Funny how tolerating less in dating makes you tolerate less all around- the job, friendships- just so much begins to show up clearly as unacceptable.

I’m actually beginning to realize many of my female friends never wished the best for me. Like I’m full of support for them, but they have barely disguised competition and resentment toward me.

Find myself letting another friend go because she doesn’t respect my opinions. She’s actually one of the least educated friends I have, always had trouble in school and a lot of what she should’ve learned and is considered part of a basic education never stuck.

I’m not a believer in books or grades being the sole definition of smart- my own parents never finished college. Many brilliant people never finished school. But on top of her kind of ignorance she is also kind of a poor short sighted thinker who doesn’t make connections well or makes huge judgments while leaving out basic facts for or huge chunks of the picture that obviously should’ve been taken into consideration or effect the conclusion she’s reached.

I rarely correct her when she’s wrong because I find that a vibe kill in scenarios where it doesn’t matter. So I actually give a lot of grace to things she says that are flat out incorrect and she goes on not even knowing it’s given

What bothers me is she’s incredibly dogmatic about her opinions. We overlook her being wrong on facts but she’s constantly standing up to “correct” someone who just had a different opinion or idea on how to live than her and it’s done in a way that’s kind of angry and dogmatic like- you’re not doing things correctly/ following correct protocol even though there is none.

I’m just tired of it at this point. I find it really disrespectful. Sometimes she has a wrong idea or bad facts and someone will correct her and she will actually laugh kind of derisively thinking it’s stupid when it’s actually just over her head and level of education. Which I find so disrespectful and obnoxious. Sometimes people are trying to correct her in a way that uses hedging language to soften it and make it kinder for to hear- “You know what I think, xyz (insert incontrovertible truth and hard black and white fact). She will think it’s a suggestion and even be a little rude and mocking of it not realizing she’s the one who doesn’t understand or who has it wrong.

I just kinda cut her out. And it’s not even the simple mindedness. Nobody knows everything. I’m ok with it as long as they’re willing to learn, which everyone even the most intelligent people need to be. It’s her fucking arrogance and intolerance toward others while actually being in the wrong.

She says things about how government works or science that are dead fucking wrong and that an 8th grader would know better than and everyone in the group is so gracious no one laughs at her. We let her get away with saying it.

But here you are telling her a real and correct fact and she’s kinda mocking it or trying to laugh a little derisively at it like- how stupid because she’s too simple minded to have a grasp of what she may not know and that her knowledge isn’t complete.

It’s disrespectful and deeply distasteful I’m just through with disrespect and even in female friendships.

Further, I would like for my friendships to be able to elevate and grow me. Previously I’ve given that to others but had friendship groups where I basically never received it in return. I was always the one putting people on. But now I’m thinking it’s not to much to ask for there to be actual intelligent exchange I can learn from and reciprocity of shared ideas instead of always being the teacher, which is kind of a thankless tiring task
