Just a quick tldr.

This woman lied about being raped by 12 men. Some of whom were not even in the same town as her at the time. yet they still had their lives ruined. She admitted lying, and now expects to be let off without charge. Feminists support her.

UPDATE

I have tried to find the evidense to support my claim that "some of the men were not in the same town" without success.

In no way can I find any material to support this claim. I therefore retract my statement and freely admit i may have been mistaken.

There certainly seems to be confusion suround both sides. It appers that the woman, and some of the men engaged in sex. However this appears to be consensual from a leaked video. there is also concern howver, about the 35 bruises on her legs, arms and buttocks.

This is definately not a clear cut case. I have read as much as I can from many sources including feminst websites, to male advocacy websites. From what i can make out, the sex was was consensual (at least between the 3 men who admit to being involved), and the lady has made a false allegation of rape.

Two contrasting sources on this case.

I do want to mention, that i sincerely hope the lady in question was not raped, and that hopefuly we will have a free and fair trial where all the evidence is provided. The statement she gave was clearly given under durress.

Not the first time a woman has falsely accused a large number of men raping her. Look up Jemma Baele.

I don't even want to LOOK at Jemma Baele

Set your browser to not display images before reading a news article on her.

[+]EnvironmentalWar4627 -13 points-12 points-11 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

She did not admit to lying. She admits that she retracted her statement but has been very adamant the rape happened and that she only retracted her statement because she was refused an attorney for 7 hours as police pressured her to say it wasn't rape and she wanted to go home.

I'll get lots of downvotes for this because people MUCH prefer your version so they can be mad at women.

What about the 'fact' that some of accused boys weren't even in the same town at the time of the incident?

Isnt it proof enough that the allegations were false?

Her retracting the statement is not the only evidence against her..

[–]EnvironmentalWar4627 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

I didn't read that anywhere other than this comment. But if you find it in an actual article, I'd have a look.

Op's 'TLDR' contained a lot of info that wasn't in the article. Including that she admitted she lied and that some of the men weren't even in the area.

It's sad when people here are using the same lying tactics that extremist feminists use.

Hi.

I have tried to find the evidense to support my claim that "some of the men were not in the same town" without success.

In no way can I find any material to support this claim. I therefore retract my statement about the boys being elsewhere.

There is evidence that she accused one individual who was not present at the site of the alleged assault, but was asleep in a different place with his girlfriend; perhaps that is where the confusion arose?

Speaking for the first time since he was cleared of sexually assaulting the 19-year-old, Yona Golub told reporters a selfie of him in bed with his girlfriend proved he was not present at the time of the alleged attack … “I wasn’t even in the room, and I’ve never met the woman in my life. I was with my Israeli girlfriend at the time, but the police still connected me to it … When they came to arrest my friends, they thought I was with this woman too … Apparently when she was shown my picture she said that I was there as well. It was all lies. It had nothing to do with me”.

Yes! this is what I was thinking of. I knew i had read it somewhere.

No she wasn't under duress, she was later arrested, after the police became suspicious of her claims. 36 witnesses were interviewed detectives had to get permission to fly to Israel to interview people and collect DNA samples. Needless to say they were pissed off when none of it tallied up, and she had a minder the whole time. She eventually signed a statement admitting she lied due to the shame. It was only at this point the police decided to charge her which she never suspected, thinking she would just be released. Most people forget that her original lawyer wanted her to plead guilty and get it out of the way to avoid the media glare before her mothers intervention.

What a load of crap. Claiming that she is a helpless teenager when she is an adult ! This case will be ruled in her favour due to media pressure.

There is literally videos of the night. Pictures next morning where she is smiling and taking selfies ! She got was into a gang bang ! She did it and recorded it then regretted it is the most likely scenario. I want the evidence to be made public. Make the video public or else if this case is overturned it's BS!

MAKE THE EVIDENCE PUBLIC !

I'm not so sure, Cyprus isn't as woke feminist like the UK, and they won't be prepared to throw their entire police force under the bus, for what was a very quick and thorough operation. It will entirely come down to a point of technicality and technicality only with the ECJ when she fails in this court, as to whether she waived her rights to a solicitor.

[–]DraganTehPro 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I just love how the women are almost never named, nor can we ever see her face. But as soon as a man Is arrested for a crime he is immediately named and the picture of him is shown even if the trial didn't occur.

[–]rainbow_bro_bot 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The focus is all on poor little her, but what about the 12 men she falsely accused? I bet their lives have never been the same since.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

So I'm pretty against false accusations here, but I'm going to point this out:

The woman’s lawyers said the retraction statement, which formed the basis of the prosecution case, should never have been admitted into evidence because it was made by a vulnerable teenager who had spent almost seven hours in a police station without a lawyer

What the flying fuck, police? You question a teenager for 7 hours without a lawyer? You could get any teenager to say anything while questioning them 7 hours straight. That's straight bullshit.

From a rights perspective, no teen should be questioned without a lawyer present.

If she is lying, having her lawyer there would solidify the state's case against her and if she isn't, shouldn't be pushed into signing a false confession. And there wouldn't be room for appeals.

That is stupid on the police's side.

I have to agree with you. The woman really aught to have been offered legal assistance, and i do find it strange she was not. while I do not know enough about the case, you are right that she may well have felt pressured in to signing something she would rather not have done.

This definately does not help the police at all.

[–]Reddituser0346 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I think the claim that she was questioned without a lawyer for 7 hours was made by the woman’s lawyers. Wikipedia suggests this might not be accurate:

The teenager’s defense claimed she had been subjected to eight hours of questioning without a lawyer. The claim however was not in line with the evidence. Furthermore, at all times the teenager was accompanied by a welfare officer who testified that no pressure had been placed on the teenager to retract her statement.

I know Wikipedia is far from 100% infallible but it is literally only the defence making these claims. It is also worth noting the alleged victim was 19 so she would be considered an adult in most jurisdictions.

[–]Sultmaker_9000 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She had a minder the whole time.

[–]rahsoft 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Interesting that "justice abroad" are paying for the legal costs and are playing the "believe all women card"

I believe Israel has laws about such behaviours( the men that is) that would have been applied to them( regardless of who their families were)

[–]_unknownBeing_ 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Her case was lowered? Wouldn't it be easier to have a law that says everyone must be equal under the law to avoid giving people taps on the wrists for crimes because of them being things they can't control like skin tone, race,GENDER,disabilities and other factors but see them as humans?

[–]BrokeMacMountain[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But that would lead to equality, which is agasint feminism.... you mysoginist pig! /s

[–]airfox3522 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

There was video clip of her gong up and down on one of the guys. There was even testimony that she had made false accusation for financial reward. Here is something to start deeper research on this "matter"

https://falsevictims.com/fictim/433/freya-heath

[–]McFeely_Smackup 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I have no sympathy for false accusers, but I also have a distinct mistrust of the legal system of some countries.

[–]Sultmaker_9000 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not applicable here. 36 witness statements, detectives flying to Israel, 15 men DNA tested.

[–]Sultmaker_9000 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It doesn't mean she isn't guilty, she got herself a high powered barrister thanks to massive backing to overturn her verdict, not a single piece of independent analysis backed her.

[+]EnvironmentalWar4627 -16 points-15 points-14 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Man or woman, if you report a rape and then decide later you don't want to press charges, you will go to jail.

So no matter how real the rape is, don't report it right away. Make sure you really want to go through with the long and difficult process of reporting a rape before you go to the police. If you don't want to go through with it, just don't report it and let the rapist be. Because reporting it and then retracting it could land you in jail.

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Don't falsely report claims of one the worst crimes you can accuse someone of: Rape. If you do, then feel differently about lying, tell the truth. You may have to pay for your crime but it's the right thing to do.

[+]EnvironmentalWar4627 -7 points-6 points-5 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

But retracting your statement isn't a crime. Only lying is. My point is retracting your statement will be used against you so if you were really raped, it may be better to not report it if you don't think you can handle the process.

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't think anything should stop a person reporting any crime, especially rape. You can't have a justice system if people are afraid to report crimes.

[–]EnvironmentalWar4627 -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hmm. So maybe if the process becomes overwhelming for a victim and they want to retract their statement so they can go home...we shouldn't be locking them up.

That could really scare people from reporting rapes knowing that the result will be a painful and upsetting trial...or a painful and upsetting jail term.

Not the best options for victims I guess.

[–]rainbow_bro_bot 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just tell the truth and you will be fine. The police and courts generally don't take kindly to liars, especially people who lie about serious crimes like rape.

Do you believe her? Or the victims? In this case the victims are the 12 men she accused...

So, you have a choice, you can either believe her, or you can believe victims. In this case, you can't do both.

Oh yeah, she was raped by guys who were out of town... pretty idiotic to ignore the victims because of their gender...

I BELIEVE THE VICTIMS. You can go on believing the woman.
