchy. You don't even need to be male.

Ask some of the feminists over in TwoX about it. They'd likely be able to give you a more detailed response, but really, "patriarchy" is a lot more abstract and difficult to pen than you're making it out to be.

The annoying thing about "patriarchy", is that it has been defined to be a 100% bad deal for women. Men had more rights and opportunities, but also more responsibility and burdens (i.e. defending the country, providing food and shelter, etc.). In the name of equality, feminists want all the rights and opportunities that men exclusively had, but do not want the additional responsibilities. For example, they do not want to be legally or morally bound to defend the country or provide food and shelter. They are perfectly happy with men signing up for the selective service purely on sex as well as milking deadbeat dads for all the child support and alimony they can get. You're supposed to "be a man" after all and support starving single mothers. Nevermind "being a woman" and supporting starving single fathers, because in the mainstream, such thinking is ludicrous, albeit disparate.
