This was an utterly disgusting joke for this show to make. Imagine it being like "Ugh, her labia was too flappy, it was like meat curtain", and the episode concluding with a woman getting a labiaplasty. American culture is really weird about this. Sorry people like this guy felt pressured into it.

Sex and the City is emblematic of everything that went wrong with the feminist movement. Equality was replaced with Boomer self-indulgence and extreme narcissism. Every perceived failing of men was castigated while still being used as license for all women to be encouraged to act as poorly as the worst men. Oh, certain men sleep around and manipulate women into sex? That must mean that all women should aspire to using sex as a dehumanising tool. They should be applauded for being empowered and emphasized with when things don't work out. The same consideration should not be given to men. Instead men should be evaluated against a set of criteria that's about as deep as an Amex black card is thick.

There is so much misandry inherent in the discussion of genital mutilation that it can be difficult to even have a reasonable discussion about it without people acting like you’re crazy for even thinking there was something morally repugnant about involuntary circumcision.

And the second you compare it to female genital mutilation, you’re titled I misogynist pig for even comparing the two. And 90% of the arguments I hear against involuntary circumcision are about how women prefer a guy being circumcised. Like we’re supposed to sculpt every part of our being for the pleasure of women. Fuck that shit.

That, And people like to say that it’s just “unsanitary” or “gross”. Which, that argument is probably the most nonsensical. Not only is it incredibly hurtful to boys/men’s self-image, but we teach children to wash every other part of their body, why would their foreskin be any different?

It’s incredible how much power women believe they should have over men’s bodies, sexuality and life. And that’s a whole other discussion that if you even bring it up, you’re considered a sexist.

It’s just so difficult to even start a discussion on these things in a reasonable manner given the current climate. Especially when it comes to men’s bodily autonomy and sexuality. Men still have absolutely no reproductive rights in the event of an unwanted pregnancy. If you state ahead of time that you don’t want to be a part of the child’s life, you’re now considered a deadbeat and will spend the rest of your life paying exorbitant child support payments under threat of arrest.

The entire frame of the discussions about sex and gender and bodily autonomy need to change before we can even hope to work on these things and it doesn’t look hopeful right now from my perspective.

My sister and mother watched that show a lot when I was growing up. It’s shocking how toxic it was.

I remember seeing a review of the first Sex and the City film in an old gaming magazine, and the critic gave one of the best (and funniest) criticisms of a media product I've ever heard. "It is Al-Qaeda's view of the West, and once you understand that, you'll understand why they hate us"
