In the UK it was made illegal to offer gender discounts on insurance and surprise surprise, the rates for women went up to match men, not the other way round. Women had to pay 20-30% more overnight and lost their minds... equality's a bitch sometimes. 🤣

Insurance is business and their goal is to make money. They don't make decisions based on political correctness or stereotypes but statistics - unless laws forbid them as they do in many places in this particular issue.

I work for an insurance company. I saw some multipliers based on age and gender the other day. Interestingly enough, men pay a decent chunk more under 24, but above 24 they pay less all the way up to 99yo+

I figure that even if women cause more accidents, young men cause more spectacular/total loss accidents, which are way more expensive for an insurance company. These are values technically based on statistics after all.
