I tried making a whole post about this but it got removed.

I think some people think it is because not “getting girls” is an insult for men and it’s a compliment to say that a man does get them. Also men who don’t whether by choice or not, are often seen as less of a man. It seems like some people think women are an achievement that all men should be trying to get and if they don’t, then they’re less of a man and that’s why it’s an insult to tell a guy he doesn’t get girls. This is more prevalent among teenagers though.

It seems like some people think part of men’s worth is based off of his relationships with women and that getting women should be a priority for a man.

Also, as a bisexual man who is mostly attracted to men, I can tell that a lot of people don’t think of me as a “real man” because I don’t really date women, even lgbt members and allies themselves. I think that this might be partly why lgbt men are associated heavily with women and why lots of women speak to and about lgbt men in a feminine way. The f slur for gay and bisexual men means “failed man”.

Of course I don’t really believe that men’s worth is tied to their relationships with women, I believe everyone has worth but it feels like a lot of people feel this way.
