I’m lucky enough to bring in enough to allow my wife not to have to work. I’m in charge of the income and finance, my wife is therefore able to be in charge of the house and looking after the kids.

Thanks to feminism and various other influences, women have been sold a lie that it’s LIBERATING to be forced to go out and get their own job, house, stuff, etc. The net impact of that is to keep wages low and force most households into requiring both parents to work to afford to pay for kids, thus REDUCING the choices open to them.

My wife chooses to be a housewife and mother because she has that option. I’ve even strongly encouraged her should she want to pursue a career, but she’s happy and doesn’t want to. If she did, I would expect my workload around the house would increase and that I would not be able to devote as much time to work, resulting in a minor cut to my income and probably a slightly worse childhood for our children. Marriage is a partnership and has been since its creation.

No-one sane wants to own another person. That’s what these fools don’t understand. My wife works harder than most wage slaves to make sure our kids get the best upbringing possible. It’s not “free”, it’s doing her part, just as I’m doing my part to pay for everything.

Equal rights are laudable. However, feminism is catastrophically dangerous as it advocates superiority and has utterly destroyed our entire society. Only 18% of US households are nuclear families now!

I think this is the problem with the social media: ignorant people who know nothing about normal life get to have a voice and other people really listen to them. I don't know who this bridgie casie is and what she did with her life to make me care about her opinions. I grew up in a great family, with my mom working all day long to keep everything nice and tidy in our home and my dad worked hard at his job to provide for us all. I never heard them complaining that the other was not doing enough or trying to make it look like they were working harder. Our goal as a family was to live the best life we could, not to score points in some crazy gender war.

An extra $20 an hour for each hour you’re working at home in addition to the money he brings home? Not getting a direct wage does not mean "unpaid". One can be compensated in myriad ways, like say, a roof over the head, a vehicle to drive, food to eat, electricity, hot water, etc..............

I was a homemaker for a several years. It was the hardest I've ever worked. Constrary to what this woman probably believes, being a housewife/homemaker/stay at home mom is not sitting on the couch all day watching Oprah and online shopping. That's called being a lazy bum.

A typical day should look something like this: you get up early, get ready, and your husband and kids have what they need for the day. You have breakfast ready for them. You want your husband to leave for work in a good mood, knowing you love and appreciate him. If your kids are in school you do the same for them. Then you make the bed, clean the house, etc. If you have kids at home you get them a mid morning snack and read to them, play together, etc. Then you go to the grocery store and make your you have everything needed for dinner. You have lunch. Kids do school work or some kind of age appropriate educational activity on their own while you take care of paying bills, keeping track of household expenses, etc. You take the kids for a walk or to the park for a bit. Then get started on dinner. You make sure toys and anything else is picked up, the house looks nice, and the kids are calm for when your husband gets home. You greet your husband when he gets home and help him relax before dinner. You have dinner as a family. You spend some time together as a family, then let your husband have time to himself to unwind while you get the kids to bed. After that you have alone time with your husband. Give him a massage, have sex, watch a movie, whatever he wants to do. He's been supporting your family by working all day, so this is your time to support him in whatever he needs. You should enjoy it too, but the focus should be on him. Once he goes to bed you take some time for yourself to relax, read, or take a bath being going to bed.

Now obviously it didn't always go that smoothly, but this is approximately what you should be aiming for. Is it exhausting? Yes. Is it worth it to make sure your family is loved and cared for? Absolutely!

Legit question. How is she wrong? If she's taking care of everything at home, that allows him to focus on his career.

Considering many men these days have garbage jobs with crap pay, requiring the wife to work too. But it doesn't end there for the wife. When the wife inevitably gets off work, she goes home to take care of the kids, clean the house, cook the meals, run the errands. Women who are put into those types of situations by their partners are better off being single moms: one less child in the home to clean up after.

If you want a 1950s housewife, you have to provide like a 1950s husband. I guarantee you most of the people on this thread can't even do that

This is a good take imho. I was a stay at home dad for a year and a half, while my wife earned all our money. I 100% viewed my role as an extension of her career. She could not have done what she did without me shouldering the mental load.
