Yes, I once had someone I worked with complain to me about how some guy had his daughters accuse a woman of being a witch to over a property dispute and ended it with a "I hate men". First off that has nothing to do with gender and second why do you think I will be on your side or want to hear how you hate men?

I don't like the rewriting of history to make something a gender issue when it isn't. Similarly I've seen similar attitudes towards women's achievements in history and claims that women were held back from scientific or societal advancements. Just look at how Galileo was treated for questioning that the sun revolves around the earth all the way to Alan Turing was treated for being gay even though he helped win World War II. Men are just as abused or mistreated for questioning those in power or being different. A lot of them ending up being the greatest minds. I think a lot of it what it really comes down to is society feeling threatened by them so they try to control them.

Sorry if that goes off topic a bit. I think they tie into each other in that they are both caused by ignorance and fear but some people try to pass them off as the result of misogyny.

I didn't know this. Often, people have brought up to me witch burnings as examples of "blatant misogyny", which always appeared to be a total non sequitur, and thus I hadn't had much to say. Thank you for sharing this information.

For what I remember reading, men used to be burned more for heresy in some countries, but I don't have any source for this right now.
