Article describes the similarities in bullets between evangelicals and woke people and how both can be triggering in a similar way.

My own thoughts

I'm slowly de-woking my brain which is a confusing and painful process. My life has been revolving around women in different ways since I was a small child, and reorienting myself around myself and my own needs is very difficult.

It has been super difficult to find any quality material or support groups for this, as most people in the healthcare sector buys into the dogmatic views one way or another. I realized there are other groups who are also leaving their worldviews behind, such as muslims and christians. I thought this article was very interesting because it compares in a well written way why the author gets triggered by woke people similarly to how se gets triggered by religous people.

I wont summarize the

  1. Righteous and infidels - Growing up around "strong women" (bullies) I always felt like being the other. Womanhood was the norm and men and masculinity was dirty. Unless I committed I was impure and was yelled at or mocked until I conformed.
  2. Insider jargon - i was not too affected by this
  3. Born that way - in the misery and oppression hierarchy I'm at the very bottom as a white male. Which ironically also makes me at the bottom of the woke social hierarchy, which in turn sort of makes me oppressed within that micro community. I mean its not real oppression but you get what I mean. You have to apologise for existing and walk on eggshells.
  4. Original sin - born a boy and a man, my blood guilt is testosterone. I can never wash myself clean from this.
  5. Orthodoxies - have you heard about the patriarchy? Anyone denying or questioning the feminist worldview automatically is a heretic and needs to be taken down with prompt public humiliation.
  6. Denial as proof - a bit similar as the one above. Obviously women are suffering quite a bit in the world but not everything in the feminist playbook is scientific facts. I cant count how many times I have heard "a real feminist would never do/say that!"
  7. Black and white thinking - To be one of the them (the group of women) I was encouraged to step away from claims to power, sex and money (because those are the sins of patriarchal men). Whenever I expressed a need of those things the reaction was always "dont be like the bad guys".
  8. Shaming and shunning - this is the biggest one for me. Shame is a central tactic among feminists and its deployed a lot. Growing up on womens shaming, resentment and anger towards men I absorbed it and internalized it. It was super unhealthy. I continued self flagellation and still do. I really dont know what to do about this. If I did not conform I was one of the bad guys which ment rapist basically.
  9. Selective science denial -
  10. Evangelism - Well its everywhere. The governments in my home countries Sweden and Finland both have gender equality departments which function like propaganda ministries.
  11. Hypocrisy - what they do is to some degree psychological warfare. At the same time they claim the mantel of goodness. Growing up in this environment, getting permanently damaged while also thinking this was good for me was just so ... confusing?
  12. Gloating about the fate of the wicked - incels?

I'm pretty lost when it comes to this process tbh. Therapists are usually good at dealing with bits and pieces here and there. However they never really understand the whole package which is very frustrating. I was very happy when I found this piece, I hope it will help you too.
