Well I started reading this and thought it's OK, they're both adults, and married.

Then I read this:

WTF 12? If a man has sex with a 12 yr old in the US does he ever get out of prison?

Being a woman, she had emotional needs (some sexual needs, too) that only a 12 year old boy could fulfill. Fulfilling emotional needs is much more noble of a cause than fulfilling physical needs. Physical needs are disgusting and evil, which is why men have them and women don't. Hooray for emotions.

Isn't it relevant that she went to prison for 7 and a half years? Isn't it relevant that after all that time, he wanted to marry her?

I mean, that was a decision he made by his own rights, was it not? Unless we're going to assume that she's somehow controlled him and destroyed his agency after all these years.

I agree that having a "hot for teacher" night at a bar is really tasteless and borderline sick, given what went on. But surely the man's own evaluation of his current state trumps our evaluation of his past.
