The man who drove into the parade recently (USA) had just left jail for violence against a woman he was currently or formerly romantically involved with. Men (or women I guess) who hurt animals and or their partners and or their children should be taken seriously because 1. Those victims count and 2. They often go on to hurt others

Sarah Everard case was bloody scary. Used to live a few streets away from where she was taken. 😩😩😩 and now it's dark at 4pm and honestly my fear walking home after dark just turns me off wanting to date any man, if that makes sense??

I'm interested to see how this plays out. I can only see the first few paragraphs of the article which makes it sound like the focus will be on sexual violence rather than violence in general.

I personally think the police are being made scapegoats of the low rape conviction rates. For a conviction, someone has to be proven of committing the crime beyond reasonable doubt. Sometimes there just isn't the evidence, particularly for he-said, she-said. I'm not defending the police as I do believe there is rampant misogyny, but it's dangerous to blame only them for low conviction rates for sexual assaults. What other resources could be provided to the police to obtain evidence of sexual assault? Does resources mean forensic capabilities? Does it mean more officers? Better training?

The entire justice system in the UK isn't fit for providing justice to victims of sexual crime.

I think there may be ways of obtaining some form of justice for victims with the current system. For example, civil courts require evidence showing the incident happened on balance of probability - this means using the available evidence to decide if it is more likely than not that the incident happened. In some instances civil courts can issue non-harrassment orders, so surely there must be similar orders? Maybe victims could make better use of the civil courts and sue fuck out of the attackers?
