I wholeheartedly agree that a crime has been committed but what I don't understand is why the men didn't insist on practising safe sex. Is it because she is famous? I have said it before, but if a person refuses to use condoms, how many people have they had unsafe sex with before you?

As far as I understand, that was because all participants were drunk at the time the sex happened.

I wanted to talk about something something the article mentioned.

HIV+ men can have children through a process called sperm washing that separates sperm from seminal fluid.

However, if I were in the situation I would much rather adopt a child in need of a home. While I would like to raise a child, I personally don't feel the need to pass on my own genetics, especially through artificial processes.

Physiologically speaking, it is easier for a woman to contract the disease from vaginal sex with an infected man, than the other way around. Just like every other STD, considering we are carrying a square foot mucous membrane between are legs and you have mostly skin.

Let's vilify this one woman involved in a very public court case when countless women, especially in the third world, are knowingly infected through rape and deception every day. Did you know in certain parts of Africa, men believe having sex with a virgin will cure them of HIV???

I've never liked the idea of sending someone to prison because they have HIV. I have not a single unit of empathy (whatever that may be) for people who forgo a condom and get an STD, whether one party knew about the STD or not. Criminalizing sexual behavior between consenting adults is disgusting.

EDIT: I want to stress I said the same thing when they charged a man with spreading HIV.
