you are quoting the daily mail, they hate women, it's their thang, they're there to be bashed & belittled, they would prefer it if we just returned to somewhere back in the 50's, which seems like the desires of some around here. a study of four people for a magazine, all this stuff, i've seen it in my fellow 'man' too. there is something to agree with in men's rights, but you guys make it look like a joke.

In a society and culture that encourages such behavior among women, what did you expect? Every step of their lives revolves around how awesome they are. From what's on TV (bumbling husband and smart wife shows, females in "male" roles and the strawmen situations they get into with their male counterparts) to feminized public schools to go-girl student organizations in college and girl-only scholarships (not to mention the huge uproar of guys attempting to do the same and being called sexists). They gain everything from a marriage and lose nothing from divorce. A quick phone call can send the guy they fucked at a party to jail for rape to preserve their image. Should this backfire, the guy's name still hits the papers while she stays anonymous.

I agree with the trend observations. Generalizing, it is my observation that women are waging a cultural war against men (payback for the past?), even if they don't all individually realize it.

However, the part about the causes... seems a bit short on historic perspective.

The researchers believe our culture brings out narcissistic behaviour in almost all of us.

They blame the internet (where 'fame' is a click away), reality television (where the lure of fame without talent is most prevalent), easy credit (which enables people to buy far beyond their ability to pay), celebrity worship, our highly consumerist, competitive and individualistic society, and a generation of indulgent parents who have raised their children to think they're special, amazing and perfect.

The internet was not about fame, it didn't start that way. It was assimilated by PR and marketing just like television and radio. Twitter and Facebook are just "personal marketing" to many people, who says it is all just companies who do PR? FTS! Look at the evolution of TV news as it was in 1960 vs today. Now it is much more entertainment and controversy, not so much journalism.

It's a shame that almost nobody knows of the excellent Adam Curtis documentary from 2001 -- which centers on Edward Bernays.

The parts about how women were marketed to smoke cigarettes floors me.

This is why America is failing, it's all too much built on a foundation of total bullshit. People can't even see it any more, it is everywhere. And the rest of the world will not buy our bullshit export. Even Hollywood shouldn't be treated as a sure thing.

The local paper has a whole page for "women seeking men, and the other page for "men seeking women, men seeking men, women seeking women, friends."

Although the Daily Fail is rubbish - hm.... there does appear to be an excess of women looking around at the moment.

I wonder if anyone else has seen this dating bias anywhere?
